Over the Top (1987) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Agreed. Nighthawks is Such an underrated Stallone movie

Chet Overholt

Hey look at that. We agree on something!

Stan the Man

Let's not forget the legendary mullet.

Aaron Barlow

Fun fact most of the tournament footage was from the real Over the top tournament "Almost all of the footage in the film is from the actual tournament.’ The only exceptions were the shots that featured Stallone himself. Stallone’s on-screen matches, with Rick Zumwalt, Bruce Way and a few actors who were not genuine armwrestlers, were all filmed the day after the real finals" https://www.thearmwrestlingarchives.com/over-the-top-world-championship.html#:~:text=For%20that%20reason%2C%20many%20of,Rick%20Zumwalt%2C%20and%20Cleve%20Dean.

Aaron Barlow

You guys made this movie a really fun watch:)

Mark M

Not his best but Daylight was probably his last great 90s movie. Worth a look.

Odd Thomas

A few years back I realized the song "Meet Me Halfway" is a metaphor for arm wrestling - where the arms meet halfway across the sky. Then again, that might be a stretch... crazy coincidence tho.

Michael Kang-Beats

Yup I'm looking forward to all these and hopefully afterall those, Time Cop and Sudden Death which was his peak.

Jonathan Patrick

omg, the wrong creator lol

Mike Adams

💯

Duncan

I really love the movie "Assassins" with Stallone, Antonio Banderas, and Julianne Moore. I hope you two get to that one some day.

Vwlss Nvwls

I hate to break it to you, but I can't eat yogurt or oatmeal either, after seeing "The Fly".

Guston Zimasheen

Mike Adams

Yeah, that was rough. 😂

Marcus Cato

After The Fly, I can't watch arm wrestling.

Odd Thomas

Ahh, Hard Target. One day a reaction will come... One bad buy literally gets shot 5 times in the chest at point blank range, then kicked in the face, then shot 8 more times in the chest as he falls. Nobody's life is complete until they've seen Hard Target...

Future Boy

Once the song kicks in "winner takes it all" for the montage of arm wrestling scenes is so epic. Anyhow you will get to the Expendables series im assuming soon at some point so you guys def need a few more Van Damme movies on your list too. Kickboxer, Lionheart, Universal Soldier and Hard Target should be on the list once you get back to him.

Demos Samolis

Daniel recognised the grandfather right away. Robert Loggia. He was Feech in season 5 of The Sopranos. He was also Frank in Scarface. Robert Loggia's in quite a few films I'd love to see on the channel. But way out in front of all the others is Psycho 2, where he plays Norman's psychiatrist. Psycho 2, still my favourite horror film, still my favourite sequel in any genre. Hoping for it sometime this year (its 40th anniversary!)

Future Boy

Interesting. Thanks for the info

Mr. Chumpus

Assassins with Stallone and Antonio Banderas is a good one..you guys would like it.

Brian Anthony

Nighthawks is the best Stallone film they haven' seen

Ken Veader

Nighthawks (1981) I promise it's the best Stallone movie you guys haven't seen

Ken Veader

Gonna start calling Daniel "The Smasher".

James MacDonald

Lock Up (1989) another Stallone great film

Jonathan Patrick

Here’s a long winded answer: Do you live in Germany or have a German copy of the film? WB distributed the movie in North America but other companies distributed in various territories. MGM was the distributor in Germany. That’s how independently financed films work. This was done by the infamous “Cannon Films” & so like many other independent movie companies who work outside the big studio system, they sell the movie to various distributors all over the world(that’s how most of their profit will be made)). The distributors are responsible for theatre bookings, marketing, and depend on the distribution deal will get a big slice of the box office. It’s a gamble basically. The distributor is hoping the movie earns more than the fee they paid, while the financier reduces the risk of the movie not breaking even. One of the most infamous and short sighted distribution deals was New Line on the LOTR trilogy. They kept North America for themselves, so they’d market and distribute the movie and earn the theatrical revenue. But they sold the foreign distribution so that the cost of the movie wouldn’t sink the studio. They came to regret this decision big time when all the LOTR movies made more overseas than in NA. Especially Return of The King, which became the first movie since Titanic to earn over 1 billion dollars at the box office with over 70% of it coming from overseas. Edit: Oops I just read that your copy is WB and theirs is MGM. So they must have either used a Germany copy or they use a VPN to access various streaming services in other countries.

The greatest moment in the history of professional sports. "Finish it." "Work it! I want you to remember..." https://youtu.be/hAeinX5Pm7Y?t=522

Sergeant Pepper

On the surface yeah it has some 80s cheese but this movie holds a special place for me, I lost my father when I was 11 and this was one of his favorite movies, so anytime there's a father son dynamic in a movie it makes me feel some type of away 🙏 plus it has a great soundtrack lol edit: oh and btw Daniel next time you have the feeling of "this is gonna be rough" at the beginning of a movie just remember some of these movies are recommended for a reason lol us patrons will never steer yall wrong😁😎🙏

dieselbeast

For more Stallone I recommend "Daylight" from 1995, " Assassins" from 1996 with Antonio Banderas and Julianne Moore, "Cobra" from 1986 and "Lock Up" from 1989

Florian Meier

Oh Yeah!!! This is one of the Films i wait so long for your Reaction !!! I think you have to grew up with this film in the 80's !!! After all these Action Films it was so great to see Sly in this Father and Son Story !! So the thing is younger People who see it the first time maybe approach the Film differently... For me is the Film better than most of the Films that Comes out Today.. One of my all Time Childhood Films !!! I think this is one of the movies when you grew up in the 70's or 80's you watch it over and over again because of the memories you have and for me and many others a underrated Classic ... also a classic Soundtrack !!! Meet me Halfway!!

Florian Meier

I'm wondering why your copy is MGM and mine is Warner Bros. Possibly got dropped by MGM?

Mr. Chumpus

"TELL 'IM, SMASHER!"

EdmanXERO
