These episodes were crazy good. Edie Falco knocked it out of the park in ep. 2. She is a great actor. The Sopranos is literally one of the best TV shows ever made, and you definitely see its influence in today’s shows.

They nominate anyone & everybody over there. And the way they do it? It all fucked up. Actors don’t get to submit their own episodes & there’s a limit to how many episodes can be considered.

Not really though.
Why does Tony look at it at the very beginning and the very end of the episode? What is the significance of this?...Why is it noticeably in the background at the bar distracting the viewer? The bar (purgatory) is the middle location between the two points.
I go into episodes with the idea that every shot, every scene has a deeper meaning attached to it....this especially rings true with the dream and coma sequences.

i agree with the infinity and the costa mesa references but the meaning of the beacon, for example, definitely comes from mostly the next episode, particularly in one specific scene. that's what i was mainly referring to.

One of the top 5 best endings and songs also in the entire series as well. Just a damn near perfect episode.

Edie Falco didn’t even get NOMINATED for her performance in 6A. What a travesty. Carmine always said that the Emmy awards were a glorified crew.

How do you know if they did or not? Also, just because you didn’t make conclusions from this episode, doesn’t mean that others didn’t. There are clues and symbolisms throughout this entire episode.
For example, where Tony asks the bartender if he knows Kevin Finnerty, a patron makes a joke about driving a Lexus, then says Infiniti Lexus. Do you think this was just a throwaway line, or was there some deeper meaning behind it?…
Or when Tony asks the same bartender about Costa Mesa, and he replies “Around here, it’s dead.” I can go on and on about the other clues and symbols, but you get the gist.
I picked all of this up on the first watch and I’m sharing my viewpoints on what I think the episode is about. Just because you put the pieces together later on, doesn’t mean that you’re right about what it all means.
David Chase made it ambiguous for a reason.

Nobody said the word spoiler. you're just providing your interpretation on something before the reactors have even got all the pieces to the puzzle yet. a lot of the conclusions you mentioned are informed by knowledge of the next episode

Edie Falco is the greatest living female actor.

I mean, it's not like you had to memorize Dante to make those interpretations. I don't see how anything you said could be considered spoilers.

That wound was crazy infected. It's crazy how big open wounds can get with a person still living. I had a friend who worked at a nursing home/hospice and she said she's seen some you could almost put your fist in.

1.) Who is “Master of Sopranos”?…
2.) Everything that I said was MY interpretation of the episode…as in not factual. It could mean something completely different for all I know.
Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit, it is?…

Huh?… Everything that I mentioned, including the dialogue quotes, happened in this episode. I haven’t spoiled anything, dude.

not only that but most of these conclusions come from finishing the next episode

Someone’s read Master of Sopranos. And you might wanna let them figure some of this out of their own.

The song is Moby "When It's Cold I'd Like to Die". It was used in the last episode of the Stranger Things Season 4 when Lucas is holding Max.

I know it can be confusing but Tony's "experience" in his coma is
definitely more than a dream and is SUPER important for this season.
You were definitely right that Tony doesn't want to go "into the light".
Don't forget about the "members only" jacket!

Here's my interpretation of this episode:
- Tony is currently in purgatory.
- His briefcase represents his soul, which is lost in transition. "My whole life's in that briefcase."
- The wildfires in Costa Mesa is suppose to be Hell.
- The beacon he keeps looking at from his hotel room is suppose to be the pearly gates of Heaven.
- The monks represents his morality in their effort to guide him down the righteous path before crossing over "Lose your arrogance!"
- Kevin Finnerty = Infinity (purgatory)

Someone suggested that Daniel and Sam do a recap discussion when it's all over. That would be nice because it's hard to discuss all this without spoilers!
To put one thing out there as vaguely as possible. One of the films Tony watches back in the Test Dream is Dickens A Christmas Carol. I think that turns out to be a really significant detail.

Same here. I remember when the episode first aired I was like “damn not another dream episode”. Especially after having 2 years off between seasons & the way the first episode ended on such a cliff hanger.

What a way to begin Season 6, eh? Eugene’s suicide in Members Only has to be one of the most realistic dark scenes ever filmed, whoa. That and Melfi’s rape scene seemed so realistic, which is why they were so fucking disturbing to watch. Not that I’m watching a lot of them but the total isn’t zero and I’ve always heard people shit and or piss themselves when they die but holy crap.
But I think it gets forgotten due to Tony being shot in the next scene and so much else going on.
Eugene had no other way out. His sacrifice was the only way for his family to leave the mob life, collect his inheritance and leave for Florida without there being any consequences from the Mob or FBI.
As for Tony's coma in "Join the Club", it's meant to be more than just a coma dream.

So that song at the end is called “When it’s Cold I’d Like to Die” by Moby and Stranger Things used it at the end of the first season. Its use here is so poignant. Edie Falco just delivers a masterclass in this episode. She’s so good in that sequence where she’s reminiscing about old times(Dan’s face when she starts talking about “getting hot down there” was priceless). What’s crazy is that Edie Falco and James Gandolfini were nominated for Emmy’s every season of this show…except for season 6A. It’s insane that she wasn’t even nominated. It would’ve been insane if she lost but not to win? That was a Emmy year where they changed some rules around and the rules only lasted a single Emmy year so they were nominated for the next and final season.

I agree. When I realized that it's something far deeper, these sequences became far more interesting and integral to understanding the show.

So it’s important to keep in mind, what Tony is going thru? It’s not a dream. I won’t say anymore than that. But it’s not a dream.
