The Sopranos Season 5 Episode 12 'Long Term Parking' Full TV Reaction!!

The Sopranos Season 5 Episode 12 'Long Term Parking' Full TV Reaction!!

Comments

Oh yeah. The Ride is just…to me it’s this show in a nutshell. It hits everyone of the notes that makes this show great. Great Comedy, a little action, something to say about the world around us, and some mystery. I could write a thesis on it. And I agree. It’s so underrated. When I watched the “Talking Sopranos” podcast with Imperioli and Shrippa(ugh…) it did my heart good to find out that “The Ride” is one of David Chase’s favourite episodes. Plus it has one of the great “WTF” scares of any TV show/movie anywhere. One thing that makes this show so special, something that rarely gets talked about, are the supernatural elements of the show. Ghosts exists within this show. How weird is that? It’s a detail that I just love. I LOVE that when Paulie sees a psychic that they don’t explain away how the psychic could’ve known those things. Most shows would’ve had some thing where we find out the girlfriend gave the psychic info about Paulie. Something to undercut it. Nope. He’s a legit psychic. Or when Pussy shows up in a mirror during Livia’s funeral. It’s a blink & you’ll miss it moment. And then of course the stuff that’s yet to happen…it’s just an extra added detail and makes The Sopranos the greatest ever. Sometimes I feel as if the secret to the universe could exist somewhere within the frames of this show lol

Also Adriana being killed was a HUGE deal back then. It was just very out of the ordinary to have a key character who has been on a series that long be killed like that. Especially a character like hers. I mean she was a gangster's girlfriend, but not a gangster herself. Somewhat more innocent. Nobody really thought even a series like the Sopranos would go as far as having her character wacked. A lot of awards were won for this episode. Actors and the writer.

daron85

Wow that's very similar to mine. Literally everything on your list are my top favorites except Stage 5 and Remember When which are still amazing episodes. From your HM my favorites are literally all of them. I also love Whitecaps and Whoever Did This. That's still an amazing list. I'm not sure of the order of them all and which ones would be honorable mention yet though.

daron85

When Johnny threatened to 'rain down a shit-storm' on Tony's family he was referring to the Soprano crime family. When he said, 'maybe one of your other relatives then' Christopher complained because he knew they were referring to him.

James Boyd

Yeah, The Second Coming is probably my favourite episode of the series. The Sopranos is probably the only show where people have differing opinions of what their favourites are. Great list, but I think Pine Barrens is a tad overrated due to the hilarity factor. Remember When is chalk full of humour and substance, and belongs solidly in my top 10…with All Due Respect as well.

JG

Great list! The Ride is sooooooo underrated. I can't believe it only has an 8.3 on IMDB (LTP has 9.6, which is deserved). It clearly ain't that popular, relatively speaking, yet I've always saw it as one of the finest episodes. One of the greatest scripts you could imagine for a single episode of TV, and beautifully shot too.

A lot of my friends that have seen this episode say they felt bad for Adriana and that she was the only innocent character on the show. I agree to an extent...I felt bad for Adriana, yes but not because she was "innocent". She wasn't! She was naive, a victim of Chris' abuse and an accessory...She may not have known everything in the mob but she knew enough about the criminal life. She knew about mob meetings in her club and the drugs that were there. She also knew about the racketeering schemes of Christopher. Most important she helped cover up a murder. That murder she helped cover up is what gives the FBI the leverage to make her try and flip Chris. Adriana wasn’t innocent, she lived her life on the edge of crime and if your living on the edge then don’t be surprised if you fall.

Joe Lazarus

And I think Christopher is also to blame for what happened. He knew Adriana was a naive person, he should've prepared her by giving her a protocol in the beginning of what to do or say in case law enforcement ever had her pinched.

Joe Lazarus

LTP is a great episode…but I don’t think it’s even in my Top 10 of best episodes. My top 10 I think would be(in no particular order) Armour Fou-Season 3 From Where to Eternity-Season 2 Pine Barrens-S3 The Ride-S6 The Second Coming-S6.5 Stage 5-S6.5 Remember When-S6.5 Blue Comet-S6.5 Members Only/Join The Club/Mayham(3 Way Tie for obvious reasons)-S6 Made In America-Series Finale Honourable Mentions: College, Knight in White Satin Armour, Funhouse,Bust Out, All Due Respect, Long Term Parking, & Kennedy & Heidi

Stan the Man

Here’s a little bit of trivia for you. So as originally scripted and shot the audience would know that Chris had given up Adriana before Tony calls to lie about Chris O.Ding . There was a deleted scene, a deleted scene which you WILL see in a later season 6 episode, where we see Christopher goes to Tony’s place & tells him Ade is a rat. Cutting the scene was 100% the right call because it preserves the suspense & tension BUT it is probably some of the finest acting Michael Imperioli has ever given(which is saying something).

Stan the Man

I mentioned this in a previous video, but don't know if you read it. It's regarding a fun little fact about James Gandolfini... In 2011, he was set to become Steve Carell's replacement in The Office. NBC offered him up to $4 million to star in 1 season, but HBO was afraid the legacy of The Sopranos would be tarnished if Tony Soprano was a lead actor in a popular comedy series. So HBO quickly stepped in and gave him a counter offer of $3 million NOT to star in The Office. He accepted the deal! Easy money!...😂

JG

Long Term Parking is regarded as one of the best episodes of The Sopranos, but I think the season finale of All Due Respect is even better. Can’t wait to watch your reaction!

JG

Matush was the guy who worked with Jackie Jr. and got beat up by Furio back in season 3. It figures that his stupidity would be Adriana's undoing. The fact that Adriana only saw him as this "nice guy" reflects her naivete. Even though there's still the season finale, we've reached the end game with Ade's death. As the show kept getting darker, Adriana was one of the few innocents (by mob standards) remaining. Sure she was complicit but she honestly wasn't the brightest and genuinely believed that she and Chris would leave the life and have a normal family. Unfortunately, Chris sees that family at the gas station and knows how much he'd amount to without the mob. Like others have said Johnny Sack was referring to Tony's "mob family, but his actual family has reunited after being broken apart all season. The dinner scene is genius because the reconciliation is a foregone conclusion but the details are being worked out. It's almost like a sit-down between Tony and Carmela, negotiating the terms of their new relationship as if it were the crime families doing negotiations for HUD or whatever. Tony's crime family and actual family operate under very similar rules. Their awkward kiss at the end is only for appearances. Neither of them wanted the single life and no one else would accept them as they are. Terry Winters, the writer for this episode, has said that he procrastinated in writing this one. Procrastinating leads to greatness, see? Silvio's actor was crushed that he had to film Ade's death scene, but Drea De Matteo convinced him to go through with it. They had a really tight bond IRL so that scene hurts especially. Even though Chris is a POS I still felt bad for him when he snorted H again and then got beat up by Tony. It's disturbing how Tony had so much empathy for Adriana and had so much rapport with her, even wanting to hook up with her, and he can so easily sanction her murder. But them's the rules, you snitch you get whacked. "You think you're alone in this?!", I think so. "It's the last time we meet like this, it's undignified", says the dude who has meetings when he takes a dump at the Bing. As usual, excellent reactions, the finale is strong and just as hard hitting as this episode and Season 6 is just around the corner, which has the best opening in the series imo. Only 22 episodes left :(

Sol95

Fantastic reactions, but I watched them with a knot in my stomach knowing what you were about to see at the end with Adriana. It was a little like watching your Seven reaction, and the dread of knowing what you were heading towards. Onto the season finale, which I love. I can't wait to see what you think!

Future Boy

The Goonies!

Future Boy

Adriana is with Cosette now. RIP.

Future Boy

The actor who played Finn's dad in Tony's dream played a different character in Season 1. He was the dirty cop that would leak info to Tony, and then jumped off the bridge after he got busted with prostitutes.

Wayne Delaune (cardaderdention)

I don't blame them for assuming that. There's no reason to believe these mafia guys wouldn't stoop that low, rules or no rules. They've certainly done it in real life.

Laura Palmer

Haha You me and the movies?

Stan the Man

Thanks for pointing that out. Hilarious reference to Steven Van Zandt's music career.

Marcus Cato

Johnny wasn't threatening his personal family, he meant the Soprano crime family.

espo13

Oh no I don’t think that. You can tell they are digging it. Honestly? Sam seems really in tune with the show. I’ve seen other peoples reactions and I think it’s important to remember…none of us had a camera on them when watching the show for the first time. We’ve had years and years and rewatch upon rewatch to know the show inside and out. It’s also interesting that when this show aired, they always had a “Last time on the sopranos” recap that did a lot to remind viewers of previous seasons and episodes. They don’t have that on streaming. And so they maybe aren’t primed the same way we were back in the day. But no I think they are digging the show. 100%.

Stan the Man

She was very impressed with that lol

Stan the Man

It always bums me out that in these reactions very few people get the “The highway was jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive” reference. So many references go unnoticed lol.

Stan the Man

You have to grade on a curve with this show, certainly, but without writing a whole term paper on it, I think Ade was WAY more of an innocent than Carm, if only because she's so much less intelligent and lacking in so much less guile. Also, Ade was born directly into the life with her mother being Richie and Jackie Aprile's sister, whereas Carm was removed enough at birth that she could more easily have chosen to go another way, but didn't.

VivendoBem

Another great couple reactions. It was worth the wait. You will need some lighter entertainment after this and Seven Samurai. 😂

Marcus Cato

Funny how Daniel even referred to her as an innocent deer in the outro discussion. RIP Adriana.

Marcus Cato

The FBI certainly wasn't buying it. I don't think Adriana put anything together that there might be something off about sending all the money back home to Pakistan.

Marcus Cato

I wouldn't say she was truly innocent, in the same way Carmella isn't.

Andrew

RIP Adrianna La Cerva, one of the only true innocents on the show. I can’t believe it’s a coincidence that in Italian La Cerva means doe. Just like a deer, Ade was a beautiful, innocent kinda dumb creature who ends up shot in the woods. Heartbreaking.

VivendoBem

Also…while the guy did want to use the fax machine. I think it’s important to remember what era this was. 2004. He’s a drug dealer, sending money to Pakistan…for a “boys school”. And he has to use a random places fax machine? I think it’s clear something was off about that. She said he no longer does drugs, got super religious. He prays all the time. I think the show is trying to tell you something. Or wants you to think a certain way.

Stan the Man

The FBI is 95% responsible for Adrianna. To leverage one case against another - one where they know Christopher is violent, that he is a made man (who took an oath to put "the family" over family)... just no regard for her safety.

Michael Kang-Beats

“Family” does not mean his literal family. It’s his mob family. Wives and kids don’t get touched.

Stan the Man

Johnny Sack was talking about the Soprano crime family, not Tony's actual family 😂

David Murray

The most anticipated episode of the season. Can’t wait to watch this reaction later.

Tim Raths

I cannot wait to see your reaction to this one!!!
