Fargo Season 1 Episode 10 'Morton's Fork' Full TV Reaction!!

Fargo Season 1 Episode 10 'Morton's Fork' Full TV Reaction!!

Comments

Another strong vote for One False Move. Excellent cop/homicide movie that stretches from L.A. to rural Arkansas. The whole cast is great.

David Wilkins

It’s funny too because the story about realizing you can’t help yourself but can be kind to others completely confuses Lester because he only cares about himself. But the riddle from the FBI agents he gets instantly because it’s about carefully coming up with a plan. Which he is good at.

Jeremy Garner

Too bad we’re only on season 1 and can’t mention Hanzi who will give them all a run for their money. Love this show

Jonny Kerr

Agree with "One False Move" especially since it stars Bill Paxton. Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey team up in the serial killer movie "Frailty".

David Martin

Oh damn! Uh I’d say Chigur protecting and Malvo chasing, I think 😳 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I think I saw this same thread haha I went down a rabbit hole after we finished watching and this makes so much sense! Not some riddle like Lorne was trying to pull -Sam

TBR Schmitt

"Keep an eye on Greta." "Believe me, I mean to."

Oh man. Awesome last episode to an awesome series. Hope season 2 is just as good. Lorne Malvo is to Freddy Krueger as Anton Chigrh is to Michael Myers. Please check out One False Move with Billy Bob Thornton from 1992. He also wrote it. It is an excellent neo noir.

Robert Boyd

Also Deadwood, Deadwood, Deadwood for you both as a reaction (could alternate between Deadwood and Fargo actually quite well). You guys really get a ton of things others miss and that's why you're my favorite reaction channel.

I found this explanation for the glove story on reddit from user iamjoric: "Noah Hawley, who is referred to as the creator of the series, is quoted: It was explained in the script, but then on the day [of shooting], I decided that if he doesn't get this, explaining it to him isn't going to make sense. It's a relatively simple moral, which is: Here's a man who was not putting his own needs first. He wasn't thinking about himself. Whereas most of us would say, "I lost a glove. Now I'm just going to have this one stupid glove. What am I going to do?" This guy instantly went, "Well, someone is going to find that, and if I drop the other one, they'll have a pair." Hope that helps!

Slightly pushing the door open and walking in is by law, breaking and entering.

its the same people--like easter eggs

you have now completed Season-1 , its great, please do Season -2 , which I enjoyed just as much if not more. (its got a groovy, 70s vibe to it!!)

Chris Bruneau

You have one chasing you and one protecting you - who do you want on your side? Chigur or Malvo?

It's pretty much universally agreed upon that season 2 is even better, so it's good to know you guys don't need any convincing to watch it. I'd go even farther and say it's one of the best seasons of TV period. Personally, I've loved every season, but 3-4 weren't as hotly talked about as the first 2. Season 5 is starting in November. All I know is that Jon Hamm is in it and that's good enough for me. The close-up of the license plates saying "DLR" is probably the clearest reference to the movie in this episode. I'm also fairly certain that Malvo ended up letting the salesman go, but it's left unclear. The salesman was seen in the diner saying hi to Lester at the start of the episode, and Lester was trying (and failing) to get him to upgrade his insurance plan back in episode 1.

Brandon

Actually, the door to Malvo's cabin was unlocked.

Brandon

Great watching with you two! I actually think season 2 is better, if that is possible. Can’t wait to start that one!

Jason Turner

It's somewhat ambiguous but the evidence that the show gives us says that Malvo actually let the used car salesman go. When Lester looks out at his full driveway after Malvo flees, both cars are gone and we know that Malvo escapes in Pepper and Budge's FBI car. There was also no reason for him to have bothered wasting time hiding the other vehicle if it was still there.

Brad P

And the scene where he tells the Dad and his kids about the killings in the house and implies it's now haunted.

David Martin

I missed that! But I'm pretty sure he and his wife were in Lou's restaurant after Lorne killed Lester's wife. They were couple that said hi to Lester as he walked to the back door.

David Martin

Great reaction guys! Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but I think I like Fargo S1 & S2 even more than the original movie. And I LOVE the original movie!

Robert Livingood

I thought it was clever how the salesman who goes out with Loren to test drive the car was the same fellow that came into Monk Insurance, and Lester was trying to get him and his wife to take out life insurance. Lester warned him how the unexpected can always happen to you. Theft left without Lester being able to close the deal, At the end, he pleads to Loren to spare his life, that he has a young daughter. Of course, Loren killed him. (Hess let his insurance lapse. Take heed, get insurance!) lol

Grinznmore

Some say there is a ghost that haunts the Fargo area. A ghost with silver wisps of hair whom if you looked upon him, it meant your death was near. Billy Bob Thornton played an amazing villain, debatably the greatest villain on TV. I can't wait for your reaction to Season 2! The story and characters are just as good. Hope the family is doing well!

Dajefe70

Lorne even suggested he was the devil himself when he told Lou that it was the best piece of pie he'd had since the Garden of Eden.

Brad P

There were so many times in this series I thought that Lorne was literally the devil. Not only did he seem to have supernatural powers but he also really liked screwing with people and / or corrupting them, even if it seemingly put him at risk. I thought for sure he'd get away. There was even a brief moment that I thought Lorne might actually be Lester's split personality or not a real person.

Ed R

I agree, l think Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men is definitely the best villain in this universe (I like to think all these stories and characters exist in the same cinematic universe), or at least the scariest, with that coin flipping, terrifying; BUT Lorne Malvo is definitely high up there, especially because I think he could do things that Chigurh couldn't. I can't imagine Anton Chigurh successfully pretending to be a happy go lucky dentist for six months to flush out a mark lol, no way. And Billy Bob's portrayal was just more fun, not exactly a sympathetic character but he made me laugh more than once. Man I can't wait for you guys to watch season 2, it's SO good! Also, you probably noticed too, I saw on Hulu that Fargo is supposed to be back on November 21st, so a fifth season, about time! A lot of people didn't like the third and/or fourth season, I thought they were okay, but it's been a while so I'm hoping the show runners had time to figure out what worked and what didn't, anyway I'm hoping it measures up.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Great show. My only wtf moment is how does a mailman get away with breaking and entering and murder? On to season 2! I must once again recommend the tv show Goliath with Billy Bob.

Mr. Chumpus

There's some great references to Coen Brothers films in Season 2. I think you'll catch a lot of them although there's an intense scene that's a major homage to one of their films that I don't think you guys have seen yet (you'll still find the scene very effective regardless).

Brad P

Ah can't believe we didn't make that connection to No Country! Very cool, thanks for sharing! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haha no convincing needed, indeed! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Bill's decision to retire is a nod to Sheriff Bell, Tommy Lee Jones' character in No Country for Old Men. Both men can no longer comprehend the violence and inhumanity that they've witnessed and realize it's time to move on. The music that plays over the final scene is the theme music from Fargo, the film, and is based on an old Norwegian folk song. It is heard again at different points in Seasons 2 and 3, both of which are highly recommended.

Brad P

OK, you MUST watch the second season. I suspect you don't need much convincing, but I'll give you a hint that's not a spoiler. You get a few very tiny clues to the characters from Season 1, but it's never stated clearly.
