The Sopranos Season 4 Episode 10 'The Strong, Silent Type' Full TV Reaction!!

A season so dark that not even the animals make it out alive. Thank God the ducks flew to safety in season 1.

Future Boy

Just to answer your question, Paulie is just dumb in terms of him trusting Johnny Saks from New York. He never thought Jonh would betray the trust. Paulie and Silvo are the most loyal to Tony and the reason Paulie has the painting is because, you gotta remember, to them, this is their first family (the mob.) Most bosses were as accessible as Tony is and Paulie feels privileged to be around "THE BOSS" even though he sometimes hates Tony. You also gotta remember Paulie was around and good friends with Tony's dad and JR and Silvo is like Tony's best friend.

It must've crawled back there for warmth.

What...was it barkin?

The death of the dog is, to me, one of the most hilariously dark comedy moments I've ever seen. My friends and I were talking about the scene a few weeks ago and were nearly in tears laughing.

I’ve watched the intervention scene on YouTube a zillion times and it will never not make me howl laughing. It’s written so beautifully—from Chrissy remembering Dominic from the time he stole the pork loins from Stew Leonard’s all the way through to the cut to the ER. But the actors are who make this such a virtuosic moment of comedic perfection. I think it’s Michael Imperioli’s finest moment in the series. BTW, Paulie’s furniture isn’t plastic. As anyone with Italian grandparents could tell you, it’s regular furniture wrapped in a protective plastic covering. Every crappy thing in my Nona Sally’s house was covered in this stuff and when we would ask her why, she always said so her house would look nice in case the governor or Guy Lombardo ever came for dinner. Now, such a hypothetical seemed highly implausible to me, even at a very tender age but I also knew, even then, that reasoning with her was like talking to a wall, so we all just played along. The governor never came, nor did Guy (at least, in part, because he was dead), but apparently in 1973 after a set at my nono’s Knights of Columbus hall Lou Monte stopped in to use the bathroom because the ones at the hall were busted. Vindication, I guess.

Wrong Aprile brother. Ro was married to Jackie.

I still have some sympathy for Christopher as a character because heroin sucks. Every person I ever met who messed with it would always say "I only do it once in a while," which really means "whenever I possibly can". That said if I were in Tony' s shoes I definitely would've come down harder sooner, because in all honesty, of all the drugs Christopher could be addicted to, heroin is the absolute worst for someone in a serious business, other than crack I suppose, but it makes him a serious liability. Christopher seems to me to be one of those kids that maybe was a little spoiled, or just allowed to get away with more, because of what happened to his dad and being Tony's basically surrogate son and all that. But God damn he's a disappointment sometimes, especially in this episode, his junkie ass literally killed the dog, and then he gives Adriana a black eye for it. Poor Furio man, feel for the guy, but he's just gotta do the right thing, which is nothing. It's not right, another man's wife, not to mention he'll get wacked if he does anything. Which weirdly makes it probably even more romantic for Carmella, the forbidden/danger factor. Reads like a telenovela, but with a potentially horrific ending. I've seen the show once, but years ago and I honestly don't remember what happens to Furio. Fingers crossed.

I still think Ro is one of the few decent people on the show despite her affair. Let's not forget that none the men (except Bobby apparently) take their vows that seriously. Male infidelity is completely normalized in this world. This is my first time watching the series and I'm extremely impressed how David Chase makes his audience all hypocrites. I maintain that Carmela is at her most human and sympathetic when she is interested in another man. The biggest problem with something happening between her and Furio is because of what other men would do. It seems bad that Ro only stopped her affair when Richie got sick, but that makes total sense. She still loved Richie, but the status quo of their relationship was Richie almost certainly had girlfriends. Normally "but they did it first" isn't a good reason to do something bad, but the guys having girlfriends is so ingrained in the culture that I can't help but feel it becomes much less morally objectionable for the wives to meet needs that often are not met in their marriages.

i've said my piece, Chrissy!

One of my favorite episodes. Silvio's turn during the intervention has always killed me. Its such a matter of fact dry delivery "When I came to open up one morning, there you were with your head half in the toilet, your hair was in the toilet water... disgusting." Steven Van Zandt crushes it as Silvio Dante

Alright! I was prepared to wait until tomorrow, but this is great, along with whatever follows or is announced.
