Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

This movie has a bizarre moment where there is a montage of the Chinese criminals handling mountains of money, some of them were real 1990s mainland China RMB ¥ bills, and others (the red ones) were completely made up BUT they pasted the faces of the four Communist leaders who WERE on the 1980s to 1990s ¥100 bills onto them. What, you can’t find actual Hong Kong Dollar bills?! 😅

David W.

Get ready to root for the bad guy!

Bennett Holleman

Kiss of the Dragon is probably my favorite non-Hong Kong movie of Jet Li.

Imzadi

Sorry Jay Robert, the captain's real name is Steve Kahan, not Richard Donner.

Steve Smith

Payback was the first film I ever saw on DVD!

Future Boy

A Mel Gibson movie you'd love: Payback

Odd Thomas

It's not. It's actor Steve Kahan. But it does look a lot like him. He's in most of/if not all of Richard Donner's movies. But they are cousins.

Philip Davetas

Probably not the first to say this but did you guys know that the actor who plays the captain is Richard Donner?

Jay Robert

Man, love all these 3-William-56 flicks. The Jet Li battle at the end is probably my favorite final fight in the series. Richard Donner said on the commentary that they had to change the shutter speed on the camera because Jet Li was too fucking fast to be captured. Plus, Mel Gibson had a hard time memorizing Jet Li's punches so they asked him to slow down a little. That freeway chase was done at the last minute to be able to cut a trailer to get ready for the summer release. And not many action flicks get a fourth act especially as long as this. Donner also independently paid a graphic designer to do those end credits with everyone's pictures because WB wouldn't pay for it. What WB wanted was white credits over black. But he always felt that the crew and cast he worked with since 1986 were family to him. Which is why the last line of the movie is, "We're family." All these movies choke me up. Also, Sam, I guess you can add eye gauges and rebar impalements of things you can't watch. All in all, it was really fun watching this series with you guys.

Philip Davetas

It's bittersweet to see you guys finish the Lethal Weapon series, but it kept you guys busy since before Christmas! Now that you're almost done with Die Hard, Rambo, and now Lethal Weapon...I recommend the three Beverly Hills Cop films with Eddie Murphy, and the Rush Hour films with Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan.

Mike the Ginger

Jet Li movies next please. Kiss of the Dragon, The One and Unleashed are my top 3 picks

Lorenzo Turner

If you guys like Jet Li, you should see Kiss of the Dragon and Unleashed

Ed R

Can I recommend reacting to Jet Li's Fist of Legend, great kung fu film

Ken Veader

I study Tai Chi Chuan with a classmate of Jet Li's from the Beijing Wusha team, she's amazing. Would love to see them react to Jet Li's Fist of Legend, maybe his best film

Ken Veader

This is why I would rather not have another movie. This one tied things up so well, and that ending song showing pictures on the set over all the years and movies. It just feels like a full closure experience. I love this one so much. Richard Donner was a great film maker, and this one shows that a lot in so many ways. RIP Richard Donner.

Vwlss Nvwls

That was way better than I remember it! :D

Reed James

Bird Man Fowls Human Tank

Ellie Miller

This is also the first time I ever saw Jet Li in anything although I had a poster of him and the rest of the Beijing Wushu Team from a Kung Fu magazine. I actually almost got to train with him in DC when he came with the Beijing Wushu Team and offered a seminar but I was unable to go.

Alex

No, you have to remember the self-help version of it "We're not too old for this shit! We're not too old for this shit!" lol. So I dunno if you saw in the beginning in the general trivia. Just like with Bruce Lee movies Jet Li had to slow down his movements because they were so fast you couldn't see the kicks on camera. Which in retrospect isn't really as huge of a thing as they make it sound since 24fps is pretty slow, but Jet Li is incredibly fast. The next Jet Li film I saw after this was Unleashed. He had made a bunch of other Chinese movies as well. So it's not Jet Li but really epic amazing movie you guys should see: The Myth with Jackie Chan. Probably one of the best movies ever made. It's a kung fu movie with tons of action but also an epic story that spans centuries. I would say to watch that before Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, House of Flying Daggers. It's on part with those movies but more epic.

Alex

Forgot how great this movie was til this re-watch with you guys. Good stuff!

That final fight with Jet Li still gives me chills. I was 14 when I first saw this in theaters, so I was SO SCARED that Riggs was gonna die. lol This was the movie that introduced me to Jet Li, and he made a badass and terrifying impression on me. One of the greatest final fights I've ever seen, because it was so brutal and real. You get this dread that Murtaugh and Riggs weren't gonna make it, because they were clearly outmatched and outskilled. Not only that, the way that Murtaugh used his sixth sense to save Riggs from drowning was amazing. That entire scene was beautiful. From the music to the anxiety, it clearly shows how much they love each other. Just a full circle moment of brotherhood. Probably my personal favorite of the 4 films, but the first one is RIGHT on the edges. Thank you both for reacting to entire series. It was a blast revisiting these.

EdmanXERO

my personal favorite

Terry Lee

Nice, i was waiting for this one and Top Gun. :)

Marcio T

Love all four Leathal Weapon movies. This one is just as good as the first three. And it also introduced Jet Li to the American audience. Or at least to those who didn't know him from his previous HK movies. In the making of they explained that he had to slow down his moves in that scene at Murtaughs house because his was to fast for the cameras. The final fight is just brutal and fantastic. Edit: This is a perfect ending to the franchise. I don't know if I want a fifth, now that Richard Donner has passed. But you should watch Maverick direct by Donner and with Gibson. It has some nice callbacks to LW and ist a really fun and entertaining movie. Jodie Foster and James Garner a great too.

Imzadi

This was a blast!!! So fun to experience this series for the first time with you guys!!! 😁😁

Brent

Oh nooo hahaha Froggy got me right in the feels 😂 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

TBR Schmitt

Fuck YEEEAAAHHH 🤘

ShadowVessel π

But froggy was his best friend! So heartless.

Tostito Buddy

My least favourite (the Pesci speech is so cringe) but I'm excited to see you guys react to it.

Odd Thomas

I was about to go to bed, you bastards. 4 is definitely my favorite, there was enough of a gap between movies that it felt a bit reunion-ish in a good way, and they definitely wrote it to be the last one. The ending fight is so great. Even the corny "will it to me" thing is great.

Tostito Buddy

Yes !! I Love the Ending and the Froggy Speech ;) ... Great Way to End the Series !! For me the Greatest Action Series of All Time

Florian Meier

Yeahhh! I’m watching as soon as I get home
