Comments

Been in Portugal past week so only just getting to this reaction and it was a cracker of an episode Bella's acting was superb πŸ‘Œ my gosh that preacher guy was so creepy and a little insane I mean the building was literally burning down dude wth . You both realised it wasn't venison rather the girls dad before I did but that reveal wasn't far away , Oh and did you notice the error when Ellie kicks the bowl of food over it reappears next to her later lol . When Joel said I got you baby girl it got me too guys . Ok well gotta get to work so will watch the finale later today πŸ‘ cheers guys this was great

LOL the vibes were not right at that place! We did not pick that up! That makes sense, they went for him when they're starving omg. These are all incredible points that we did not put together, except David's creepiness with that poor girl, ugh. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it. Bella Ramsey is incredible! The relationship that Bella and Pedro have been able to capture is something else! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Yes, absolutely! His love for Ellie got him through, ugh that line will always bring a tear to my eye! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Yes!! -Sam

Thanks, Sebastian! We had no clue but it sounded like a clicker for sure! David was the worst of the worst! What an absolutely remarkable episode! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Agreed, there needed to be way more communication on what was happening and obviously not murdering people -Sam

TBR Schmitt

HAHAHAH! Thank you, Duncan! He appreciates it -Sam

TBR Schmitt

The comments have been agreeing! Especially with Ellie being her own hero at the end! -Sam

Great reaction! You guys guessed the cannibal thing immediately holy shit. A couple things that i've picked up on rewatches that you might not have thought about: -The reason those guys attacked Joel at the university is because they were out looking for food. Human food. -they've probably been eating people for 6 months, because James says to David "the last 6 months have been hard". He was struggling having to eat people, which you can tell by how slowly and hesitantly he takes bites of the food and how he seems to have lost some faith in David's leadership, but is probably scared to leave or say anything because he doesnt want to end up as the next dinner -David gets a huge plate of the food while everyone else gets smaller portions, further showing his narcissism. Also the way he watches the girl eat her dad makes it seem like he probably gets some sick pleasure out of it -the clicker sound in the woods was probably the sound of the deer's antlers rubbing up against a tree Bella Ramsey is an absolute force to be reckoned with and is truly the star of this show. Everyone else is amazing of course but holy shit she just steals it for me.

I've watched a few different reactions to this episode. One reviewer said during Joel's search for Ellie: "I wonder what it's like to be fueled completely by just rage and adrenaline?". I never heard anything more accurate. Joel hadn't eaten in days, barely had water, had a serious injury with a serious infection. But Ellie was in trouble. It was amazing to watch him. He could barely stand while torturing those guys to get info. But he did what he had to. It's ok babygirl. I got you.

That sound is the antlers of the deer rubbing up against a tree

Alive is a terrific movie.

How did you put it, David? Hmm? "Tiny little pieces?"

This was my favorite episode out of an amazing season of stellar episodes. Right before Ellie spots the deer, I swear that is a clicker noise. The show definitely used a clicker sound to fake us out. When they are first serving up the "venison" it looks like David is given a large portion compared to everyone else's small bowl. David gets a fucking mound on his plate. What kind of shitty leader hoards food when women and children are starving? Fucking David, that's who. The show made an interesting contrast between the efficacy of the Silverlake and Jackson communities. Joel calling Ellie "baby girl" is going to live in my heart forever.

This episode reminds me I should recommend 'Alive' (1993). Edit: While watching the post-reaction you mentioned the story which the above film is about. Personally I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with cannibalism in such circumstances providing that people are not killed just to be eaten and people should be informed and given the choice of whether they want to eat the dead.

Just watched your Q&A yesterday ,so wanted to come and give Daniel some bro hugs πŸ«‚ that he is not getting from his work colleagues Also based on the insight that Daniel spends 10% of his days sitting on the toilet 🚽🧻 ,if he ever sees this comment ,then that is likely where he will be reading it. It was an enjoyable Q&A and it was nice to learn more about the Schmitt's and Cooper✌️

Andrew

I thought this was one of the season’s best episodes. It actually handled things even better than the game.

Nick of Time

Hand on your forehead, stressed out Sam rules! Don't eat the venison!
