I'm sure you've probably had Christopher Guest's comedies recommended before. Eugene Levy and Jennifer Coolidge were both part of Guest's usual ensemble.

The whole Stifler's Mom + Fintch final scene is a throwback to "The Graduate", an iconic 1960s movie about a teenager being seduced by an older woman. Dustin Hoffman played the kid, I think it was one of his first roles. The song playing in the background in American Pie during final hookup - "Mrs. Robinson", was written for that film by Simon & Garfunkel and is one of the most recognisable film songs.
They reversed the dialog in American Pie a little bit, in "The Graduate" it was young Dustin Hoffman, asking Mrs Robinson if she's trying to seduce him. Overall a great throwback, but most of the younger generation probably wouldn't get it.

I saw this movie the first time when I was 15... let's just say it changed my "perspective". XD
Puberty aside, it's still one of my favorites with a lot of heart. I'm glad you both reacted to it!

I was cracking up. Sam: "Aren't you glad we're having a girl?"

I have to reiterate what David Crabtree wrote. These films were raunchy, but they had a TON of heart. Not to mention they were HUGE box office hits. Thank you so much for watching, I actually watched the full movie along with you guys. Believe it or not, I saw the sequel in theaters in August 2001, 22 years ago! I highly recommend American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion! - Mike the Ginger

So there are 4 movies in the main THEATRICAL movie series, which I listed above. The straight-to-video spinoffs (American Pie Presents: Band Camp, etc.) have their own storylines with different characters.

All of the films are really great.. I think there's 4 or 5 of them.. There was a newer one where they get together as well..
The thing with The Little Mermaid was funny, because when I was a kid I had a crush on Ariel. I would go around and talk about Ariel constantly to all my friends and then I'd like say bad things about her dad being a dick. It was just like automatic that I didn't realize what I was doing until after a while I saw the reactions from them and then I was super embarrassed.

Great reaction! I adore this film and film series! I hope you guys watch and react to the other 3 movies in this film series - American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2012). These movies have their crude humor for sure, but they also have a lot of heart. And it's great to see this core group of characters develop over the films.

Fun fact: Sean William Scott who played Stiffler grew up in the town that I live in which is Cottage Grove, Minnesota.

Fun fact the MILF verbiage was originated in this movie. Another great contribution to our culture

I thought Sean William Scott was funnier in Road Trip than the American Pie films.

Classic. I always laugh so hard at this π The second movie is a true "Lethal Weapon", "Aliens" level of sequel, too. Hope you're all doing ok. Getting any sleep?

Okay googled the difference and based on the "pie" scene, it should be the unrated!
