There's a tunnel called the Channel Tunnel (or Chunnel in slang), you can literally drive to France from England under the water. You see a crowd of infected going down into an underground area at one point, I think during all the chaos with the fire bombs. I didn't recognise it as the chunnel but brittish people probably would have. So the ending is just like "Hey remember the infected in the chunnel? They ran to Paris while all this shit was going on." So we don't know what happened with the boy and his sister, I don't think it implies he restarted everything later.
