There's Something About Mary (1998) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

I do not know if anyone already posted this, but when Ted falls over on the stretcher when getting loaded into the ambulance, that wasn't supposed to happen so Stiller holding his arm and making a painful face was a real reaction they just kept the take in the film.

vicious tyler

Shallow Hal, also by the Farrellys, is my personal favourite of theirs. It has their usual gross-out gags but also has a surprisingly deep message about not judging a book by its cover.

Odd Thomas

I think this flick was one of the first gross-out comedies that popularized a trend for a while in the late 90's and early 00's. The Farrelly Brothers were always pretty good at that kind of stuff. ME, MYSELF & IRENE is very similar. You guys might have to give the HOT TUB TIME MACHINE movies a go at some point. Also, RAISING ARIZONA is classic Cohen Brothers.

Philip Davetas

Not a fan of Mary but Raising Arizona and Clerks are worth waiting for!

Odd Thomas

It's in this theatrical cut, when Norm and Healy are in the strip club.

Tucker said at one point (maybe only in the extended version) that his friend took a baseball bat to his back so that he could get an appointment to see Mary lol

Nicky D

About Tucker's back issue he explained to Pat at some point that he asked a friend to break his back with a baseball bat. They got it covered. You really should see the extended version I remember seeing a documentary about this movie where they said it took a while before getting made and everybody in Hollywood has read the script and thought it was the funniest thing they ever read but no one was committing to produce it.

Yann Laliberté

No worries! All are great fun!

Brian Shipman

So when Tucker/Norm and Healy are at the bar, he mentions a friend broke his back with a baseball bat so he could spend more time with Mary 😅 Also the actor who plays Tucker, Lee Evans, is actually British. For the longest time I thought he was faking that accent lol.

Nismo

It won by one vote so I think you're fine - and this movie is amazing!

Jason Dolan

Stuck on You is massively underrated

Jason Dolan

Richard Tyson. He also plays the bully (very well) in Three O'Clock High (1987), which is a quirky little comedy that I hope gets a reaction one day!

Future Boy

Darn, theatrical. One thing I've always liked about the extended version for this movie is that they recreated the opening credit sequence in claymation. A nice little extra effort they didn't have to do.

Thomas Yanez

Had a blast laughing along with you guys, looking forward to Raising Arizona, classic

Ken Veader

The angry cop from the interrogation scene is the psycho bad guy from Kindergarten cop.

Jen Barnes

By the way another note is the number of actors that are not main actors to the story line that were in this movie were also in other Farrelly brothers movies, also as secondary actors not involved in the main plot . The hitchhiker in this one plays a police officer in dumb and dumber. The detective who interrogates Ben Stiller in this one plays a bartender in dumb and dumber as well.

Rob Robby

this is by far an all time favorite comedy. pure gold. best movie of the farelly brothers

Rob Robby

No apology needed, this is far more entertaining than those other two!

David Crabtree

Was hoping you would react to this for ages so it's a pleasant surprise 🥳 about to start watching rn but quickly before I do . If you enjoyed this then definitely consider meet the parents , shallow hal and holes 👍

Ian

Happy accident for me, I like this movie better than either of those.

Tostito Buddy

Ah ok. Maybe their following you! 😎🥸

Apologies on this one, I completely thought that There's Something About Mary won the Patreon Poll and I'm not sure if I looked too early before it closed or I just can't math, but we are going to be doing Raising Arizona and Clerks in the coming weeks (but still spreading out the comedies). We didn't realize until Daniel starting editing and he pulled the poll! Sorry for the confusion! -Sam

This movie is so funny and was kinda the starter for the “gross out” comedies that would follow. Any who, I can’t wait to watch the reaction. Comedies and horror movies are my favorite reactions to watch.

Robert Boyd

This was from a Patreon Poll we posted in January :) -Sam

You guys must be following Octokrool. They just posted their reaction to this a few days ago
