Drama Movie Poll!

Help pick the Drama movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

NOTE: I have seen Catch Me If You Can & Gran Torino, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction.

*We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

Comments

It's such a great movie, I have faith that it will one day bubble up to the top.

Neal Romanek

Yeah, JFK is dynamite. It has every actor in the world in it, all giving amazing performances.

Neal Romanek

So many excellent movies here, you just can't go wrong with any of them. Try to watch the original cut of Amadeus instead of the "Director's Cut".

Neal Romanek

Crunch time! I'm sure we can find another 65-70 Dog Day Afternoon voters somewhere 🤪

Paul Cox

gran torino

Adam Briceland

A shame Dead Poets Society isn't doing better. Robin William's best roll apart from Good Will Hunting (Good Morning Vietnam is his 3rd). Folks really deserve to see this one

Smooticus

Even if it doesn't win this poll, Amadeus definitely needs to be in the schedule sometime soon. I'm eager for yall to see it.

Donna Castellano

You guys should do a bad movie poll and drop a reaction on April first.

dewey dawson

You guys should check out a bunch of Oliver Stone movies. Wall Street, JFK, Nixon, Born of the 4th of July, Salvador, Alexander, The Doors.. I think the only one you've reacted to is Platoon. They are very impactful and a good amount of recent history.

Ed R

JFK is so good

Ken Veader

Shan Watches Movies and James Vs Cinema did great YouTube edits for Amadeus.

Donna Castellano

Good choices. You guys should watch American Gangster if you haven’t since you’re on a Russell Crowe movement right now.

Keith Morrissette

Yes !! More Clint !!!

Florian Meier

Gran Torino to carry on your Clint Eastwood journey!

Aaron Barlow

i see a bunch of good movies on here .. and then i see Amadeus .. the choice should be clear here

Burt_Fuggin_Reynolds

If you want a really good drama that caught me by surprise is my dog skip......

darrell40

Trainspotting is a masterpiece ;)

esclad

that's a fantastic Film!!!!

Chris Bruneau

Not really minding that, I firmly put Catch Me If You Can in that category, movie's dope

W T

Yeah, it’s astonishing that Catch Me if You Can is significantly outpacing two of the greatest movies ever made. But such is the hazard of popular polls.

David Wilkins

Dead Poets Society is 1989. I love the movie btw and hope it wins 🤞

Michael Soukup

For the future I recommend Spotlight (2015). won Best Picture Oscar.

richard wilkinson

Looks like Catch Me If You Can is gonna shade it. If that is the case, I hope an executive decision is made and Gone Girl gets a view as well, especially if it only loses out by a few votes. It's such a great film. If not, then it should be put on future Thriller polls, because that's a more appropriate genre.

Shehab Dawoud

I've been rewatching Pixar movies with my little kid and I'm blown away how good they still are. Have they reacted to any Pixar? Has there been a poll for that?

PIG

Amadeus is the best, what an incredible movie. I hope it wins.

Trepid

JFK (1991) is a fantastic film, whether you believe in conspiracies or not.

Mike the Ginger

I voted for TRAINSPOTTING, but CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is really great too! I find it more of an xXxmas flick, but really it spans plenty of seasons.

Philip Davetas

I'm glad Dog Day Afternoon and Trainspotting are included here because they are both great; however, Chinatown is one of the best movies ever made.

Michael Buhl

Dang, what a smooth, even distribution of votes on all those movies. Gotta go for Amadeus though, no way around this.

W T

Totally unrelated to the poll at hand, so my apologies, but I'd like to suggest a 1980s cult/b-movie poll someday with things like Repo Man, The Toxic Avenger, Night of the Comet, Better Off Dead, etc (I'm sure plenty of us elder gen x'ers could come up with 100 suggestions). Just something to think about.

Paul Cox

Barry Lyndon is such an amazing movie cinematically. Alot of the movie was lit with candle light alone. Also Barry Lyndon is where Stanley ended up finding his right hand man Leon Vitale. Without Leon alot of what we've seen in Kubricks movies may not have happened. I'm so glad i got to see him in person a few years back before he passed away recently.

Brian Sevilla

Chinatown is the best movie on the list.

Brian McNally

I'm waiting for A Perfect World(1993)

mikethemotormouth

Whatever movie wins, Amadeus is an absolute must watch. Also, Barry Lyndon is still missing from your Kubrick reactions (along with Lolita). it is a stunning movie.

bosho11

Oh yeah, Network. That's a great classic.

Ed R

Nixon was pretty fantastic. I like watching Nixon and JFK both because there is some crossover in subject matter. Born of the 4th of July might be Tom Cruise's best performance of all time. Followed by The Color of Money and Rain Man.

Ed R

I've suggested other drama movies in the past but I can't remember if I already added these two, so... Steel Magnolias (1989) The Impossible (2012)

Domino

I agree, these really are some great movies in this poll.

PIG

I've been recommending The Insider for a while. And Born on the 4th of July. Great films.

Jonathan Patrick

You didn't like Nixon?

Erwin Quiachon

It is truly a masterpiece film. Definitely his best. 2nd imo is Born on the 4th of July.

Jonathan Patrick

JFK is Oliver Stone's greatest movie, never seen a reaction of it

Andy G

Amadeus is my all time favorite film. I think you two would enjoy it.

JayWantsACat

We have both already seen On The Waterfront -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Galaxy Quest is still here on Patreon, but it was removed from YT due to copyright -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Legends of the Fall (1994) Meet Joe Black (1998)

Jonathan Patrick

It's the price to pay for all of that beautiful music.

Erwin Quiachon

Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River are great Clint Eastwood directed movies

KevG

You guys! THIS is the poll where "Million Dollar Baby" should be, and I'd vote for it! But among these excellent suggestions, I'm all in for "Gran Torino." I'm surprised y'all haven't seen it yet. It comes pretty close to being a perfect movie.

William 1611

Someday you must react to On The Waterfront (1954). Brando at his peak.

richard wilkinson

Gran Torino would be my first choice on this poll, followed by Catch Me If You Can. Random recommendations: 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Face/Off, Armageddon, Galaxy Quest.

David Crabtree

Love The Insider. It will never get a reaction, though, unless it's an executive decision. I don't think most people want to see a reaction to a film that's 99% dialogue. I doubt most followers, many of them being casuals, have seen it either.

Shehab Dawoud

Maybe an all-John Cazale poll, then. They've already reacted to Godfather I and II and The Deer Hunter. That just leaves Dog Day Afternoon and The Conversation.

Raymond Johnson

My Recommendations Born on the Fourth of July (1989) Network (1976) The Insider (1999)

Samolina Pilchard

Gone Girl. David Fincher is the master of book adaptations.

fallingupdownthere

It’s been done.

Catherine LW

JFK

Jonathan Patrick

We'll have to start a support group if it loses a few more times.

Paul Cox

Yes !! Gran Torino is by Far my Favorite one in this Poll

Florian Meier

I vote for Gran Torino and Chinatown !!! Love Both

Florian Meier

Catch Me If You Can is what I hope wins

Jason Dolan

Dog Day Afternoon is in last place? What world am I living in?

Korny

Amazing movie, Directed by Clint Eastwood, staring Sean Penn Kevin Bacon Tim Robbins and has an IMDb score of 7.9 out of 10

Duncan

I’d suggest Mystic River for a future poll if you haven’t seen it.

Cliff Smelley

Ha, I meant another one. I know it rallied pretty well towards the end last time we saw it (in either a drama or crime poll, can't remember), but I think in a purely Pacino poll, and with The Godfather trilogy and Heat out of the way now, its chances would be better. It would only have to get above Carlito's Way and Serpico, and I think it could.

Paul Cox

Trainspotting and Gone Girl are both absolutely fantastic films

Nick Sneddon

I voted Gran Torino on this one. All my choices in these polls will lose. Oh well, there have been some truly great films and some inspired choices on the channel lately. There will be plenty more great movies in the future, even though you guys are so wrong today! 😁😄😛

Mike LL

You should honestly react to everyone of these movies. They are all pretty great, but Chinatown is one of my favorite movies of all time.

StarChild

If you don't like Film Noirs you most like won't like it and I understand. Not every movie is for everyone.

Drzergberg

💯

Tristan Durant

We’ve done an all Al Pacino Poll 😊 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Poor Dog Day Afternoon, it's probably not ever going to win one of these until there's an all-Pacino poll. :(

Paul Cox

I'm really hoping Gone Girl pulls it off, finally. I'm always interested in a married couple's take on this kind of film.

Shehab Dawoud

Amadeus most. Chinatown a close second. They won’t win :(

PIG

Amadeus and Chinatown are must watches.

Drzergberg

Great movie, but I'm sure a pain to edit for YouTube.

Erwin Quiachon

Amadeus! If Mozart was a punk rocker…!

Catherine LW

Gone girl for me and maybe that will lead to a few Ben affleck movies like paycheck with Uma Thurman and the accountant with Anna Kendrick 👌

Ian

No worries! I saw that movie my senior year of high school right before I graduated in 1990. That’s probably how I remembered it. 🤪

Jeff Mills

For the love of all that is holy I hope Trainspotting gains some traction

Fraser

Damn, I'm really messing up the years in these polls haha -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I was hoping Sleepers would make it into this round, but Trainspotting is awesome

ShadowVessel π

Gone Girl, you won’t regret it.

Tristan Durant

Too many great movies in this poll.

Kurt Bohnstadt

Hey! One minor correction: “Dead Poets Society” came out in 1989. It also is my pick. 😊 I love that movie.

Jeff Mills
