Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness. Two great but unappreciated Carpenter movies

Great reaction. Really hoped that you would like it and you certainly didn’t disappoint. Have always loved the Carpenter soundtrack for this film and just the overall chilling atmosphere from start to finish. I recommend Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), Christine (1983), and Prince of Darkness (1987). All three were directed by John Carpenter.

A good re-watch. Anyone think Prince of Darkness would be good for them to watch?

Absolutely loving this full schedule drop early in the week ,it is just like the early days of the channel
Excited to enjoy The Fog after all the Sunday night football
Also don't let Daniel out of the house with that fresh new cut ,as all the neighbours will be flirting with him

That was really good, first time watch for me and I thought it was a perfectly packaged horror story. Lots of familiar faces too, besides Jamie Lee, Nancy Loomis played Janet Leigh's assistant, she was Annie in Halloween, and the actor who played her dad, the cop in Halloween, was Dan. John Carpenter himself played the guy in the church at the beginning of the movie. Adrienne Barbeque, Stevie, was married to John Carpenter too, although I'm not sure if she was when this was filmed. And the guy who played Nick is also in Halloween 3, although that movie is not really like the rest of the Halloween franchise.
Anyway it was a solid horror movie that kind of reminded me of John Carpenter's later work in horror anthologies like Masters of Horror, his installment, "Cigarette Burns", is my favorite in that show, it's really good if you ever get a chance to watch it, and there are a couple other episodes that I thought were really good too, all done by different legendary horror directors.

Also, Sam totally caught a blooper when she noticed the figure outside the lighthouse in the scene where Nick calls Stevie. That was a crewmember who was probably dispersing the fog around the lighthouse.

The Fog was filmed mainly in Northern California around Point Reyes and Inverness. I've visited the locations twice and it's absolutely worth the trip if you're in that area (it's just north of San Francisco on the coast). The Point Reyes Lighthouse is spectacular but check their schedule because you can only walk down to the Lighthouse on certain days. Father Malone's church is actually much further south in Sierra Madre near the downtown.

This is a spooky one for sure!!! since you both asked, the lighthouse is at Point Reyes, in Marin Cty, CA. the funny car she drives is a VW "thing"--my Mom had one when I was a little kid! its like a german army surplus vehicle that was sold here in the 70s

Sam and Dan-- you are the best! I thought I'd never see a reaction to this movie. First reaction ever! This is one of my favorite John Carpenter movies and it is waaay underrated, in my opinion. Thank you! Baby Schmitt rules! 👻
