another thing i noticed was the theme song to 'Terms of Endearment'. I think it was purposeful, but that movie mainly centers on a Mother/Daughter relationship instead of the Father/Son discussion Tony and Paulie have.

I think Tony’s justified in how annoyed he is with Paulie. It’s pretty dumb how he keeps running his mouth about “family business” in front of total strangers. Also I don’t think Tony at this point likes thinking about the past. I mean, most of the stories are about people that are not only dead, but most of which Tony killed himself. Pussy, Ralphie, Tony B, etc.

I was thinking, when we finish the end of the series, it would be lovely to watch together the "‘The Sopranos’ Cast Reunites For 20th Anniversary: Full Interview | TODAY" (46:05)
AND also "James Gandolfini Tribute to a Friend" (34:30) both of which are on YT. I purposefully haven't watched them just in case TBR & Sam agree :P

How can he be in Rush Hour 3 when he was killed in Rush Hour 1?

I think the "stand up guy" thing from Paulie's dream is a reference to that. Puss accepts his fate and asks to sit down right before he's killed while Paulie stays standing, ready to fight to stay alive.

Junior's decline is very poignant. He is so far removed from being the boss now. His shenanigans are comical but also sad. The disturbed young asian man is ready to turn on Junior, when he feels betrayed by Junior's seeming desire to live a somewhat normal life. I don't know what he got from Junior, but maybe some vicarious enjoyment of the violence and disregard for societal norms that the mafia represents.
His parents' strict demands on him for grades has made him resentful, and Junior was maybe something he desired to be. Seeing him weak, defeated, and turning away from that lifestyle makes him enraged and feeling used. Even in the retirement home, Junior gets "whacked" for trying to get out of the game. Both he and Paulie have no kids or family to speak of now, and their aging years are pathetic and tragic in their own ways.

Yeah, I think Paulie is getting up and getting ready. He is making sure he's standing when Tony gets up behind him and spits on his hands to make sure he has grip. He's not going to be slipping and sliding like Ralphie. This is the most intense scene for me in the whole series. Gets me uncomfortable every time

Guys. Remember the last episode. Phil going on about not taking any more shit at the end. “No more Butchie. No more of dissss”. Phil was basically saying fuck it, I’m not going to take any more shit. So now that the new guy in charge is costing everyone money, and literally taking food off of Phil’s plate(metaphor) Phil decides to act. And his #2, Butchie, the guy Tony had the run in with at the Hospital, is the guy you thought was the wheelchair guy.

One of the best quotes of the series “remember when is the lowest form of conversation”. Everytime I see friends doing it I think of that quote. And sometimes..it’s true.

It's good to see Beansie doing well in Miami.

Paulie definitely knew that Tony was considering killing him. Unlike Puss, he would have fought back.

It’s fascinating to see what references people get and don’t get. There’s so much humour that goes unnoticed because the reference are too deep a cut. So Barney Fife was a character on the Andy Griffith show. He was a really stupid hick cop. Played by Don Knotts. The show was about Andy, the sheriff of Mayberry and his partner Barney dealing with local buffoons and characters, it was a comedy. A young Ron Howard played Andy’s son, Opie.

The guy in the car after the hit was Butchie, Phil's right hand guy who was asking phil to take out Jersey. The wheelchair guy from florida was Beansie, the guy Richie Aprile ran over with his car.
