I'd also recommend Days of Heaven, but maybe for an off-channel watch. It's a brilliant film and gorgeous to look at, though it's a real slow burn (like much of Malick's work) making it kind of difficult to "react" to.

If you want more Malick after Thin Red Line I highly recommend Tree of Life with Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain.

As many have said, Thin Red line is amazing piece of work, its a really tough call between this and Apocalypse Now. Really interested to hear your thoughts about the story, the characters and the overall theme of the film both the literal and metaphysical.

The Thin Red Line is like no other “war” movie, ever. For that reason, many people don’t like it. But it’s a profound work of art that I love. I prefer describing it as an “internal war movie”, where much is described through the internal conflict of individual characters.

OMG OMG OMG THE THIN RED LINE 😭 One of my favorite movies of all time. I'm so excited to watch you guys react to it. It's not everyone's cup of tea since most people expect action when they watch a war movie, but this movie is so beautiful... there are no words. 🥰

Can’t wait for your Con Air reaction. One movie that I never get tired of watching.

I hope this doesn't sound insensitive, but The Thin Red Line seems like such a beautiful film. I know it's a war film, but it has many anti-war elements to it that have a somewhat spiritual reality associated with them. It's hard to explain. You'll have to see for yourself.

You're absolutely right. I stand corrected. Bruckheimer was a producer which is probably why it feels like a Bay movie to me. But there isn't all the camera movement which dhoukd have been a giveaway

Con Air isn't a Michael Bay film. It's a Simon West film.

Oh, wow, The Thin Red Line! I’m interested in Daniel’s reaction to this since he is a big fan of Saving Private Ryan. They both were released in 1998, and I think they’re both brilliant WWII films.

I believe Badlands was the first time Martin Sheen did his putting-on-a-coat-in-one-move trick on film. There's a supercut out there of every time he did it on The West Wing.

Con Air is the Michael Bay-est of Michael Bay movies. A lot of bombast without much substance, but still a fun ride - even if you forget half the movie about 30 minutes after the end credits

There's a lot of content that was cut for sure. I mean, at least from the book. But I understand why. But a lot of Terrance Malick's flicks are great to look at. Me, my personal favorite, is BADLANDS, which is pretty much what turned into a movie called TRUE ROMANCE.

I read the book a few years before the movie, and for its faults, it's still a pretty good adaptation for what is a very difficult book to put on film.
Typical Malick beautifully shot movie. A shame none of the thousands of feet of cut footage will never be put back in

The Thin Red Line has most of the main cast in it, from Casualties of War (1989) homage from the director.

Man. THIN RED LINE. I read that book then I saw the movie. The book is brutal. As for the movie, it is just beautiful to look at.
