Added 2023-06-29 18:29:33 +0000 UTCHelp pick the Disaster movie we will react to!
Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!
NOTE: Daniel has seen Armageddon, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction.
*We haven't seen these films unless noted above. If you disagree with the genre, you'll have to take it up with Google ;)

The Towering Inferno and Earthquake are the other two from the 70's (along with The Poseidon Adventure) that really started the genre. The Towering Inferno is my favorite - since it has every major star in the world in it. The Day After Tomorrow is a fun climate change movie - not at all scientifically accurate, but cool. And I take you guys have already seen Don't Look Up?

2023-07-26 18:50:03 +0000 UTCI Recommend "Twister" from 1996 with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton ... Great Hurricane Film
Florian Meier
2023-07-12 09:48:14 +0000 UTCMan of Steel. Destruction galore
Vlasios Vougiouklis
2023-07-11 12:39:36 +0000 UTCDeffo Armageddon. Such an Epic film.
Edward Reaney
2023-07-11 12:01:08 +0000 UTCThis is clearly going a certain way, so I propose a Deep Impact/Armageddon week when the poll concludes so you can feel what moviegoers felt like in the summer of 1998.

2023-07-06 18:11:36 +0000 UTCAfter that joke, Armageddon outta here!! jk Loved it!
Guston Zimasheen
2023-07-05 11:03:49 +0000 UTCNo Towering Inferno?
Darin Tomack
2023-07-04 20:27:02 +0000 UTCI prefer Deep Impact
christopher brown
2023-07-02 21:54:40 +0000 UTCI concur with Stan. Back in '98, Armageddon was the biggest film in the world (literally). I think it gets a bad rap.

2023-07-02 19:29:41 +0000 UTCHonestly…it’s just big dumb fun. I enjoy the hell out of it, probably mixed from a bit of nostalgia from seeing it in theatres as a kid. Plus it’s Michael Bay. Dude put Gatling guns on a friggn asteroid drilling vehicle. He’s a mad man. I mean everything is just dialed up to 11 and it knows it. The movie isn’t trying to be anything other than what it is. The science is bad, it’s completely unbelievable(the friggn MIR space station has gravity!?!) but it’s big budget 90s filmmaking at its biggest and cheesiest and I’m there for it.

2023-07-02 16:56:14 +0000 UTCShiny, loud things.
Paul Cox
2023-07-02 14:37:33 +0000 UTCWhat do people like about Armageddon ? The pure trashiness of all the characters? Their totally insane behavior ?
Matthias Goetzke
2023-07-02 08:09:30 +0000 UTCArmageddon, but Deep Impact, Volcano, The Poseidon Adventure and Dante's Peak are all great!
Mike the Ginger
2023-07-02 04:51:54 +0000 UTCI just watched it on another channel. Incredible.

2023-07-01 16:49:04 +0000 UTCSadly. I agree.

2023-07-01 05:11:14 +0000 UTCOnly the brave needs to be reacted to, it's an incredible movie about a real life tragedy.

2023-07-01 01:41:15 +0000 UTC... you get the idea
Paul Cox
2023-06-30 23:39:35 +0000 UTCArmageddon = Wrangler Deep Impact = Levi's
Paul Cox
2023-06-30 23:39:19 +0000 UTCArmageddon = Walmart Deep Impact = Target
Paul Cox
2023-06-30 23:37:29 +0000 UTCArmageddon = McDonald's Deep Impact = Shake Shack
Paul Cox
2023-06-30 23:36:34 +0000 UTCMuch like in the summer of 98, there's less love for Deep Impact.
Brandon
2023-06-30 21:14:22 +0000 UTCTangentially related, but I'd once again suggest for a future poll we tackle 1980s cult/b-movie classics like Repo Man, Night of the Comet, Flash Gordon, The Toxic Avenger, et al. Basically, if it was in regular rotation on USA UP ALL NIGHT, it's in consideration (though some are much better than others).
Paul Cox
2023-06-30 17:21:20 +0000 UTCDeep Impact is better than Armageddon just as Dante's Peak is better than Volcano.
Nick Parker
2023-06-30 16:05:03 +0000 UTCDeep Impact > Armageddon Dante's Peak > Volcano these are simply facts, irrefutable facts
Nick Parker
2023-06-30 16:00:54 +0000 UTCYes, I saw that one also. It was very good.
Mike LL
2023-06-30 13:56:11 +0000 UTCIf Armageddon wins out, I have to watch their full reaction, because I don't wanna miss a thing! 😆
David Crabtree
2023-06-30 10:42:48 +0000 UTCI'll second Knowing!
mikethemotormouth
2023-06-30 04:28:47 +0000 UTCI think they misunderstand. They didn't ask us to vote for the worst movie.
Lük
2023-06-30 03:05:44 +0000 UTCAnd Tom Holland as a little rising star. Such a good film!
Abby
2023-06-30 03:03:14 +0000 UTCSort of a disaster movie: _The 13th Warrior_(1999) starring Antonio Banderas.
Bill Woods
2023-06-30 01:13:33 +0000 UTCIt will also lose, the same as The Poseidon Adventure here. Needs to be a 1970's disaster movie poll.
Mike LL
2023-06-30 01:01:36 +0000 UTCI think the cycle started with Airport two years earlier in 1970. At least Poseidon followed the template that Airport laid down: Big budget, big stars, and one Golden Era star. The other disaster movies of the 1970's followed the same template.
Mike LL
2023-06-30 01:00:12 +0000 UTCThey did that here in the States also and billed the event as the movie being in "Sensurround"! Same thing for Rollercoaster, I saw that in "Sensurround" also.
Mike LL
2023-06-30 00:56:45 +0000 UTCFor the next disaster film poll, The Towering Inferno (1974)
christopher brown
2023-06-30 00:02:11 +0000 UTCHaven't even heard of it. I suppose I'll need to check it out.
DM DC
2023-06-29 23:57:10 +0000 UTCI love that movie! It's great!
DM DC
2023-06-29 23:56:18 +0000 UTCThe Impossible, no question. It's not only an incredibly well done yet underrated film, but it is also 100% a true story which makes it even more mind blowing.
Domino
2023-06-29 23:10:54 +0000 UTCArmageddon all the way 🤘
ShadowVessel π
2023-06-29 23:01:18 +0000 UTCFair enough: I shouldn't have lumped it in with the other two. I would say the only thing wrong with "The Poseidon Adventure" was the horrible remake in 2006. But I'm still not voting for it right now. There's plenty of time in future polls.
William 1611
2023-06-29 22:56:28 +0000 UTCYikes…
Jason Chirevas
2023-06-29 22:53:11 +0000 UTCI don’t know if we can mention other reactors here, but one I support just did THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE and it’s very good.
Jason Chirevas
2023-06-29 22:52:11 +0000 UTCThree of the four Airports are good reaction fodder. The terribly boring AIRPORT 1975 would be the outlier.
Jason Chirevas
2023-06-29 22:49:57 +0000 UTCThere is nothing whatsoever wrong with how THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE has aged.
Jason Chirevas
2023-06-29 22:48:26 +0000 UTCThe modern era of proper disaster movies starts with THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE. That’s my vote.
Jason Chirevas
2023-06-29 22:46:35 +0000 UTCThe two asteroid impact movies that came out in the same year are neck and neck, LOL!
Reed James
2023-06-29 22:41:28 +0000 UTCArmageddon will win I like perfect storm but that’s more of a fishing story
One Tusk
2023-06-29 22:17:41 +0000 UTCArmageddon would be a great pick. We're coming up on its 25th anniversary on July 1, and it was the number film at the worldwide box office for 1998. And it's a film I adore, easily in my top 10.
David Crabtree
2023-06-29 21:15:18 +0000 UTCAside from Deep Impact and The Impossible (for realism) I'd recommend Greenland.

2023-06-29 21:14:38 +0000 UTCThe beauty of movies is they're completely subjective. Different strokes for different folks
David Crabtree
2023-06-29 21:13:26 +0000 UTCArguably the original world ending disaster movie that more than stands up today When Worlds Collide 1958
John Frilando
2023-06-29 20:18:57 +0000 UTCI agree 100%
Casey Deane
2023-06-29 20:18:16 +0000 UTCThere's no way The Impossible is going to win, but it's by far the best movie on here...so, yay...
Steve Mercier
2023-06-29 20:11:44 +0000 UTCI recommend adding 'The Core' and '2012' to the list next time you run this poll.
Nicotti
2023-06-29 20:04:37 +0000 UTCBad Boys though...
mikethemotormouth
2023-06-29 19:55:20 +0000 UTCDeep Impact is a strange one to me. It has creepy underage Elijah Wood pressuring an equally underage girl he has a crush on into marrying him...telling her she'll die if she doesn't. I felt weird about that when I saw it.
Kurt Yost
2023-06-29 19:54:54 +0000 UTCI think Armageddon and Deep Impact have to be done close together (two movies in the same year about asteroid impacts), as with Volcano and Dante's Peak (two moved made in the same year about volcanic disasters in the U.S.).
Kurt Yost
2023-06-29 19:52:41 +0000 UTC60s had a couple of good movies. Day, the Earth caught fire. When worlds collide. And if you want computers going out of control… Colossus: The Forbin Project. Does anyone remember Damnation Alley?
Michael Seaney
2023-06-29 19:25:48 +0000 UTCDeep Impact, by far for me. Recommend, "Knowing" with Nicholas Cage
Jonathan Patrick
2023-06-29 19:24:12 +0000 UTCMy mum and dad did the premieres down in London of the 70s movies 🎥 Which included The Towering Inferno 🔥 The Poseidon Adventure 🏙️ and Earthquake. For Earthquake they fitted extra base speakers 🔊 to shake the auditorium. It was like being there. 😱 The later remakes aren’t that good!
Michael Seaney
2023-06-29 19:20:47 +0000 UTCYou are right there should be a poll for just 1970’s disaster movies and then another poll for the 1990’s for fairness. I’ve been waiting a long time for any reactor to do AIRPORT (1970).
Mike LL
2023-06-29 19:15:52 +0000 UTCDon't Look Up should be on this list, great film.
Scott Lindsey
2023-06-29 19:14:13 +0000 UTCI’d have to agree with you. The cast redeems The Rock. Great cast. No reason to see other Bay movies, they are just too Bay.
Mike LL
2023-06-29 19:08:59 +0000 UTCChallenging opinion: the only good Michael Bay movie is The Rock, and that one's already on the channel, so there's no need to watch any others.
Paul Cox
2023-06-29 19:05:17 +0000 UTCMichael Bay movies are bad for your mental health. They should be avoided. Especially Pearl Harbor. Armageddon is certainly better than Pearl Harbor, but there are still many better movies in this poll.
Mike LL
2023-06-29 19:02:54 +0000 UTCDeep Impact and Perfect Storm are the best but Only the Brave needs more love, it's not talked about enough
Odd Thomas
2023-06-29 19:02:03 +0000 UTCI voted in another Disaster poll on another Patreon recently, and Poseidon Adventure got my vote. People will call it the granddaddy of the Disaster Movies. It wasn't, but it should be watched. But it will lose this poll and break my heart again. Deep Impact will be a consolation if it wins.
Mike LL
2023-06-29 19:00:55 +0000 UTCIt would be great for Deep Impact and Armageddon to tie.
Joseph Tamburo
2023-06-29 18:59:19 +0000 UTCDeep Impact is probably my favorite from this list, but I sorta wish one of the ones based on a real story could win (The Impossible, Only The Brave, or The Perfect Storm). But I guess that brings up the question of what you want out of a disaster movie? A thrilling two hours, or having your heart stomped on with despair.
Paul Cox
2023-06-29 18:55:49 +0000 UTCArmageddon. Perfect popcorn movie for the summer.
Athos Count de la Fère
2023-06-29 18:52:52 +0000 UTCWould Outbreak(1995) qualify or does it have to be a natural disaster?
mikethemotormouth
2023-06-29 18:44:49 +0000 UTC4 Movies from the 90s and only 1 from the 70s? I always thought the 70s were the decade of disaster flicks ;) I wouldn't mind seeing Rollercoaster (1977) or The Hindenburg (1975) on this list one day, both underrated IMHO.
Marcus Laubner
2023-06-29 18:41:18 +0000 UTCI voted for "Deep Impact" and "Dante's Peak." I've only recently seen the former, but was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I love "Volcano," although it's kinda corny, but I think "Dante's Peak" was a better movie. "The Poiseidon Adventure" was a disaster classic, but like "The Towering Inferno" or "Earthquake," it hasn't aged well. But whatever you choose will be fun.
William 1611
2023-06-29 18:36:25 +0000 UTCIf Deep Impact and Armageddon are going to run away with this, at least I hope Deep Impact comes out on top.

2023-06-29 18:32:41 +0000 UTCALL OF THEM!!!!! <3
