Upcoming Tier Change!
Added 2023-10-25 05:44:36 +0000 UTCHey Everyone! Before the end of the month hits, we wanted to let you know of an exciting update to our Schmitthead Tier on Patreon! Starting November 1st, we will be implementing the Exclusive Suggestion List!
So, what does this mean?! Each month, everyone in our Schmitthead Status tier can submit one movie recommendation. We will collect all of those suggestions and randomly select one movie to be included in our upcoming schedule!*
We get so many movie suggestions and we hope this will be a fun way to add to our Patreon perks and to get another movie per month that is picked exclusively by you!
*Movie must be unseen by either both or one of us
Comments
Hi Everyone! Did we ever get a plan in order to implement this? Will there be a thread created to post our suggestions? Or should we send messages? Can/Should we send multiple suggestions, or just one?
Eric J Watkins
2023-11-01 20:14:34 +0000 UTCWhen will this start? I have a list!🤣

2023-10-28 03:50:06 +0000 UTCWe have a Letter Box’d that is updated with our most frequently suggested, but if you do make a suggestion that won’t be eligible because we’ve both seen it, we’ll let you know so you can make a new suggestion 😊 -Sam

2023-10-28 00:40:27 +0000 UTCGreat idea!!! Love it! Do you have a list of the movies that you have seen? I wouldn't want to waste a suggestion on one you've already seen! Thank you!

2023-10-27 12:36:01 +0000 UTCI think you should allow someone to win as many times as possible. It's random so fair is fair. I know you would have to deal with the sour grapes who wanna complain.

2023-10-27 03:06:21 +0000 UTCRight ,I have made my decision on my first 2 request reactions for the "Schmitthead Status tier" My selections are "Falling Down (1993)" and "Mystic River (2003)" I would like reactions of both in the coming few weeks ,thank you very much

2023-10-27 01:33:01 +0000 UTCThank you for the suggestion, Eric! We'll definitely keep this in mind for the future! I will be keeping in mind the comments, as always, for future movies that Daniel and me add to the schedule. -Sam

2023-10-27 01:32:39 +0000 UTCThere are now 176, but we'll get a better idea of number of participants next month :) You can see the list of Schmittheads at the end of every video as well. -Sam

2023-10-26 22:05:30 +0000 UTCI would like to add that I hope this new process will take place right here, and not on Discord. I really dislike that user interface. Reminds me of some horrid “chat room” from 20 years ago. I know Patreon can be a hassle on occasion, but it’s so much better than having to switch to Discord.

2023-10-26 21:20:23 +0000 UTCJust a further suggestion. You could let Schmittheads submit multiple films as a suggestion, and if that person wins, you could choose on your own, which of those suggestions you wanted to watch that month. This way, if one of you had already seen a suggested film, you'd have options. Maybe the multiple suggestions could be offered in priority order. From there a simple point system could dictate that if my number 3 suggestion also matched 4 other people's suggestions, at a certain point level, that film would win over my number one, but more people would see their suggestions win every month. It would also allow you to possibly make more Schmittheads happy because you could see how many of the suggestions are the same, sort of having a consensus among those requests. Obviously not necessary, but it could come into play in your decision. Regardless, 1-in-160-something seems like not the worst odds. I also agree with others that maybe a winner gets disqualified for immediate future monthly decisions. Overall. I'm really excited for this prospect though. Thank you!
Eric J Watkins
2023-10-26 13:09:20 +0000 UTCwondering how many schmittheads are there?
Chris Bruneau
2023-10-26 10:42:17 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, if Miller crossed twice, they'd be back where they started. jk (I know I, know this doesn't make sense).

2023-10-26 06:19:49 +0000 UTCAm so happy you're implementing this. Brings a tier to my eyes.

2023-10-26 04:09:17 +0000 UTCThe selected film will be uploaded to Patreon and YouTube, as usual :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt
2023-10-26 03:54:34 +0000 UTCI understand that we must be top level members to enter the monthly suggestions, but will all other members be able to SEE the reactions, or just the recommending level?
David Wilkins
2023-10-26 03:09:01 +0000 UTCWill there be a limit to how many people can upgrade to Schmitthead Tier?
Mario
2023-10-26 02:59:10 +0000 UTCI'm not sure, but will definitely look into it! Patreon recently changed a lot of things so there may be a hidden setting somewhere lol -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2023-10-26 02:06:41 +0000 UTCIs there a way on Patreon to make a Schmitthead tier post visible to all, just so we can see what members on that tier are nominating even if we lowly members of other tiers can't comment? If not, no biggie. I'm just super nosy lol.
Paul Cox
2023-10-26 02:02:17 +0000 UTCA post will go live on the 2nd that you can leave a comment on so they're all in one place :) -Sam

2023-10-26 01:24:35 +0000 UTCGuess I gotta upgrade my tier. XD Question, how would I suggest a movie to you guys, just DM?
EdmanXERO
2023-10-26 01:01:30 +0000 UTCThis is a great idea. popular choice is good, but some movies fall through the cracks because people haven't seen them.
Ed R
2023-10-26 00:22:40 +0000 UTCExactly, numerical “popularity” can actually be a curse. This development might cause me to up the level. But I do wonder about knowing which titles haven’t been seen, aside from our selection never showing up.
David Wilkins
2023-10-26 00:20:02 +0000 UTCI think Tostito Buddy needs to start a Miller's Crossing Gang I mean Union, to improve the odds. Yes. 🤔

2023-10-25 22:43:37 +0000 UTCWait you're here, Luetin? Great content. That's awesome! 😀

2023-10-25 22:39:48 +0000 UTCWhoops and I replied and misread your question. We’ll have all suggestions in a post so you can choose to do the same suggestion (to increase odds) or change yours! -Sam

2023-10-25 19:53:52 +0000 UTCAwesome! :D
Jon
2023-10-25 19:42:56 +0000 UTCWe should all upgrade our memberships, and unionize our votes with me as the humble leader. I definitely won't make this nice young couple watch one of the Twilight movies once a month forever so don't even worry about it.
Tostito Buddy
2023-10-25 19:22:55 +0000 UTCTotally okay to select the same film to increase the odds! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2023-10-25 19:17:26 +0000 UTCinteresting, so is it cool if multiple patrons pick the same film(thereby increasing odds of it being picked) or is the idea to have 169 different films in the pool.
Birdie Num Num
2023-10-25 19:12:05 +0000 UTCCorrect 😂 1/169 if everyone submits a movie! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2023-10-25 18:56:48 +0000 UTCLove, love, love this. Polls are great for gauging popular requests, but I've seen a ton of suggestions in the comments from this community for underappreciated gems. Keeping a balance is great news for the channel 😁
Look out, Arbogast!
2023-10-25 18:30:34 +0000 UTCHaha yes indeed, that's why I qualified it saying I realize it's a big undertaking. Although I guess it could be a bit more manageable if one eliminates cartoons, kids movies, documentaries, super graphic NC-17 films, or anything else that would never be used in a reaction. I actually sort of do this myself. I keep a big spreadsheet of all the films I own (a couple thousand), their year and Rottentomatoes critic & audience scores. I'm a big nerd and it helps me show friends & family when they want to borrow something, or when I want to watch something. It took a while to make, but I'm glad I have it.
Jango Jenkins
2023-10-25 18:06:12 +0000 UTCI was going to say you can just search this Patreon account for any movie titles before requesting. But then I remembered people watch movies before starting reaction channels. And then I remembered that people don't keep a mental list of every movie they ever saw in case they need to cross reference for potential future Patreon supporters. And now I agree this sounds absolutely insane.
Tostito Buddy
2023-10-25 17:25:51 +0000 UTCSo you're saying that Schmitthead status would give me a monthly 1/169 chance of making you guys watch Miller's Crossing? But I couldn't make you watch it twice in two months?? Good day to you, ma'am.
Tostito Buddy
2023-10-25 17:17:53 +0000 UTCWe love seeing the enthusiasm for this! Please keep the questions coming and I'll do my best to make sure everything is answered prior to the first and of course, please shoot us a message after that time if you have any more questions - comment notifications are really hard to track after a post has aged too far. Thank you! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2023-10-25 16:26:51 +0000 UTCThank you! We will make a post on the first of the month and the patron will have until the 25th to comment their suggestion on the post so everyone can see what movies have been suggested and it give us time to pick a winner before the end of the month :) I will continue to monitor the post to confirm your entry, or let you know that we have both already seen that film and will need a new suggestion. It is okay if only one us hasn't seen it! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2023-10-25 16:25:28 +0000 UTCThese are great questions and one we hadn't thought of! We think the likelihood of someone winning back to back would be pretty slim, but we can implement a rule that someone cannot win twice in a row. If it starts to become an issue, we can absolutely revisit it! As of writing this comment, we currently have 169 patron in the Schmitthead Status Tier. You can see the list at the end of each video where we thank that tier's patrons. The number fluctuates very frequently. In November, we should get a better idea of active participants in this perk, as we do have family and friends who support us through Patreon, but don't actively participate. Hope that helps! -Sam

2023-10-25 16:18:31 +0000 UTCConcur, great idea. How will suggestions be submitted? In a reply to a thread here? It would be good to know the suggestions already submitted for a month to not submit a repeat. Also , just to clarify, it's okay if only one of you has seen a suggestion?
Samolina Pilchard
2023-10-25 15:26:03 +0000 UTCGreat idea

2023-10-25 14:50:40 +0000 UTCCouple questions; Will you take people who win out of the running for random selection, or could they get lucky and pick a movie several months in a row? And how many people are Schmittheads, what are the actual odds?
Tostito Buddy
2023-10-25 13:35:22 +0000 UTCGreat Idea

2023-10-25 11:08:12 +0000 UTCSounds great. If someone recommend one that somebody has already suggested, will you let them know? 🙂
Scott Kerr
2023-10-25 09:24:31 +0000 UTCIts a great idea, more channels should consider it. I also like that its a random selection of submissions, not a poll, honestly get quite tired of polls being the default only method of selection.

2023-10-25 06:35:23 +0000 UTCWe do have a LetterBox’d and I’ve updated it with the most commonly requested movies but I’ll keep updating it as more suggestions come in! For this monthly list, I will make sure to provide feedback though so you can make a new suggestion to be included 😊 Thank you for the feedback! We always appreciate the suggestions on how we can make Patreon better! -Sam

2023-10-25 06:34:43 +0000 UTCHello 👋 what if you ran a random lottery that every Schmitthead can be entered into, winner gets to pick two movies for the week. That could get more signups and I'm sure some Schmittheads would come up with great double features. Just an idea 🙂 LOVE YOUR REACTIONS and hello to the bebe
john francis
2023-10-25 06:34:36 +0000 UTCDo they happen to have a Letterbox'd account of all the films they've watched ?

2023-10-25 06:31:45 +0000 UTCJust a crazy idea. This would be kind of a lot of work and also be a continual work in progress but... wondering if it could make sense to have a searchable running list or spreadsheet with every movie you two have ever seen. I KNOW - this sounds absolutely insane, but I imagine a scenario where a Schmitthead makes suggestions and then every month it's "so sorry, Daniel has seen this" or whatever. Month after month. Being able to quickly search the list might make it more likely someone's suggestion gets put in the lottery. Just a wacky idea! Keep up the great work!
Jango Jenkins
2023-10-25 06:28:22 +0000 UTCThis perk will only be part of the Schmitthead Status Tier, but there will be no cap on the number of patron in that tier! But only one suggestion per month per person :) -Sam
