Drama Film Poll!

Help pick the Drama movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

*NOTE: I have seen American Beauty & Donnie Darko, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction. Sam has been The Pianist, so this would only be my first time watching!

We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

Comments

Sad to see The Insider continuing to lag on these polls. Someday...

Tyler Foster

The non censored version of French Connection is now available on Max

Birdie Num Num

Another amazing drama is The Piano - not to be confused with The Pianist. Holly Hunter, Sam Neill, Harvey Keitel.

Neal Romanek

Yeah, lots of really good movies on this poll, but The Pianist is probably the best.

Neal Romanek

amazing film

Nick Sneddon

yep i would recommend subtitles also!

Nick Sneddon

Great film!

Catherine LW

I love Barry Lyndon. Maybe my favorite Kubrick.

iliketostayhome

They’ll need subtitles. I tried to watch it and could barely understand half of what they’re saying. Glaswegian accent, I think.

Catherine LW

The Pianist is the best and most underrated movie on this poll. You guys must watch this. A true story

James

Sad that The Pianist is losing. Among the best on the list.

Catherine LW

The outsiders holds a special place in my heart cause it takes place and was filmed where I live. It’s also a movie that launched a bunch of huge careers

JoshG

Man, TRAINSPOTTING is the best. That said, it might mess up Sam a little.

Philip Davetas

October Sky -- High school boys in a WV coal town try to build a rocket.

Bill Woods

Trainspotting is a masterpiece.

esclad

Several good ones here that I would be happy with. Don’t remember if you’ve done it in the past, but continuing to draw from some of these lists in the future would be great. No need in letting all but one strongly voted for title fall by the wayside.

David Wilkins

Legends of the Fall (1994) Meet Joe Black (1998)

Jonathan Patrick

My vote's for Mystic River. I saw it once, 20 years ago when it came out. It was great, but boy was it a tough watch. I think I'm finally ready to see it again. I think.

Future Boy

RRR

Vlasios Vougiouklis

There are few films I despise more than Trainspotting

Odd Thomas

City of God being in last place is sort of depressing(and surprising since its #26 on imdb's top 250, which is generally a pretty mainstream sort of list imo).

Birdie Num Num

Mystic River and Beeing John Malkovich !!! For the next Drama Poll I recommend "Kramer vs Kramer" with Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep !!! Both become an Oscar !!! Also i recommend "Marathon Man" from 1976 with Dustin Hoffman and "Papillon" from 1973 With Dustin Hoffman and Steve Mcqueen and "Five Easy Pieces" from 1970 with Jack Nicholson

Florian Meier

To Live and Die in LA. I was living in LA at the time and the locations were very familiar.

Athos Count de la Fère

Had to go for trainspotting because I've never seen it and my brother is always in shock I've never seen it so if it wins I will finally get around to it 👍

Ian

Mystic River by far. If anyone hasn’t seen it, you need to.

James Whalen

Yeah, it doesn't look like it's streaming anywhere currently. And The French Connection is now apparently difficult to find streaming in its non-censored version.

Brad P

I have only seen To Live and Die reacted to once and that was by special request by myself lol. Apparently it is very difficult to find streaming.

Mark M

I voted for just about everything on this poll lol I wasn't particularly helpful. Good choices.

PIG

While they can just as easily be classified as action/thriller films as they can drama, I highly recommend the late William Friedkin's films The French Connection, Sorcerer and To Live and Die in L.A.

Brad P

I voted American Beauty. It's the perfect example of a pre-9/11 film. Good movie.

Mike the Ginger

The Insider is based on a true story, thus a little scary...

Will D

very few pre 90s films seem to make the polls. so maybe consider these: Barry Lyndon, Dog Day Afternoon, Nashville, The Conversation, Deliverance, Last Picture Show, Cool Hand Luke, In the Heat of the Night, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Graduate

Birdie Num Num

The Insider is a Michael Mann masterpiece. Mystic River also one of my faves.

Jonathan Patrick

Crowe basically won the Oscar for Gladiator for his performance in The Insider - he is good in Gladiator but he was next level in The Insider.

Jason Dolan

Russell Crowe gives an outstanding performance along with Pacino and Plummer

Brian Sevilla

These are great films to choose from. Would love to see “The Mission” added to the bunch in the future.

Patrick Clemens

Right? I don't know why any Michael Mann film wouldn't be an automatic yes vote for everyone.

Paul Cox

Sam: so glad to hear--I have recommended that film for a long while, its a fantastic Holiday film. My family used to watch it together every Thanksgiving weekend!!

Chris Bruneau

Man, this is a tough list--there are NO bad films on it! I personally love Mystic river and American Beauty

Chris Bruneau

As far as a suggestion this is more of a crime/drama, I've suggested this before idk if its on your list or not lol it's "Carlitos Way" Al Pacino, it's in the same vein as Scarface/Goodfellas/ A Bronx tale, I know y'all would enjoy it maybe sometime in the future 🙏😊

dieselbeast

Has to be Trainspotting, prolly the best British film of the 90s. The Insider is also a film that flies under the radar a lot, it's fantastic

Nick Sneddon

Donnie Darko is one of the best films ever made but I will admit, there is no way it can be reacted to in one video. It would take several videos to react to properly. It is a true masterpiece ❤️

Edward Reaney

Thanks, Sam. "A River Runs Through It" and "Kramer vs. Kramer" (1979) are two legendary family dramas, especially for young families.

Erwin Quiachon

Scent of a Woman is on the schedule for November! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh yes! Definitely on our list! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I recommend adding "Scent of A Woman" (1992) for Autumnal season and "A River Runs Through It" (1992)

Erwin Quiachon

Mystic River is one of Clint Eastwood's best directed films. One of my favorites growing up.

kbobravo

The Insider is so good

Jason Dolan

Anything except American Beauty.

Robert Boyd

American Beauty and Being John Malkovich are such great movies. Hope one of those win 😁

Lee Brennan

Being John Malkovich is crazy and fantastic

Tostito Buddy

Oh you got a tough one here, they're all good movies! The Insider is the only one I'm not familiar with.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Oh cool, nobody reacts to The Outsiders. Make sure to watch the uncut version 👌

ShadowVessel π

Been asking for the pianist for a while. lol Definitely voting for that again!!

Forrest

Prob already on your radar / queue, but "Uncut Gems" is an excellent drama. A serious Adam Sandler role.

iliketostayhome

American Beauty, or , and Being John Malkovich

Will Zamora

Wether outsiders wins or not good lord the cast is a who's who of actors before they became who they would become 🙏

dieselbeast

A lot of these are excellent, but Trainspotting is the standout for me.

iliketostayhome

Lost in translation!
