I know this is an older post but consider checking out the 1930 All Quiet. Best version of the actual story the book was trying to tell.

I am probably your most annoying patron when it comes to recommending this particular movie so I apologize for that. I just know you both have enjoyed Steven Spielberg films in the past and that's him at his best and most personal. I would say everyone involved in this movie, both in front and behind the camera, was at their best.

I hope at some point you consider reacting to the 1930 version of All Quiet on the Western Front, which in my opinion is way better than the 2022 version. The 1930 version is quite possibly the best anti-war film that I've ever seen and holds up incredibly well in just about every way for a film that's almost 100 years old. There's also a 1979 version, which was made for television I believe, that is quite good as well. The 2022 version tried to make too many changes that ultimately didn't add anything substantial to what was already a great story that didn't need to be altered. Although I will give it props for casting actual Germans as the main characters and the cinematography. Hope you enjoy watching it, but I will be sticking to the YouTube clipped version for this one. P.S. Keeping my fingers crossed that you two will be reacting to Con Air in the near future.

2023-08-13 18:22:05 +0000 UTCAll Quiet is a major departure from the book, but interestingly has a few inclusions that the other two film versions don't include. That said, it's still excellent and the best anti war movie to come out in the last 20 years (imho)
