WHAT

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Comments

I humbly suggest that u two put out another reaction video after u've imbibed some theories... cause I assure u, there's plenty to appreciate about the ending... EDIT: by which I mean just the ending wrap-up reaction!

Ema

Amen!

PIG

I love the ending. Not at first… but like the others have already wrote, now that I understand it I really like it.

PIG

I'm with you. I still don't like it. And I agree with the person that described as something a film student would come up with.

Marcus Cato

This what they do in amateur college films. The Sopranos is better than an amateur college film.

Brandon

I’ve watched this a number of times by now. So when the screen goes black, (I understand now what happened), I get a little choked up. It’s dramatically powerful. The finality of Tony Soprano hits me, and a tear or two falls. Every damn time.

James Battista

This is the CORRECT ANSWER

James Battista

I remember watching the finale, and saying "WTF????" It felt like a cheap fake out to me, I never liked it

Chris Bruneau

I have a for sure one but can’t say anything til it’s up lol. No rush. Gotta watch that Pauly though…..

Jonny Kerr (JK)

Unfortunately he gave zero fucks with 'The Many Saints of Newark' also...

Marko Horvat

I will continue to say that David Chase has proved (with his Many Saints Prequel) that his talents are really in the Writer's Room. Where he can hire the best writers, structure out an entire season. Edit and move over stories, etc. Also that ending...may it be a "WHAT THE F" moment....(look up Seth McFarlene Family Guy Emmy's song) it still has people talking 20 years later. Pondering what exactly happened. Who's theories are right or wrong. Is Tony dead or Alive? If dead, what about Carmella, Meadow, AJ? Is it just cut to black because this is just the end of our story....Tony will die or be arrested sometime in the future?

Ghost Crusaders

The way I look at it, in that last scene in the diner as the music is playing, everytime Tony looks up to see who is entering the restaurant as the door bells chime, we(the audience) immediately cut to see what/who Tony is seeing, (Carmela walking in, AJ walking in, other patrons walking in), and when he looks up that final time as the door bell chimes, it cuts to black. My interpretation is that Tony was shot in that instance so when we the audience cut to see black, we're seeing exactly what Tony was seeing.

David Crabtree

Yessss Fargo the series is the best show ever. The writing and the acting is crazy good.

Jonny Kerr (JK)

:) :) :)

24fps_

Ballsiest end to a show ever. David Chase gave zero fucks.

David Murray

Wait. What happened? Did you guys watch the finale of SOPRANOS or something?

Philip Davetas

I didn't watch along since I wasn't into watching that long series over again. But I expected this response to the finale. LOL How about something short next? 🙂 "FARGO" would be awesome. And even if you go more than one season, the characters and story changes from season to season.

Mr. Writhms

Watched it live all those years ago, definitely thought the cable went out at first, then the HBO logo popped up. I did not understand it at first and was underwhelmed. Now, like a lot of people, I think it’s brilliant. They had the gumption to put an abstract arthouse ending on a popular Mafia TV show. I think the answer to “what happened” is pretty clear once you understand the POV shots, but it’s asking a lot of the audience.

Jim Barnes

I didn't love "Many Saints of Newark" either, but the idea that the generation of mob guys that came before the current mob guys were any less flawed and crappy people is kind of weird to me.

Brandon

I think Bobby heard at least a few of those shots. 😅

Brandon

every second she delays buys Tony a few more precious moments of existence

Ema

In a way, I think the screen cutting to black is the show's way of letting us off the hook. How much more of this guy alienating everyone around him do we need to see? It's like the show is saying that we shouldn't care about what happens to this guy one way or another. The last look on his face we see right before the cut is the expression of a man who doesn't even feel joy any more. I know people like to think Tony gets whacked, but really, by who? It's a far less interesting take on the ending IMO (and let's be honest, cutting to black right before someone gets shot is something people get out of their system in their early college film days). Tony is likely going to end up dying alone like Jr. will. He won't get the Scarface 'blaze of glory' ending.

Brandon

Going from The Sopranos to Many Saints of Newark is like going from eating filet mignon and ribeye steaks every day to eating roadkill and mothballs

Sol95

I know, Meadow's parallel parking is atrocious!

Richard

And that was before Twitter was a thing, so people weren't live-tweeting the show or giving instant feedback!

David Crabtree

WHY! , WHERE! , WHEN! Oh hang on is this like a sopranos thread 🤔 I don't watch it so wouldn't know tbh . Havnt watched any content for over 6 weeks so could be anything really 🤔🤔

Ian

My favorite theory: Tony & Paulie were the only characters from the show to witness the supernatural. The first instance being in Season 2 when Christopher was in a coma after being shot and had a message from hell for Tony & Paulie - 3:00. From that moment on they both had various signs from the "other side" throughout the series (Paulie going to the psychic, Tony's various dreams) however in the final season were the most important occurrences. Tony's entire coma dream is a message from the other side. And Paulie going seeing the virgin Mary at the bada bing. Tony of course ends up not learning a thing from the coma dream and becomes worse during Season 6B. We can presume what finally happens to Tony. But what about Paulie? Well..he actually has an epiphany after seeing the Virgin Mary and forgives his mother. He also stops being a complete shit head most of the time and tries to be better. What happens? His cancer miraculously goes away and he becomes the sole survivor of the series. In a show about people refusing to change their shitty behavior, Paulie (of all people!) ends up being the one to respond to the wake-up call. Truly amazing. Also for what it's worth, the direction of the bathroom the members only jacket guy goes into int he last scene is at Tony's 3:00

Wayne Delaune (cardaderdention)

That's more or less how I feel about the ending. Tony knows that there's really only two ways his story is going to end. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Jeffrey Miller

even if its not very good i hope you guys watch the many saints of newark next week or in the future

Joel bravo

BTW I think theres so much more to the ending other than if Tony lives or dies. It's a statement about life, and how it's going to end for all of us. So don't go through it like Tony soprano. Life doesn't have to be misery and sadness. Make everyday count and live life to the fullest, before you cut to black. In other words...dont stop believin.

Wayne Delaune (cardaderdention)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtiGl27jjxs&ab_channel=RickWorley my favorite video essay on the sopranos, also explains the weird opening of season 6 which i really like

Joel bravo

😂 would be different emojis for that! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Same 😂 but the internet lol -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LMAO! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

😂😂

TBR Schmitt

Nope! I loved going in knowing absolutely nothing about it but the outro was a rollercoaster 😂 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh no 😂 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

The speculation never ends. As someone who spends way too much time on the Sopranos subreddit. There are new theories and twists there are all the time.

Marcus Cato

😭😭😭

TBR Schmitt

@Tommy, I think you nailed it! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

😭

TBR Schmitt

"The movie never ends it goes on and on and on and onnnnn"

Wayne Delaune (cardaderdention)

Just finished watching it again, what a show!

Korny

Everybody had that same reaction. The circle never really closes; it just keeps going around and around. So what’s next?

Robert Boyd

It was impossible to avoid the very end of the series when it happened, so I know that much. I don't think it's a puzzle to be solved as if there are actually things that happen after the end. I think it's an ending that focuses on a theme rather than a plot point.

Jeffrey Miller

That's actually a fun reaction video because I think people can just watch the whole thing. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's public domain.

Marcus Cato

It's what we have been waiting six seasons for. This should be reaction gold.

Shaun2342!

I love it. I think it is one of the best of all-time.

Michael Kang-Beats

Top 5 greatest TV finales of all-time.

Michael Kang-Beats

Oh…. I thought Sam’s water broke! But yes this also deserves its own thread!

Sergeant Pepper

I kid you not, I literally thought my cable had gone out!

David Crabtree

People may be interested in rewatching the Season 6 Episode 1 Carmela's dream sequence. The words 'guardian angel' are spoken as Meadow is onscreen dancing for Finn. That scene contains numerous clues about upcoming events that are only clear after you see the whole season.

Marcus Cato

LOL Ah yes I remember that moment

peter spartz

One thing I'm confident about is that Daniel will enjoy Phil Leotardo's final scene. 😂

Marcus Cato

You are definitely not. I'm not a fan of the ending (meaning the final scene). Whenever I say that I don't like the ending, I get lots of downvotes on the Sopranos subreddit. So my guess is that most die-hard fans DO like the ending.

Marcus Cato

We all remember our first time lmao

Sol95

Took me a sec to realize you just finished the Sopranos finale lol

Smooticus

Do you guys wish you'd had some kind of warning? We couldn't really warn you without massive spoilers.

Tostito Buddy

Well at least you don't have to wait 20 years for a Prequel movie to come out and fuck up the timeline, the characters relationships and other characters we never saw before who we heard were like gods are actually, boring, under developed characters that add nothing to the Sorpranos lore. Then wait 2 more years for Chase to say: "I probably should have re-watched the series before I wrote the script" JON TRON: "WHAT?! WHAT THE F--"

Ghost Crusaders

Lots of people love it after they understand it.

Tommy Smith

Nope, I'm with ya!

Sharpgirl

They just finished the last episode of The Sopranos haha

Rue

Same

Korny

Awesome

Sharpgirl

Nah, I love the ending. It's perfect.

Domino

"you probably don't even hear it when it happens"

Tommy Smith

I recommend watching an "Ending Explained" video to go through what exactly happened and what it means. A shocking but perfect ending that would have only worked for the Sopranos!

Tommy Smith

Fin.

Carlos Hurtado

I’m like the only person that likes that ending

Night King01

I found this video had the best explanation of what happened at the end, I highly recommend you check it out it's very well made the YT channel name is "Scenic Media" title of video The Sopranos-final scene analysis, everything is there to let us know what happened 👀

dieselbeast

It's been over a decade, and I still go 'wtf' whenever I think about it...

John

No, What's on 2nd.

Nicotti

Lol. Don't stop believin', Sam

Ellie Miller

Yep, i reacted the same way when i saw it. I had to go online a read this interview by David chase where he explains why he ended the show the way he did.

Edgar Gonzalez
