Clerks (1994) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Clerks (1994) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

Clerks 2 is super cringey bad... clerks 3 is better... I think clerks, mallrats and chasing amy are his best... red state is kinda cool... but the rest are just super silly... jay and silent bob strike back is also ok... but Kevin Smith definitely lost his touch

Sutil

Wes Anderson has 3 good films... his first three... Royal Tenembaums is his best... everything after sucks

Sutil

Who finds this film boring? I've never met anyone that has find this film boring... it's so funny and clever...

Sutil

Some other fun trivia: the film only cost $27,000 to make. And there’s a notorious alternate ending where someone robs the store and shoots Dante. The film is loosely based on The Divine Comedy (hence the name Dante) and the 9 “breaks” (with the words popping on screen) representing the 9 circles of hell.

Red state and half of tusk

Vlasios Vougiouklis

Any particular Wes Anderson film?! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

So excited to check out their Departed reaction haha -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Randall was also my favorite part! He definitely grew on me! I'm so glad they didn't end up with that ending! -Sam

Same here

I do recommend Clerks II and III. It shows Dante and Randal's relationship evolving overtime and still lots of great dialogue still in the same vein but also reflecting Kevin Smith's own journey and growth and thoughts about life.

Ricardo Alanis

hope to see a Miller's Crossing (1990) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) poll appearence/reaction by the Schmitts.

YoureMrLebowski

Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back are peak Smith; after that it goes downhill (although I do have a soft spot for Yoga Hosers in a so-bad-its-good way)

Odd Thomas

Super excited for this! Dogma is fantastic and the entire Askewniverse is worth a watch.

Ricardo Alanis

this movie is definitely an acquired taste lol some love it others find it boring lol

dieselbeast

Love it! I hope Wes Anderson makes it on your next Comedy poll.

Brian Shipman

idk if I would recommend all of these to non-KS fans, but Chasing Amy and Dogma are worth seeing for anyone.

Nerd Going Outside

you should just do the Kevin Smith universe at this point: MALLRATS CHASING AMY DOGMA JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK CLERKS II ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO JAY AND SILENT REBOOT CLERKS III

Jason Dolan

I love your reactions but this movie is so boring. Can’t wait for your next one.

Korny

I thought Desperado was a pretty boring generic Hollywood remake. Didn't even bother with the third.

Marcus Cato

Hey TBR. I just wanted to say that I'm so glad you finally reacted to "Clerks"! If I may recommend something to you guys; I HIGHLY recommend that you guys react to EVERY, SINGLE Kevin Smith movie from this point forward as often as you guys can because, in my opinion, they are definitely worth your time. I believe the next Kevin Smith film is "Mallrats", which I think you're gonna get a kick out of. Also, if I may make another franchise-watching suggestion: as soon as you guys can, maybe start reacting to all of the "Star Trek" movies. It's similar to "Star Wars" in that it takes place in outer space, but that's where the similarities end. In my opinion, I think all of the "Star Trek" movies (from 1-13) will also be well worth your guy's time. I've been a big fan of your guy's channel for a while now, so keep up the great work! Hope to hear from you guys soon! :)

Jim Kerrigan

I haven't seen Clerks 3 but I felt like I was the only person who didn't like Clerks 2. I won't give spoilers in case Sam and Dan decide to watch, but a few confabs aside, I was hugely disappointed.

Donna Castellano

that was my predicament this evening too.

Anthony Perez

If you want to dig deeper into the 90’s Independent Film movement, you should check out Richard Linklater’s “Slacker” (1990). Kevin Smith has said that this is the movie that made him realize he too could make an independent film. Fair warning, it’s a weird movie.

Grand Moff Slackin'

You're a genius...

Steve Mercier

I love the rest of the trilogy, but El Mariachi for me is just kind of a novelty. Not a great movie, but an early glimpse at some of the filmmaking techniques that would become staples in Rodriguez‘a future films.

Nick of Time

Why not both?

Tim Raths

The fucking macdaddies of Jersey? 🌹Dogma aswell

Deano

Aaarrggh...you guys are killing me today. You have Clerks! Popcorn in Bed has The Departed! Decisions, decisions...

Steve Mercier

Another cool movie made on a similar budget was El Mariachi. Highly recommended!

Marcus Cato

Randall was the best part of this movie in my opinion. He did such a good job with his delivery, and had all the best lines. There is an alternate ending where someone tries to rob the store after Randall leaves, and ends up shooting Dante. Obviously they realized that ending was too much of a downer and dropped it. :D

I was 18 and working at a convenience store when this came out. Talk about a movie talking to you. 😊 I was in love with all the old Askiewniverse. Clerks, Mallrats (the theatrical cut), Chasing Amy, and Dogma (which is hard to find...except somebody uploaded it to YouTube 😂). Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is ok, but I like the graphic novel it was based on better. Jersey Girl is sooo underrated. Tears and laughs every time (and technically not connected to Jay & Bob). Everything else is a pass for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

ShadowVessel π

My favorite will always be Dogma. Growing up Catholic like Kevin did, it was an interesting experience watching it. Esp with all the silly controversy around it at the time. Similar to the idiocy with The Last Temptation of Christ, crazily enough.

Donna Castellano

Mallrats is not good, but it is fun. You just have to enter watching it as you would something like Porkys.

Vwlss Nvwls

Around the time that Mallrats was in the theaters, I kept hearing about Kevin Smith, so I decided to rent this movie and fell in love with it. When I saw Mallrats I was hooked to his style and watched and bought all his movies. I remember watching the Clerks cartoon series on t.v. for it's limit run, and bought that dvd as well. And one of my absolute favorites, and probably his best funniest and most fun film is Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. It is so very good. I also loved Kevin Smith's part in the fourth Die Hard movie. Up until the past decade I was a huge fan of his, but he has been rather questionable to me as of late. Still, I can always enjoy his early legacy.

Vwlss Nvwls

"Try not to suck any d*ck on the way through the parking lot! Hey, you get back here!". Probably my favorite bit. Or "You can't rent here anymore!""YEAH!!!!!" Which my sister and I still say to this day.

Donna Castellano

Clerks is Great !! 37 in a Row ;) love also the jaws Imitation!! Another Great one is Chasing Amy, Mallrats is not so good

Florian Meier

Mallrats for me is just pure nostalgia. Saw it at a sleepover when I was 15 and we laughed so hard and quoted that movie endlessly.

Shaun Eberle

The ViewAskewniverse was very big for me in high school. Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy are still Kevin Smith's best.

Shaun Eberle

You gotta watch jay and silent bob strike back😂

JoshG

They're watching the theatrical cut, in case someone is wondering.

W T

YES. TBR Schmitt... welcome to the View Askewniverse.
