I'm just catching up to the Sopranos reaction and will start season 5 next. I don't know if there has been much discussions about series you want to do. If you are feeling the "Soprano void" after the show is over and crave another HBO engaging, enthralling series I can't recommend The Wire strongly enough. It will get you over that empty feeling you will have once The Sopranos are over.

As others have mentioned, the appearance of the great director Sidney Pollack as the oncologist orderly was a subtle but rich addition. It was obvious through the years that the series had such a great reputation in the industry, that people were happy to take small and fleeting roles just to be a part of it.
A couple of times you mentioned that cancer has appeared frequently. I would probably think it felt artificial if not for personal experience. Cancer swept through my work group of about two dozen people over the period of a few years. Three died at the ages of 36, 44, and 57, and the lengthiest duration was just three years. One was gone in less than a year. Another two were successfully treated, but one them, aged 31, had a long and horrible struggle; it was assumed he was near the end, but he bounced back and has been cancer free for 10 years. It was an office job, so there wasn’t a toxic environmental link. It’s just dreadfully common and vicious.

One of my favorite Sopranos one-episode characters.

Speaking of Sidney Pollack, I suggest you do a reaction to Tootsie.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I find that whole scene to be hilarious, something about how he just nonchalantly tells his story.

Sam and Daniel are too young to know, but when Paulie says Ride the painted pony, let the spinning wheel fly, he is quoting a Blood, Sweat and Tears song. In true Paulie fashion he slightly mixed up the words, but funny as hell that Paulie would quote song lyrics in a dead man's tribute and not get it right

RIP to the great Sidney Pollack! A fine feature director who was, for my money, an even better character actor.

The scene with Little Carmine is one of my all time favourites. It’s up there with the Carmela psychiatrist in S3. Here we have this idiot in little Carmine who uses malapropisms like no one in history (“the sacred and the propane”) but we learn he stepped out of the running to be Boss because of the love of his wife. You can see in that moment Tony has a little twinge of almost jealously that Little Carmines wife said that to him, knowing full well Carmela wouldn’t. But then there’s the dream. How many times has Tony had dream sequences that he couldn’t correctly interpret? Meanwhile Little Carmine is smart enough to correctly realize what his dream was all about

No one visited Johnny because he was in a federal prison hospital in Missouri. Phil and Tony were in local hospitals.

On an unrelated note the sound design is just immaculate by this point. The show sounds so good on even decent speakers. It bums me out that we only get 4 more weeks of Sopranos :( Ah well, what are ya gonna do? Remember the good times

Carmine Jr. saying "the sacred and the propane" killed me. I forgot about that one. 🤣Then he nearly makes me cry in that scene later with Tony. I also love how Melfi's shrink follows mob gossip like people follow football and that the so called experts on the news are incredibly innacurate. I never noticed until now that the "expert" was Matthew Weiner, a writer on the show who went on to create Mad Men right after this series ended.

They are the best even without including the outro discussions. The outro discussions push them even further over the top.

In case Daniel or Sam are reading this, your mind wasn't playing tricks on you: there was no mention of Johnny Sack having cancer before this episode.
Also, we are probably at the point you shouldn't read comments. Remember Junior spoiling Hugh's birthday surprise party? Somewhere out there is a Junior Soprano dying to spoil this show for you. 😂

I’ve watched one other reaction channel and they did a good job. Daniel and Sam are so much better.

I gotta say. Sam really gets this show. I’m always impressed by her ability to get what the show is going for and as someone who’s watched a few Sopranos reactions, lemme tell ya, that’s not always the case. Great reaction by you two.
