Well the only 2 u realistic things I saw in this was Cages haircut when he was in the Rangers and the depiction of the plane taking forever to land. The C130 air craft can land and take off on a postage stamp. Yup. The only 2 unrealistic things for sure.

I finally got around to catching up with your full reactions, so this comment is waaaay late. I saw this movie 4 times in the theatre with my older sister, we loved this movie so much. We did the same thing with The Rock too. It's definitely an experience in a theatre full of people.

Around the same time John Cusack made another little action flick called GROSSE POINT BLANK. Not sure how everyone else feels about it, but it's great.

Here's a vote for The Grifters, not just for Cusack but Annette Bening and Anjelica Huston.

Can't recall John Malkovich as the main villain in many movies other than this one, Clint Eastwood's In the Line of Fire, and Mat Damon's Rounders. He was also great in Burn after Reading with Brad Pitt and Francis McDormand but not exactly a villain. Best John Cusack for me was Grifters which I haven't seen mentioned yet.

What a great reaction to a great movie! John Malkovich was awesome as Cyrus The Virus. Nicholas Cage as Cameron Poe was a great hero. Driven, genuine and always wanting to do the right thing. Quick recommend: "Rounders" with John Malkovich. ( :E

My brother loves watching you guys on YT (but only I am a Patreon, bwahaha) and he's honestly been wondering for like a year when you guys were going to watch Con Air, so when I told him you would this week it made him very happy. It's a bit over the top for me but it's definitely a fun film and you always gotta love Steve. As always, great reaction! β€οΈ So I wanted to leave my movie recommendations of these actors for you guys: for John Malkovich I completely recommend Burn After Reading (2008) by the Coen Brothers and a magnificent cast. As other people have suggested Being John Malkovich (1999) which also has John Cusack in it, and my personal favourite of Malkovich is Empire of the Sun (1987) with Joe Pantoliano and a very baby Christian Bale! For Nicholas Cage I recommend Adaptation (2002) which also has Meryl Streep as always being amazing (and small glimpses of John Malkovich and John Cusack too, directed by Spike Jonze who also directed Being John Malkovich, the movies are connected but you don't have to watch one to understand the other). And for John Cusack I'd recommend 1408 (2007) with Sam Jackson, based on a Stephen King novel. Those are my picks. π

Also, there is Being John Malcovich where a guy discovers a door that opens up into John Malcovich's head and you get to be him. Also written by Charlie Kaufman.

Want a crazy Nic Cage movie. Try Adaptation where he plays screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (who wrote the film) hired to adapt a novel called the Orchid Thief (a real novel) and his descent into madness that mirrors Charlie Kaufman (the real one) attempt to adapt Orchid Thief into a movie. It's a surreal movie.

Rounders would be great movie to watch John Malkovich act in. And you should definitely watch Being John Malkovich. It also has John Cusack in it as well.

My favorite Cusack movie, by far, is Grosse Pointe Blank. Definitely recommend adding that to your list. It has like 3 other Cusacks in it.

This is one of my favorite movies and I dunno why but I could have sworn the little girl wasn't real. I could have sworn like they showed them once and only he was there. He is crazy after all. but maybe not. IDK.
The whole thing about "you are military trained the law doesn't apply to you the same way" I'm pretty sure is not a thing and just made up for the movie. And I know 99% of the time that someone says their hands are considered lethal weapons it's all just showing off/bragging and not really true.
I dunno if it's actually a real thing. Lethal force is lethal force no matter how it's applied. But it was self-defense and he shouldn't have been in jail and I don't believe he would have gotten convicted of murder in real life.

After The Rock and Con Air, I'd love to see a "serious" Nic Cage film next. My first choice would be Bringing Out the Dead (1999). In my opinion, a very underrated Martin Scorsese film. Very dark, with strong Taxi Driver vibes. And a great cast: John Goodman, Patricia Arquette, Ving Rhames, Tom Sizemore, Aida Turturro (Janice from Sopranos).

I guess people don't know who Jerry Bruckheimer is these days. In the 80s he produced Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop and then in the 90s, a summer Jerry Bruckheimer movie was always a big event.
1995 - Bad Boys and Crimson Tide, 1996 - The Rock, 1997 - Con Air, 1998 - Enemy of the State and Armageddon. Then he did the Pirates of the Caribbean movies in the early 2000s.
He had a knack for putting unusual actors in these big action movies. Nicolas Cage was more like Joaquin Phoenix back then and people really doubted he could star in this kind of movie. Johnny Depp was mostly Tim Burton's guy and then Bruckheimer put him in Pirates.
