F/VoH Ch 67: Lodging on the Outskirts of Powncrow
Added 2024-09-22 15:52:56 +0000 UTCRyan began to eat slowly, savoring the first bite of chocolate bread. Each bite felt soft, with the melted chocolate filling spreading a distinctive sweetness in Ryan's mouth.
A faint smile appeared on Ryan's face. For a moment, a sense of peace enveloped him—a brief moment of tranquility that Ryan rarely found amidst the chaos of missions and battles.
A gentle breeze blew through his hair as Ryan sipped on his mocachino ice cream, enjoying the coolness flowing down his throat.
But even though Ryan's body was relaxed, his mind remained alert; his sharp eyes occasionally scanned the passing crowd. There was something in the air of this city, something that kept Ryan on his toes.

On the other side, Rosseline walked briskly along the cobbled streets of Powncrow, her sharp eyes observing every corner. Rosseline's usually calm face now looked serious.
In the distance, Rosseline spotted a city guard—a burly man in armor that looked old yet sturdy, typical of medieval style.
Rosseline approached with a confident demeanor. "Hello," Rosseline greeted softly yet firmly.
The guard turned, slightly surprised by Rosseline's arrival. "Yes? How can I help you?"
"Where can I find a simple, cheap inn on the outskirts of the city?" Rosseline asked, offering a faint friendly smile, though beneath it lay hidden tension.
The guard scratched his chin, thinking for a moment before responding. "A cheap inn, huh? There are a few in the western district. It's a bit remote, but the prices are quite affordable."
"Thank you, sir," Rosseline replied with a slight nod before turning and continuing on her way.
After crossing several blocks and increasingly deserted alleys, Rosseline finally arrived in the western district.
This area was different from the city center; small houses lined the streets, some already beginning to show signs of age. The streets here were quieter, with only the occasional passerby moving quickly.
Rosseline walked with caution, each of her footsteps echoing clearly on the empty street.
After asking locals for directions a few times, Rosseline finally reached the intended inn—a simple wooden building that looked almost neglected, with small dusty windows and walls that were starting to fade.
Rosseline paused for a moment in front of the inn, her eyes scanning the surroundings. This place was indeed remote, just as the city guard had described.
The air here felt cooler, and the quiet atmosphere added a mysterious touch. However, that was exactly what they needed—a discreet place to hide.
Rosseline entered the inn cautiously, her eyes still alert. The interior was not much different from the exterior—simple, with old wooden furniture and dim lighting.
Rosseline looked around, ensuring there was nothing suspicious, before finally approaching the reception desk to book a room.
"Is there anything I can help you with, young lady?" A soft, friendly voice from an elderly woman greeted Rosseline as she entered the inn.
The elderly woman stood behind the reception desk, her face lined with wrinkles but adorned with a sincere smile. Her completely gray hair was neatly draped over her shoulder, while her bright black eyes radiated warmth. The elderly woman wore a simple dark purple dress, layered with a brown leather jacket that had begun to fade with time.
"Hello," Rosseline replied in a calm voice, though her tone carried a hint of caution. "Do you have a room available for four people?"
The elderly woman nodded, her friendly smile never fading from her lips. "Of course, young lady. For how many days? Would you like a room with meals prepared each day, or would you prefer without meals?"
