Completely agree. It's the only one that doesn't adhere to the "Dirty Harry formula", and it suffers from it. I've always said this movie is a project specifically created for Sondra Locke. The next one, "The Dead Pool" (1988) is a return to form for the franchise. But it does still have cringe moments.

Of all the Dirty Harry films this one ranks at the bottom for me. Yeah it's got classic one-liners and good action scenes but honestly it seems like Harry is more of a tag-a-long in this film. He was dating Sondra Locke at the time so you see her in a few of his films and Sudden Impact feels more like her movie than Clint's. The next film "The Dead Pool" feels more like a return to the earlier films.

Surprisingly this is the first time I’ve seen this all the way through. Of course I remember “Make my day” from back in the day, the coffee shop scene, and “Nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog” (which , as a native Chicagoan, I agree..). I still think the first Dirty Harry is the best, the creepiest villain, the grittiest film wise, with that nihilistic 70s vibe. I don’t know if you noticed, but “Dog Shit” was played by Kevyn Major Howard, who played Rafterman in Full Metal Jacket (He was Pvt. Joker’s photographer ). For other Clint Eastwood outside of Dirty Harry, I recommend In the Line of Fire (kind of a similar character, but not that much), High Plains Drifter and The Mule (One of his more recent films).

Great reaction guys! Always up for a Dirty Harry reaction! If you're interested in more Clint Eastwood fisticuffs, I'd like to recommend a rather off-the-beaten trail movie from his canon: Every Which Way But Loose. It's an action comedy that Clint made between The Enforcer and this movie. I would guess most won't be into it, but I definitely enjoyed it back in the day. Having said that, I haven't seen it in ages. So, I might be looking through rose colored glasses here.

Yes !!! Love Sudden Impact !!! Wait so long :) Love the Coffee Shop Scene, Bar Scene and the Showdown At the End !!! Every Dirty Harry Movie is Great, but this is my personal Favorite !!! Can't Wait for "The Dead Pool"
