Action Movie Poll!

Help pick the Action movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

*NOTE: I have seen Desperado, Face/Off, Crank & The Rundown, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction.

We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

Comments

These are just additional/general suggestions, that I hope you guys are able to watch at some point :) - Searching, United 93, Warrior (2011 film), Looper, & Million Dollar Baby

norms

Good to know. I didn't know they had a letterbox account.

Heaby

The 13h Warrior -- Antonio Banderas goes a-viking. The Rocketeer -- Howard Hughes builds a jetpack. Nazis want it.

Bill Woods

I know Children of Men is one they saw before the channel began (they've mentioned it a couple times), but The Matrix is on their Letterboxd "Movies We've Seen" list: https://letterboxd.com/tbr_schmitt/list/movies-weve-seen/

Paul Cox

Falling Down hands down among these. Others I'd recommend are Children of Men, Ronin, Sicario, The Edge, The Matrix & Training Day. I'm kinda shocked you haven't seen The Matrix and Sicario yet.

Heaby

The Raid needs to be on this poll.

Steven Montano

Gotta be some better action movie options

Cody Sutton

Layer cake is great, thanks for adding it!

Chris Bruneau

Speaking of Craig, I noticed Layer Cake was added to the TBR Schmitt watchlist on Letterboxd recently. Hope we get a reaction to that one on the channel.

Paul Cox

I just saw this movie last week, and I would have voted for it if it was a choice! I thought of it as a dark comedy, but it was terrific!

Mark Murphy

I'm hoping Falling Down wins, even though I would never have considered it an action film. It's more like an intense drama. I think Daniel and Sam would love it. I really hope we get to Road House and The Last Boy Scout soon too!

Future Boy

RRR

Vlasios Vougiouklis

Face/Off. Falling Down is great but it's not an action movie. Last Boy Scout is another good choice. Bullet Train was just silly.

Odd Thomas

You need to see The Last Boy Scout. It's a great Bruce Willis movie that I think a lot of people have missed :D

Robin Cederholm

My vote is Clearly for Falling Down !! It is a Masterpiece !!! But more a Thriller and Drama !!! Love Michael Douglas

Florian Meier

Wow this is a tough one to pick from I changed my mind so many times I'm unsure what I voted now 😀 face off ofc is fantastic and you love crazy Nicholas cage so can't go wrong with that , nobody was a pleasant surprise ngl and extraction 1 and 2 I had no expectations and they were both awesome but anyways can't go wrong with any on the list tbh 🥳

Ian

Falling Down is not what I would consider truly an Action movie. It has action scenes, but it's more a character study on the effects of society on an individual. I will still vote for it. Michael Douglas is great in it

Athos Count de la Fère

Man, that’s a lot of good selections. You might have to run this back or just take the top 3.

James Whalen

I am very pleased to see Face/Off AND Falling Down pretty much running away with the votes so far. Completely different tones from one another, but excellent material for reactions.

Look out, Arbogast!

Another recommendation... The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

Brad P

Man, THE LAST BOY SCOUT is great.

Philip Davetas

Shoot 'em up (2007)

christopher brown

I see Face/Off is winning, but there are but there are far more entertaining and better movies on this list. I would suggest Bullet Train, Falling Down, or The Last Boy Scout before Face/Off (even Crank and Desperado, but you saw those).

Vwlss Nvwls

I've got two words for you from the man, Peter Griffin: "Rrrroad House"

ShadowVessel π

"I've been chasing this guy ever since I joined the force. He has no conscience, and he shows no remorse. He's the mastermind behind numerous bombings and political assassinations. He has a felony list a mile long: murder, arson, kidnapping, terrorism, you name it! He's the most dangerous and brilliant criminal mind I've ever known. For years I've been watching him, tracking him, studying his every move. I know his every mannerism or facial tick gesture. I know him better than he knows himself. And now after all this time I've finally figured out a way to trap him: I will become him." Face/off is terrific!

Scott Kerr

I used to love those shoot 'em up action style 90s films. I kind of have a personal admiration for a movie called The Replacement Killers (1998) with Chow Yun-fat and Mira Sorvino too. I don't know. I guess it's kind of a guilty pleasure movie for me.

Scott Kerr

Something very close to it, that oddly embraces sensitivity, is "God Bless America," but even that was 12 years ago.

Jimmie V

I think that should go without saying but the real question is...Daniel in a wig? Yes or no? 😆

mikethemotormouth

Falling Down is a movie that probably couldnt be made in this day and age. such a great movie

Brian Sevilla

At the risk of giving away any spoilers ( that's some of the fun with these movies, is seeing which "old action star " pops up, I don't want to drop names of who else to check out before watching. I'll leave that up to you, to decide if you want to check out the cast list for each movie on imdb 🙂 but even if you haven't seen some other movies, I think you've seen enough to cover a lot of the cast, and be able to recognize faces and names of others 😉 Definitely looking forward to watching these with you. The newest 4th installment should be out now or in a couple days I believe, so its a great time to get caught up! 🙂

Ed Garland

Other recommendations... Both of The Raid films. Jackie Chan's Police Story 1-3 (he made other Police Story films but the rest don't match the original trilogy). Normally the first two action films I would recommend to anyone are John Woo's The Killer and Hard Boiled. Unfortunately there's currently a rights issue that makes them not easy to see.

Brad P

I haven’t seen Crank or Bullet Train, but this is a “can’t go wrong” poll lol

oldcdog

Crank is fun, but it's Crank 2 that really levels up in absurdity the same way Evil Dead 2 and Gremlins 2 did.

Paul Cox

Face/Off definately! but Falling Down and Desperado are also a must watch.

Eddy

as for this list, Desperado is really good.

Chris Bruneau

My few suggestions for actions films: Ronin (1998), the Transporter (2002), the entire series of Bond films with Daniel Craig, starting with Casino Royale

Chris Bruneau

I'd long surmised that Desperado might be total Schmitt-bait, and now I know it was since Daniel's already seen it. So good, though!

Paul Cox

If you wind up watching Face/Off, you two should sit on the opposite sides of each other than you usually do.

Michael G. Munz

Definitely Face/Off, but I really, really want to see a reaction to Last Boyscout too!

TGrimace

Definitely are going to do The Expendables! I think there were a few more action stars we wanted to check out before we got to it! Let us know which other stats we need! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Can you please do the Expendables trilogy. I think you're very familiar with Stallone, and Schwarzenegger, and several others, and would really enjoy and appreciate these movies!! Thank you so much! 🙂🙂

Ed Garland

"Face/Off", if, for no other reason, just to experience the pinnacle of 90's Jon Woo-style over-the-top action insanity.

Thomas Yanez

Face Off dude, Face off!

Edgar Gonzalez

All great picks. Gotta go with Face/Off for now!

EdmanXERO

The Rundown is a hilarious action-comedy buddy movie!

Reed James

Face/Off
