Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Remember seeing this at the cinema 🎥 great ending. To me it ends with the trilogy. The River Phoenix prequel start was a huge surprise then. And River had worked with Harrison Ford few years before on The Mosquito Coast.

Backlog Andy M.

The location with the ornate building carved in the rock face is Petra in Jordan.

Aaron Barlow

What I find sad is that millions of terminally ill and disabled people could've made the pilgrimage to the Grail cave and become healed if it wasn't for the greed of that Nazi woman.

Aaron Barlow

Ewwww when TBR said "sloppy seconds" it was even more disgusting seeing as it was father-son lol.

Aaron Barlow

I love this movie only slightly less than Raiders. While I do respect Temple for being so different I can never bring myself to watch it anymore. The only thing I do not like about Crusade is that they basically reduce the Grail to being useless as the immortality achieved is only good if you stay in the area and that is kind of meaningless. The immortality should have had no limit BUT once the Grail was destroyed then the immortality was gone as clearly we can't have the group actually ending the movie being immortal lol. While I hate being a Negative Nancy I hated hated hated Dial of Destiny. Yes I realized that Ford being an old man can't do stunts anymore but the bigger picture with most modern action movies is they are all CGI cartoons and there is no wow factor, thank you Tom Cruise for trying to stomp this out. Older action movies featured action, while staged, that is still Real.

Andrew Roach

Yes !!! One of my personal favorite

Florian Meier

I would add What Lies Beneath to that list.

Odd Thomas

Temple of Doom was my favorite, too. Mainstream audiences enjoy trashing people like Lucas and Coppola because they have made huge contributions to cinema. People who are insecure about their own accomplishments always look for the slightest detail to overreact and criticize the over achievers. That's why Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Godfather III get trashed under a microscope.

Erwin Quiachon

Thankfully, that’s in no way what the movie is about or how he is in it.

Jason Chirevas

The original Raiders is the best adventure movie in the series. This movie is the best action comedy in the series.

Mike LL

Yeah I liked 4. I think it boils down to the fact 1-3 were made in an analogue era and carry so much nostalgia while 4-5 are very much products of the digital era and just feel different. The stakes don't feel the same.

Odd Thomas

Definitely the best one imo. The script was so good and coupled with Spielberg it just works in every way, like you say: comedy, suspense, action, family drama. I enjoyed 4 but they were never going to top Last Crusade.

Odd Thomas

I love Temple of Doom. But I can understand their hatred of Willie Scott. To me she was hilarious, but these days it seems that no woman can ever be portrayed as needing help even if she's a comic relief character.. Outside of that it's similar to Jar Jar Binks in the prequels.. Everybody hated him because he was the way he was, but it's like.. dude. He's comic relief.. he's supposed to be a bumbling idiot. And it's the same with Willie Scott. Then there's the fact that probably 80% of the women who think women like that are terrible would be acting the exact same way if put in the same situations.

Alex

Daniel sounds like Bugsy Siegel in this reaction the way he wants Hitler dead. Which reminds me that you should watch "Bugsy" (1991). It's a classic gangster film that describes how the mafia started Las Vegas before the movie "Casino".

Erwin Quiachon

I told someone on Twitter that movie creators now need to take a look at what the Cobra Kai writers are doing and take notes. Coz almost everything made nowadays especially sequels to great movie franchises is just terrible.

Alex

Clear and Present Danger as well. They have already seen The Hunt For Red October on the channel so I'm assuming they plan on doing a run of the whole Jack Ryan series of films, as well as hopefully the Amazon series.

Alex

A lot of flicks that summer. BATMAN, LETHAL WEAPON 2, LAST CRUSADE, DO THE RIGHT THING, KARATE KID III, DEAD POET'S SOCIETY, ROAD HOUSE, MAJOR LEAGUE and on and on. But I know I'm in the minority, but TEMPLE OF DOOM is my favorite. I know you guys don't like all the screaming, but I love Willie Scott. She was a very protective mother figure to Shortround.

Philip Davetas

You should totally do a rewatch of the 4th one. That movie gets way too much hate. Is it as good as the original trilogy? No. But the first 2 acts are pretty solid. The 5th one was awful. It missed Steven Spielberg & George Lucas. And was far too long

Stan the Man

The place where they shot the last scenes of the movie (where the grail is) is Petra in the kingdom of Jordan

Ido Gordin

Great Reaction to the Last Indy Film ;) !!! Another Great Harrison Ford Films are "Working Girl" from 1988 with Sigourney Weaver and Mel Griffith and "Witness" from 1985 and of Course "Patriot Games" from 1992

Florian Meier

You guys should watch The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles on the channel.. I never have seen them. My mom said it really good though. It was produced by Lucasfilm. It's a show they ran for about a year, and then made several movies afterwards.

Alex

I have read two different spoiler reviews and watched a YouTube review. Based on how the characters are written and some plot points I disagree with, I will skip it.

Athos Count de la Fère

It just doesn't show what happened. How did he get there in the first place? I doubt he snuck aboard and waited until they were deep at sea.

Alex

I always thought it was just funny. But camels seem to have a lot more up and down motion than horses and their humps.

Alex

I always loved the prequels. I love Episode 1 and Episode 2 is great. I'm an anomaly of a man in that I like romance. So I love Episode 2. The "meme" scene before it became a meme :) I don't think I will ever grow to think that 7-9 are Star Wars. I kind of enjoyed them but it's some weird parallel universe thing it's not really Star Wars. Strangely enough though the "A Star Wars Story" films are both amazing.

Alex

They also have The Young Indiana Jones chronicles which was a TV show about Indiana Jones when he was around the age he was in the beginning of Last Crusade. The series actually comes before the movies. It went on for only one or two seasons due to not having the ratings necessary to justify the large budget. I think Indy 5 is bombing because of Kathleen Kennedy. People just don't want to see their favorite series ruined and even if doesn't happen to happen seems people aren't willing to risk it. There's this off-roading YouTuber I follow whose wife said that to me when I told her if she's a Karate Kid fan she would love Cobra Kai. She told me she'd rather her childhood memories not be ruined with cringe. I tried to convince her that it's really REALLY good and not at all what she's thinking it will be but she wouldn't budge on it. I thought it sounded really good but now I'm hearing the stuff about it. I think people might be over reacting but I dunno. There's a lot of movies these days ruined by certain themes that should not be in movies. I've been playing with the idea of seeing it in the theaters. Some people actually said it's a really good movie and people are worried about it for nothing. But I dunno I think maybe I'd want to watch it for the first time with you guys :)

Alex

Fantastic film!

Catherine LW

The prequels are a million times better than the awful Disney ones. Episode 3 is my second favorite of the original 6. When Disney killed Luke, I got up out of my seat in the theater and walked out. Didn't see the end and didn't care to.

Athos Count de la Fère

This one here ranks right up there with The Empire Strikes Back, The Godfather Part 2, and The Dark Knight as one of my favorite sequels. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery is one of my favorite duos ever.

Steve Mercier

As great as the chemistry was in this, the best Sean Connery buddy movie is still The Man Who Would be King, with Michael Caine. Highly recommend that movie

Smooticus

I love that we just accept Indy can survive a storm out at sea and live with only a life preserver.

Night King01

I always assumed that Indiana was opposed to camels because camels can be very stubborn.

Vwlss Nvwls

River Phoenix did such an amazing job as a young Indiana, and I love how you get to see the origin of all Indiana's iconic attributes, even Harrison Fords real life chin scar. River Phoenix was a great young actor lost far too soon. And Sean Connery was so great as Indiana's father. RIP River Phoenix & Sean Connery I would say that this one is the best of the three, but there are a couple scenes that always felt off to me. Those few moments is all that keeps it from being better than Raiders, and Raiders is perfect in my opinion.

Vwlss Nvwls

It's funny, but this may be the first time I've ever seen someone interpret the student's fervor as a factor of him being famous and not because he was good looking.

aarswft

George Lucas' dog at the time was named Indiana! The dog was a huge Alaskan Malamute who also inspired him creating Chewbacca. It's sad that George Lucas isn't honored and revered as he should be. The whole Star Wars universe came from his mind as well as Indiana Jones. Forgive him for the prequels already!

Ellie Miller

Been waiting all week for this

Smooticus

My favorite Indy movie. Especially the beginning part with young Indy, and of course Sean Connery. I heard that they made other Indy movies after this one, but I don't believe the rumors. This was a great way to end the franchise. 😉

Athos Count de la Fère

I was so hoping this would get posted today! I just know y’all are going to love this.

Aimee

Sweet. This is my favorite of the trilogy. The chemistry between Ford and Connery puts it just over the top for me.

Marcus Cato

YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
