Joel definitely should have told the truth imo but bottom line Ellie should have had the opportunity to decide herself or at least got to decide with Joel so the fireflies bought it on themselves and let's be honest THINKING it might bring a cure is no guarantee so it's possible Ellie dies and nothing changes 🤷 . Loved the puns and the giraffe scene was so wholesome 🙂 . Gotta admit telling Ellie it was her that gave him the reason to go on got me that was a beautiful moment . Gotta say your outro was fantastic I loved it as I have the entire journey with you both it's been emotional 🙂. We really need cobra Kai to return cuz so many heartwrenching shows lately 🥺 at least Ted lasso returned a few days bk which is so funny and wholesome and just makes you feel happy which after this show is most welcome 😃

2023-03-22 20:14:40 +0000 UTCUmm…it will take me awhile to process the last episode. Clearly it was set up for a second season. Episodes 3 & 8 were my favorites. They were excellent. I feel about episode 9 the way I felt after watching Alien 3. And if you’ve seen it, you’ll know what I mean. I love it now but it took me a long time to realize how good it was. Overall, excellent show. I’m glad that there doing a second season. There has to be more people like Ellie, having the mother get bit at the moment she’s giving birth, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

But do I think Joel was right? No, it wasn't thought through. I mean, they released all those shroom zombies in Kansas. That's another apocalypse right there. I'm not sure how much of Joel's rampage was trying to save a girl from being chopped up or losing his only apocalypse companion. Who knows? Maybe Joel likes the apocalypse.

It's an incredible game and an incredible show when it can spark this much discussion. I loved every minute of it. Couple of quotes to consider: "Kids die all the time. Do you think the whole world revolves around him? That he’s worth ..... everything?". Clear parallels here. "I protected him. That's why men like us are here. 2023-03-20 02:59:07 +0000 UTC1. For all we know it could be far more than 50%. That's just an unknown factor. All we know is it's not 100%, but it's definitely considered a viable solution. 2. We don't know how well or how poorly the Fireflies have planned this. 3. Given the circumstances I don't think it's possible to carry out clinical trials which would meet FDA guidelines. Again, we are talking about the potential to save BILLIONS of lives and rebuild society. 4-6. Again, we don't know what the plan is, but I think they've at least thought about it to some degree. 7. Do you really think there would be that many people who would refuse a vaccine to protect them something that literally brought down civilization as we know it? This is not covid. It's effects are far more severe and clear cut. There are things that kill far more people every year than covid has in three. Hell, Tuberculosis has retaken the top spot for deadliest infectious disease. The fungus has killed enough people to collapse society. I don't think there would be a significant number of people who'd refuse a chance to get vaccinated. 8. Again, this is a completely unknown variable any pessimistic guess is just as valid as any optimistic guess. 9. You really are reaching with this one. As much money as could be made from the apocalypse, infinitely more could be made rebuilding society. Construction, manufactoring, education, services, restaurants, travel. Trust me, anyone keeping these kinds of things from happening would disappear double quick. Again, I think we're confusing "Was what Joel did understandable?" and "Was it ethically right to completely foreclose the possibility of some kind of treatment which could save untold numbers of people and help bring back a world that people would actually want to raise their kids in. Yes, Ellie should have been given the choice, but we all agree on that. I still maintain that taking that chance is the more ethical choice.

But she should be given all the facts and have the following questions answered. Remember, the Fireflies are pretty inept. That was mentioned in Episode 1. The Fireflies in Boston spent 20 years doing pointless bombings and never made any inroads into defeating FEDRA. 1. What is the likelihood a vaccine can be made from her? Like real percentage chances. I bet its under 50% - and that's being generous. What are the side effects of the vaccine? 2. What other elements need to be mixed with whatever they capture? Do we have enough of that? 3. Clinical trials? How effective does it have to be to go forward? What about the lives that are lost in the trials? As far as I can tell the only way to test it would be to infect people and see what happens. They don't have computers that can simulate it. It also looks like animals aren't affected by the fungus. 4. How the fuck are the Fireflies going to mass produce a vaccine? 5. How are they going to get the bottles, needles, refrigeration, etc to store more than a few doses? 6. How will they mass distribute it? 7. Who is going to believe someone who just shows up with a needle and says "take this?" You think there are conspiracy theories about COVID vaccine? This will be mad. 8. Will the Fireflies just give it away? How does that work? 9. There are people who profit in the apocalypse. Who is going to protect the facilities, distributors, doctors who are trying to get people vaccinated from bad actors who do not want to see a cure? There is zero chance this procedure can "save the world" or even come close to it. These questions are just the tip of the iceberg of everything that would go wrong.

P.S. regarding yesterdays live I second Daniel that we need Sam to watch Blast from the Past 😊

2023-03-19 19:21:18 +0000 UTCI called all of the beginning. Who it was and what happened and how it happened. I love this episode. I love the giraffes too. I remember that was in some of the trailers for the game and I was like that is so cool! I also love how beautiful the overgrowth is on the cityscapes. In the early part of the game you're going out with either Marlene or Tess (I can't remember) and it's the first time you leave the QZ and you go to this backyard and everything is so gorgeous.. My backyard is kind of like that when the grass goes long like there's these beautiful flowers everywhere but then there's also just ugly crap and it definitely needs to be strategically landscaped.. but right now I don't have the time so I just have 'em cut it all. but it's gorgeous. I think when I buy my land and build a house I wanna make it look like that from the outside, but from the inside it would be just completely kept. I imagine it would also give the impression that it's been abandoned for a long time and ward off looters / raiders if S ever hits the fan. Watching this episode I remember this scene from the game in the hospital but I'm like.. I don't remember that ending being any way like that but I don't remember it at all. It's more like "WTF I can't believe any game would end that way" rather than you know.. me remembering different. I don't remember at all. The other reason is coz in the game when you finish the game, you get to start a "New Game Plus" mode where you keep all your weapons and items, and this is kind of necessary because you level up in certain way to where there's certain weapons you can't use until you at least partly through the game twice or something because of the way whatever the currency is or whatever parts or however you upgrade weapons (I seriously don't remember at all). I think it would be awesome if you guys played this on stream! I would love watching it.

2023-03-19 18:49:27 +0000 UTCI don't know how anyone can see the ending and not come to the conclusion that Joel was acting in a selfish way. Yes, he loved Ellie, but most of all he loved being a father again and how that makes him feel. Notice near the end how he talks about Sarah, comparing and contrasting her with Ellie. He's reveling in the fact that he's going to live in Jackson with Ellie. He lies to Ellie, in part, because he needs her to think of him as a good father. Joel is self-centered. Does he think he's the only person in that hospital that has a daughter or equivalent that needs them for guidance and protection? Denying the world a potential cure is denying billions to have even a chance of being able to be a mother or father. Joel's behavior is understandable at a individual psychological level. As far as the story goes, it makes the most sense. But what Joel did was mostly for Joel and his own emotional comfort. Am I the only one who felt like there were certain parts of the rampage that felt like they were trying to make it look a bit like the game? I'll have to watch it again, but some of the shots of Joel taking cover, reload, and such really felt like they could have come from the game and not in a bad way. I thought it was pretty interesting.

When I first started watching reactions it was more like "This 25 year old doesn't know what's going to happen in Alien even though it's a classic, ha ha, chest burster scene"
