Catch Me If You Can (2002) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Catch Me If You Can (2002) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

As noted by others in the comments, the movie was loosely adapted from a book by Abagnale that was later exposed as a complete fabrication. So really, all of it is pretty much fiction. About the name of the French town, Montrichard, Frank's mom said it in the correct french manner but Agent Fox simply said it in a english way. Frank John Hughes who plays Fox was Guarnere in Band of Brothers. When I watched the show I recognized him from this film. Both were Spielberg/Hanks projects. The French scenes in Montrichard and the French prison were film in Quebec City and Montreal respectively. As such, all the cops and guards are played by French canadian actors putting a French accent and to my hears, let's say some were better than others.

TBR Schmitt

Oh I love that he had a cameo! Wow, that's insane, I would definitely be interested in checking that out. -Sam

Titanic but that's a given, some of that is because of Kate Winslet and James Cameron masterpiece, but if that didn't exist it would be The Wolf of Wall Street, The Great Gatsby comes in third 😁

Leo is fantastic! Which is your favorite Leo film? -Sam

TBR Schmitt

It'd be cool to see you check out some Terrence Malick films: The Thin Red Line (overshadowed by Saving Private Ryan in '98 but just as good) The Tree of Life (Jessica Chastain/Brad Pitt) Badlands (Martin Sheen)

Can't say I even liked Lincoln that much, Spielberg made a handful of great films and rode their wave his whole career

Ken Veader

Apparently Frank Abagnale Jr made up most of his exploits, so most of what happens in this movie isnt true unfortunately. But there's something so funny about a guy pretending to be a huge conman and fooling millions into believing the crazy things he claimed to have done, therefore actually becoming a huge conman. Still a great movie though

War of the Worlds is so close to greatness. But the ending with the son…I’ve always wished Spielberg has used Frank Darabont’s ending for The Mist on his War of the Worlds remake. Man…imagine it. A.I is great. But the Terminal? Easily one of his lesser works. Tom Hanks gives a good performance tho. And John Williams score is terrific.

Stan the Man

The only miss has been Ready Player One. Fabelman’s, Bridge of Spies, The Post & West Side Story are all fantastic. The man has one of the great filmography’s of all time.

Stan the Man

"The Post" was really good, but yeah, he's been very hit or miss lately.

This movie was ok. It won't be on my re-watch list. I'm not a big Spielberg fan. He's made some movies I really enjoy, but he's not someone I get excited about when he has a new film. Since 'Lincoln' I don't think he's put out anything I've had any desire to see.

Jeffrey Miller

For great mystery detective thrillers, anything by David Fincher: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Zodiac, Gone Girl

Odd Thomas

One of my least favourite Spielberg films - not because it's bad or anything but because of the constant deception on screen, it just makes me squirm, lol. My fave Spielberg movie is War of the Worlds. Some other underrated Spielberg movies: A.I. Artificial Intelligence and The Terminal.

Odd Thomas

The 'Burbs is my favourite Hanks film too, and definitely in my top 5 favourite films of all time! I can't wait to see it on the channel at some point.

Future Boy

Lol. It’s all a lie. His story has been looked into again and again and it’s 99.9% bullshit. You should read about the people who’ve investigate his claims. That’s the real story. Frank claims the guy who wrote his autobiography got carried away with some of the details. But that’s a lie too. His wiki page goes into some of the details on the “veracity” of his claims.

Stan the Man

So this needs to be said. Frank Abagnale Jr didn’t do any of the stuff he says hes done. His story is one big con job. He didn’t work for the FBI. He didn’t work as a doctor. Didn’t work as a lawyer. He was never a pilot. The only thing that’s true? He wrote some bad checks and went to jail. The real story of Frank is that he conned people into believing he’s a con man. https://nypost.com/2023/03/13/catch-me-if-you-can-conman-frank-abagnale-lied-about-his-lies/

Stan the Man

Great film. The real Frank Abagnale had a cameo in this, he is the French police officer who arrests Leonardo DiCaprio. I read the autobiography this is based on.. the French prison he was in was much worse than depicted in the film.. basically kept naked in a cell , with just a bucket for a bathroom.. beaten on a regular basis, and kept in isolation He was extradited to Sweden before the United States , which was heaven compared to the French prisons. He was about to be extradited to Italy which was apparently worse. Carl is an amalgam of several real people.

Great Reaction as Always guys !! You Really have to watch my Favorite Tom Hanks Movie "The Burbs" from 1989 !!! CLASSIC!! Another great films are "Turner & Hooch" from 1989 (My Favorite Dog Comedy Film Ever) and "Sleepless in Seattle" from 1993 and of Course "Philadelphia" from 1993 ... From di Caprio you need to watch "The Beach" from 2000 and "This Boys Life" from 1993, and "Blood Diamond" from 2006

Florian Meier

Did you recognize Tom Hanks' shorter colleague? The actor, Frank John Hughes, played Sgt. Bill "Gonorrhea" Guarnere in Band of Brothers.

Jen Barnes

Pilots were like rock stars in those early days. It was no wonder people bent over backwards to get Frank's checks cashed. I also saw Amadeus was close in the voting. Any chance that pops up randomly anytime soon?

Donna Castellano

When was the last time anyone asked a doctor for their credentials? We just assume! Please get a comfortable couch or chairs for yourselves. Frank would want you to!

Ellie Miller

You can find talks Frank Abegnale gives on youtube. They're some great stuff.

Reed James

Not my favorite LEO movie but I'll watch anything he's in lol

dieselbeast

Wish I could go back in time to see the airlines in the 1960s. Looks like so much fun.

Athos Count de la Fère

Oh hell yes this movie is awesome.
