Rush Hour (1998) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Rush Hour (1998) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Also the two Project A films. They are similar to the first two Police Story’s where Jackie Chan is also director and he had oodles of creative freedom.

Dragons Forever also features a familiar face from Kung Fu Hustle!

The Myth is excellent. I don't think that's Hollywood considering that half the movie is in Chinese. It is absolutely a must watch.. I recommend watching it with subtitles, meaning that the part that's in Chinese will be in Chinese with subtitles and the rest of it will be in English. But I won't begrudge it if they watch it dubbed English (if there is such a thing).

You should just stick to Rush Hour 1 & 2 and Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights for Jackie's Hollywood movies, the rest are pretty bad. I think Shanghai Knights is the only Hollywood Jackie movie that gave him enough time to prepare for the fight scenes, usually in the States the fighting is really short. I think Police Story 1 & 2, Wheels on Meals, The Legend of Drunken Master, Who Am I?. Rumble in the Bronx, Mr. Nice Guy and Dragons Forever are a must watch Jackie movies. Miracles, Gorgeous, The Foreigner and New Police Story are pretty good too. We need more quality reactors to watch Jackie's Hong Kong stuff rather than just the American stuff, or watch more foreign movies in general. Thailand has some kickass action movies too.

Lots of people are mentioning Jackie Chan's First Strike and Rumble in the Bronx. I struggle with these two in particular as they are two of the only major Jackie Chan movies left that are essentially unavailable in high quality uncut original format with the Cantonese language. First Strike -- which, by the way, is actually the fourth Police Story movie (Police Story and Police Story 2 kept their names, but Police Story 3: Supercop was shortened to just Supercop in America and Police Story 4 was retitled First Strike) -- is pretty watchable in edited/dubbed form, but I feel the cuts and American dialogue are pretty hard to ignore when watching Rumble in the Bronx (don't forget, dubbing in the '90s is frequently *completely* unfaithful to whatever was being said in the original version; they just write and record whatever works with the new edit and fits the length of their mouths moving), and I would love to see it in its original form. A couple of years ago, Warner Archive released a great Blu-ray of the film Mr. Nice Guy, remastering both its drastically-shortened American edit and the original Hong Kong version, and I have been hoping they're working on First Strike and Rumble in the Bronx as well. One that has recently become available in America and is AWESOME and a little unheard of is called Dragons Forever, featuring Jackie Chan and fellow martial artist Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung. Lots of great sequences in that, including a massive sequence at the end in a warehouse featuring Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, who most people will probably recognize from Grosse Pointe Blank. I also second any support for the original Police Story trilogy and Drunken Master and Drunken Master II. I also think you two should check out both Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights. The first movie is fine, and the jokes in the second one are a mixed bag, but that second one also easily features the best action choreography Jackie ever did in the United States, including a great fight with Donnie Yen.

Guys gotta do Police Story (1985) thats peak Jackie Chan and the sequel Supercop w/ Michelle Yeoh

Jackie CHan's "who am I", "Supercop" and "Drunken Master" are some of his best work. Anything from his old chinese days. Not the American films. Though those are often also good. His BEST films are the older chinese ones though.

Armchair Wizard

I'm probably in the minority but I liked JC in Around the World in 80 Days. It was just one of those movies the critics decided to bomb before it was even released. I think it's great fun.

Since you're getting a lot of recommendations for more Jackie, I'd like to recommend The Medallion. It's cheesy and silly in places, but he's fantastic in it, and the comedy in it is pure gold.

LOL Well, The Fifth Element is one of those movies where I love everything else so much that I deal with him, but I really have to force it, and it does bring the movie down for me. I just got through the reaction, and I loved it. Jackie Chan is so good that he makes up for anything else. LOL But I get it if even he isn't enough for people. Funny enough, I forgot how sexist Carter (Tucker) is in this film. I can't believe I didn't notice it before. Yikes.

Raven Dark

Love Rush Hour !!! Please dive into Eddie Murphy Films and watch "Beverly Hills Cop " and "Coming to America"

Florian Meier

I highly recommend "Who am I", the best Jackie Chan movie in my opinion.

Patrik Kristersson

Great Reaction! Would love to see Rush Hour two soon!

Rumble in the Bronx was my first time seeing a Jackie Chan style of movie. I had seen at least one or more that were more serious, when I think they were trying to make him the next Bruce Lee, and they were okay, but Jackie Chan's style is so much more fun. This is a good first entry for anyone who has not seen Jackie Chan, and Chris Tucker was a great partner for him in this. My favorite Jackie Chan movie is "The Legend of the Drunken Master". There is also a "Drunken Master" movie which is good, but Legend is some of his top notch action film making imho.

I find him unbearable in the Fifth Element!

David Crabtree

Rumble in the Bronx (1995) and Jackie Chan's First Strike (1996), and Forbidden Kingdom (2008) are some other Jackie Chan films I like.

Scott Kerr

Fun movie and great reaction! If you thought Jackie's stunts were good in this movie, you should see his earlier stuff! Really crazy and he got hurt in some of them. I think Brett Ratner took some inspiration from Enter the Dragon for the opening shot of the movie. Also, the composer of this movie, Lalo Schifrin, also scored Enter the Dragon. Can hear some similar beats. Some other good "buddy movies" are Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys.

Nismo

My first time seeing. This was great. I recommend watching The Myth with Jackie Chan. Really great movie very epic.

Alex

Chris Tucker has the same effect on me. He didn't bother me much in this film, but he really grated in Fifth Element. Still love the movie, though.

Raven Dark

One of the few times I'll have to pass on the full length version, I can only take Chris Turcker and his voice in small doses. Jackie Chan is great in this though.

David Crabtree

We will in a few weeks!

Flyin Hawaiian

Finally, some Jackie Chan! I highly recommend the movie "Rumble In the Bronx". It was the first Chan movie I ever saw and it made me a lifelong fan. I think that would be a good start to watching his films, as it was the film that finally brought him to the North American mainstream. Thank you guys for reacting! I can't wait for more of this legend.

EdmanXERO

Highly recommend Rush Hour 2.

James Miley
