Good to see Trainspotting break 100 votes even if it didn't with the poll

2023-06-27 14:36:14 +0000 UTCAnd another classic drama you'd love - On The Waterfront, featuring a young Marlon Brando.
Neal Romanek
2023-06-04 19:20:14 +0000 UTCI'm pulling for The Color Purple - because it's one of Spielberg's great ones but doesn't get enough reaction - and Blow Out, which was inspired by Blow Up (1966) and a lot of Hitchcock. Di Palma was a real student of Hitchcock. Drama is such an all-encompassing category, but I'd throw in the suggestion box: The Verdict, Citizen Kane, The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre and Do The Right Thing.
Neal Romanek
2023-06-02 12:26:37 +0000 UTCThe Death of Stalin (2018)
YoureMrLebowski
2023-05-31 04:16:19 +0000 UTCi'm not saying it's the best in this group, but i'm surprised The Last King of Scotland isn't getting more love.

2023-05-31 04:14:49 +0000 UTCBLOW OUT should really be on a thriller poll.
Jason Chirevas
2023-05-30 21:54:07 +0000 UTCI really hope they give this film a chance despite the polls
Ken Veader
2023-05-30 04:44:16 +0000 UTCI respectfully disagree with the "body" comment with the exception of 1 intimate scene. Alot of great performances of Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn, Julia Ormond as well.

2023-05-29 16:26:10 +0000 UTCBlow Out! In my opinion Brian De Palma's best film and John Travolta's best performance. One of my top 5 favorite films actually. More of a suspense thriller though. This was the era when De Palma was putting out his best thrillers.

2023-05-29 15:18:06 +0000 UTCI hated the sequel! I think I may have expected too much, maybe I should give it a rewind
Nick Sneddon
2023-05-29 07:45:02 +0000 UTCI believe I said when it was on a poll before and I will say again: I also hope they pair it with T2 Trainspotting, which in my opinion is one of the greatest long-gap sequels of all time, up there with Blade Runner 2049 and Creed.
Tyler Foster
2023-05-29 05:38:46 +0000 UTCIdk if you’ve seen Aerial America on the Smithsonian channel but that fine movie is like an episode covering Brad Pitts body. It’s a good movie but more in Sam’s wheelhouse I suspect.

2023-05-28 22:52:06 +0000 UTCThey gotta see it, best movie on the list
Ken Veader
2023-05-28 19:05:46 +0000 UTCBlow Out deserves a watch nut its never gonna win apoll cause Im sure half your Patreons never seen it, one of DePalma's best tho
Ken Veader
2023-05-28 19:05:02 +0000 UTCPlease Please "Legends of the Fall" One of Brad Pitt's first and best roles

2023-05-28 17:08:03 +0000 UTCI'm thrilled that the Coens are winning the director poll. I know it's only for one movie, but I'm hoping this will be the thing that clinches them doing the whole filmography ala Tarantino, because there are so many comparatively underrated Coen masterpieces.
Tyler Foster
2023-05-28 15:19:16 +0000 UTCI’m still holding out for the Coen brothers’ crime drama Blood Simple. Hoping, waiting, and hoping again. Another great yet underrated crime drama is One False Move, written by and starring Billy Bob Thornton.
David Wilkins
2023-05-28 14:12:05 +0000 UTCYeah, it's "1989 good" rather than "all-time good," but it's worth seeing if you've never seen it, which the Schmitts haven't.
Paul Cox
2023-05-28 13:52:03 +0000 UTCThe Wrong Man (1956)
christopher brown
2023-05-28 12:13:11 +0000 UTCI know they’re not dominating this poll, but I really hope you all eventually get to see JFK, NBK, and Trainspotting
Nick of Time
2023-05-28 11:00:44 +0000 UTCI'll put another suggestion for "Blood in Blood out" (crime drama) (1993) it stars Benjamin Bratt you've seen him before in Demolition Man and the love interest in Mrs Congeniality with Sandra Bullock
dieselbeast
2023-05-28 07:33:23 +0000 UTCright? and can you believe when it was released a lot of right wingers slammed it for GLAMOURISING drugs? absolutely ludicrous
Nick Sneddon
2023-05-28 07:31:39 +0000 UTCHonestly the best “Don’t do Drugs” campaign in the world would be to just show this with “Requiem for a dream”
Stan the Man
2023-05-28 06:39:23 +0000 UTCIt’s so bad lol. I get why people like it but it’s trying to manually squeeze every last emotion out of you
Stan the Man
2023-05-28 06:38:16 +0000 UTCplease just watch Trainspotting and get it over with haha! one of the greatest ever and arguably the best british film of the 90s
Nick Sneddon
2023-05-28 06:13:17 +0000 UTCyeah mine too, frustrating. All good things I guess.
Daniel Gurney
2023-05-28 05:04:37 +0000 UTCDead Poets Society is so cheesy and cringe that it shouldn't be on any list of good films. John Keating? OMG!
Bennett Holleman
2023-05-28 05:02:02 +0000 UTCIm also for Blood In, Blood Out
Jonathan Patrick
2023-05-28 04:49:24 +0000 UTCI really hope Blow Out wins. Technically it would probably be classified as a thriller, but it also works as a drama too IMHO. It really is the perfect movie as it uses all of the elements of cinema to tell its story. And the Ending is just…well, I guess you’ll have to watch it to find out.
Robert Boyd
2023-05-28 04:32:00 +0000 UTCRegarding NBK, James vs Cinema beat em to the punch two years ago then You Me and the Movies put up their reaction last year. Anyway, it's my favorite on this list so of course it's not doin great 🫤

2023-05-28 04:08:29 +0000 UTCI would love to see some bound by honor though too, good call Mike

2023-05-28 03:55:05 +0000 UTCGran Torino won the Last Drama Poll ;) Great List
Florian Meier
2023-05-28 03:54:37 +0000 UTCLegends of the fall was epic but already done a couple times, ford v ferrari was great and done as well. " Natural Born Killers" is epic and great and I believe you guys may have the opportunity to be the first reactors to this. I know my NBK fans are here. lets rock the vote!
Daniel Gurney
2023-05-28 03:54:14 +0000 UTCHow about some crime dramas? Blood In, Blood Out(1993), Dead Presidents(1995), Once Were Warriors(1994)
mikethemotormouth
2023-05-28 03:30:27 +0000 UTCSam, as others have mentioned, really should put Blow Out on a "thriller" poll in the future (great movie btw). And Natural Born Killers definitely needs to get put in something else, thriller maybe. If there was a "psychotic" poll it would definitely fit in that 😂. Also a great movie.
Eric Denney
2023-05-28 03:29:41 +0000 UTCMy favorite courtroom drama!

2023-05-28 03:25:21 +0000 UTC"From where you're standing, you're a man. From where I'm standing, you're an ape."
mikethemotormouth
2023-05-28 03:20:52 +0000 UTCGotta do Blow Out. It clearly won’t win, but it also shouldn’t be in the same poll with some of these other movies. Do another thriller poll and put it in, and hopefully it will win. What a film.
Jarrod Hornbeck
2023-05-28 03:05:15 +0000 UTCHave you guys seen All The President's Men?
f hf
2023-05-28 02:55:14 +0000 UTC"Blow Out" might be considered more of a thriller. Anyway, have you seen "Blow-Up" (1966), the movie that inspired it?

2023-05-28 02:30:24 +0000 UTCVoted for Ford vs Ferrari. My future poll suggestion is "Philadelphia" with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.
Athos Count de la Fère
2023-05-28 02:25:35 +0000 UTCIt's so difficult to rate these particular films against each other, partly because they fall into separate sub-categories, but I guess "Drama" does cover them all. Three of them are based on real events: "The Last King of Scotland," "Ford v Ferrari," and of course "JFK." All three are excellent, but from purely a dramatic standpoint, I'd have to vote for Forest Whitaker and "The Last King of Scotland." But please, oh please, skip the historical stuff and go with the very best film on the list: Brian De Palma's "Blow-Out." It's a magnificent film, based on another magnificent film by a European director years ago.
William 1611
2023-05-28 02:25:22 +0000 UTCI saw Trainspotting two times in the 1990s (in the theater, and then as a rental), so I'd forgotten a lot of the details until I revisited it during the pandemic as an adult with some lived experiences. YO THAT SHIT IS BLEAK. If it wins, you need to psych yourself up for it.
Paul Cox
2023-05-28 02:08:48 +0000 UTCFuture recommendations: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), Warrior (from 2011, if you liked Rocky), The Patriot (2000), Dazed & Confused (from 1993, many list it as a comedy, but it's more of a coming of age drama with natural comedic moments and levity throughout), Gran Torino(2008), Air Force One (1997), Rudy (1993), Rules of Engagement (2000), Diggstown (1992), For Love of the Game (1999), Remember the Titans (2000)

2023-05-28 01:56:18 +0000 UTC100% One of the greatest in my life. Deserves to win, but won't. Popcorn in Bed actually did it, and Meet Joe Black. Hoping they will on this channel some day

2023-05-28 01:46:48 +0000 UTCLegends of the Fall ever winning one of these would be a surprise, but it's the film in this group that's haunted me the most over time. Epic is an understatement.

2023-05-28 01:44:29 +0000 UTC"Law Abiding Citizen (2009)" Gerard Butler,Jamie Foxx

2023-05-28 01:42:50 +0000 UTC*As a reminder, as we get these comments on every single poll, we have not seen these films. If you disagree with the genre pairing of a film, you'll have to take it up with the folks at Google ;) -Sam

Jonathon Jankoski
2023-05-28 01:32:27 +0000 UTCI'd vote for BLOW OUT, but that's more of a thriller. So, I'll have to hit up TRAINSPOTTING. Probably the best film of the lot.
