2023-04-20 16:24:00 +0000 UTChope to see a Miller's Crossing (1990) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) make a poll appearance. truth be told, my greatest wish would be an executive decision to bypass the polls and go straight to the reaction. 😇

2023-04-14 13:20:07 +0000 UTCMaybe consider M*A*S*H for a future poll. Not many Korean War films out there.

2023-04-09 21:09:10 +0000 UTCAn absolute boost for Come and See. It’s horrific, but curiously not very graphic. The story and the way it’s told, is what’s horrific. The former Soviets were some of the best filmmakers in history. We certainly can’t fault them for their art. Other top examples are The Ascent (1977), Ivan’s Childhood (1962), and The Cranes Are Flying (1957), all of which are war movies, or at least set in wartime.

2023-04-08 18:52:13 +0000 UTCYes, yes, yes. And yes, again. It’s one of the most unique “war” movies ever made. The best examples always exist beyond their genre.
David Wilkins
2023-04-08 18:40:21 +0000 UTCI wish Schindler's List were on this poll. I consider it the most perfect film I've ever seen. Come and See is the most disturbing war film I've ever seen, bar none. With that said, it is not gratuitous at all and very important to watch because it allows us--a Western audience--to have exposure to what WWII was like on the eastern front and see how a Soviet filmmaker interpreted the war in his land. I HIGHLY recommend watching both down the line.

2023-04-07 17:09:31 +0000 UTCI LOVE The Thin Red Line. It'll make for an interesting react video because of Malick doing Malick things.

2023-04-05 18:06:15 +0000 UTCA Hallmark war film is a great way to put it.

2023-04-05 18:03:57 +0000 UTCIt's like a combination of a Hallmark card and Faces of Death.

2023-04-04 12:25:35 +0000 UTCIt’s terrible. Terrible. How is it beating The Thin Red Line? You just never know who subs to these patreon’s. I’m constantly appalled at movies that win polls over other movies.

2023-04-04 03:54:58 +0000 UTCI really like this one and It's a pretty good flick, but pales in comparison to Das Boot. Also, giving the USN credit for capturing the first enigma machine from the Germans when it was the British, had the movie lose some points with me

2023-04-03 19:23:15 +0000 UTCAmazing and harrowing movie. Could possible be considered one of the best horror movies ever made as well. That last 30 minutes stays with you for a while

2023-04-03 19:10:39 +0000 UTCAs good as the current list is, I believe yours has some that are even better

2023-04-03 19:06:37 +0000 UTCI genuinely don't get the love for We Were Soldiers. It makes Michael Bay look subtle.

2023-04-03 18:33:17 +0000 UTCAnd i Really Like Mel Gibson as an Actor since 1981 !! He was one of the Greatest ... But IT's ok, I Respect your opinion ... For Example I Really Really don't like Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage or Kevin Spacey ... But All of them are good Actors
Florian Meier
2023-04-03 08:30:02 +0000 UTCI liked 'Memphis Belle'. It takes place on a bomber which is at least a unique setting for a WW2 film. "We Were Soldiers' is a Vietnam War movie in so far as it's about the war. It's far more similar to US war movies in general than the movies most people think of when they think about Vietnam war movies. But I have a big bias against it as I really really really don't like Mel Gibson.
Jeffrey Miller
2023-04-03 01:40:06 +0000 UTCI know it's not going to win but Come and See is life changing. I would love love love to see a reaction to it.

2023-04-02 16:34:59 +0000 UTCThat, and the new one has little to do with the story of the book. I'll give it props for acting and being well made. As an adaptation of the story? No, the previous entries are better, esp the 1930 film.

2023-04-02 00:53:59 +0000 UTCYou should watch the original All Quiet on the Western Front. It holds up very well for when it came out.

2023-04-01 22:31:16 +0000 UTCThe Dirty Dozen.

2023-04-01 20:57:55 +0000 UTCRecommendation: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

2023-04-01 20:03:37 +0000 UTCYeah, I don't know many of these movies, but The Pianist was a decent movie, so I at least supported it.
Dee Aitch
2023-04-01 18:15:56 +0000 UTCI'm pulling for The Pianist, Patton or - everyone has to see it eventually - Come and See. And I'll throw into the suggestion pool some very unlikely winners: Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory, Gallipoli, Breaker Morant, Enemy At The Gates, and the original, silent All Quiet On The Western Front.
Neal Romanek
2023-04-01 16:13:57 +0000 UTCThe Pianist is the most underrated movie on here. I wouldn't call it a war film. More like a drama

2023-04-01 15:29:10 +0000 UTCSecond for Where Eagles Dare
Florian Meier
2023-04-01 12:25:02 +0000 UTCThe Eagle has landed (1976) and Where Eagles Dare (1968)
christopher brown
2023-04-01 12:20:05 +0000 UTCOther suggestions : 1976 film The Eagle Has Landed, 1965 film Von Ryan`s Express, 1966 film The Sand Pebbles & 1956 film The Man Who Never Was, this latter film is a War/Drama rather than action.

2023-04-01 10:06:39 +0000 UTCFor June, I hope you will react to 1962 film The Longest Day. It features a lot of famous stars of all nationalities & covers the views of all the forces, including the French resistance. Until Saving Private Ryan, it was the go to D-Day film.

2023-04-01 10:00:15 +0000 UTCA great war movie that I don't think gets any recognition is the movie The Lost Battalion , it's a World War 1 movie based on the true events of major Whittlesey and the battalion he commanded the story is extraordinary and amazing Dan and Sam would like it
Wyatt Nuxoll
2023-04-01 08:12:20 +0000 UTCIf you get to watch All quiet on the Western Front please remember to watch it in german with english subtitles. From what ive seen the english dub isnt as good as the original

2023-04-01 07:36:47 +0000 UTCI agree with David Anderson that "Memphis Belle" was a great movie. It should get a lot more exposure. Anyway, you're gonna have to do "Patton" sometime. Not because it's "required viewing" (there's no such thing), but because you'll miss a real treat if you don't see it. Also, "We Were Soldiers" is the most historically accurate and honest of the Vietnam films: I'm not saying it's "better," just that it's truer to the facts of that hideous war. Gibson did an amazing job with a true story.

2023-04-01 05:20:55 +0000 UTCLots of good entries here. Some of the special effects of "the Memphis Belle" don't hold up real well, but I think its the best of the movies on here altogether, for amazing cast, story, dialogue, and meaning. Patton was a close second, though it might be first for me. We Were Soldiers is excellent for the most part, but many of the scenes with the wives keep it from top tier for me..

2023-04-01 04:44:51 +0000 UTCReally hoping they get around to the Pianist someday. I don't think it will ever win a poll because most people have never seen it but Adrian Brody does such a great acting job in it.

2023-04-01 03:58:25 +0000 UTCThe new All Quiet on the Western Front is such a raw and brutal take on WW1.
Lucas Coker
2023-04-01 03:57:26 +0000 UTCA lot of these movies are very different types. Patton is a character study of one famous general. Which is very different than something like Kelly's Hero's which is a group all star cast that is fairly sarcastic. All Quiet is set in WW1 , We Were takes place in Vietnam. I guess Patton because Scott's acting is superb, though the movie is 3 hours long.
