A.J. is a very lucky boy and you're 100% right TBR -- he should immediately put a ring on it! And she's actually a really nice girl that has good intentions.

No it's ok. I've only watched up to episode 9 and it was fantastic. I'm watching along with TBR every week but I just had to watch the next episodes when I had some spare time. I'll take everyone's word that Whitecaps should be it; and it does make sense if it's 75 mins long.

Oh wow, I recognize the French guy, Jean Philippe, he was in "Killing Zoe". It's a pretty obscure movie from the 90s but I think it's cool; heist movie, set in France, starring Eric Stolz. It was written and directed by Roger Avary who was friends with Quentin Tarantino back when they worked at a video store together, and if you watch the opening credits of Pulp Fiction it says based on stories by Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary. I was surprised because I've never seen that actor in anything else, and he was great in that.

Poor Artie, between running away from the Native American protestors last week and then getting beaten up by Elodie’s brother this week, it’s obvious the tough guy business is not for him. However, I do think he’s actually right: even if it wasn't a conscious decision by Tony, when he gave Artie the loan, he could guess what would happen. If the Armagnac thing had worked, A Salud! If it didn’t Artie would be beholden to him forever. Tony is what he is, and he’s good at it. BTW, yes, Tony, you are a toxic person. I highly doubt Furio killed Jean Philippe. It would be bad business as dead men can’t pay. The Frenchman probably caught a serious beating including a broken bone or two after which, I suspect, he found a way to come up with the dough. Finally, I may be hard on Carmela sometimes but my opinion of her went way up here because lasagne with sweet sausage is way better than lasagne with hamburger. I’m just saying.

Tony said “I’ll assume his debt.” But after they got the money then he was probably whacked

Ghost Crusaders

A very underrated episode IMO. It shows the inner conflict Tony has with himself. He knows he's just a fat crook from Jersey but he also believes himself to be a good guy deep down. He gets angry at Artie's assessment of him but then agrees with it during Melfi's session. He makes a donation and throws some money towards Carmela and Brian's way and his guilty conscience is seemingly no more. He equates love with money. Also, I forgot to mention in the other thread that Tony took all of Ralphie's money because he still has beef with him and he can do that as the boss. It was foolish of him to take that big wad of money in front of him. It's kind of when Matt and Sean took out their money in front of Furio. You don't show your money to a made guy especially if they outrank you and they don't like you.

Agreed. I love that dreams in Sopranos aren't just nightmare imagery and more true to life IMO. It's more of a collage of imagery from your life in a blender, usually based on recent events in life, but sometimes weird stuff from the past creeps its way in.

Brandon

I love the way the Gloria nightmare was written/directed. you expect them to show her hanging from the ceiling or there to be a jump scare, but they never go that route. it's such a creepy scene!

Carlos Hurtado

Amen to that. I've been wanting to send up some throw up warnings for Sam after the Stand By Me reaction. It's too much sometimes.

Marcus Cato

Absolutely amazing dream sequence in this episode.

Plus one on Whitecaps being the single episode. The length of the episode, the climax of the season, awards for Falco and Gandolfini for acting. Esclad, sorry if it feels like we are ganging up on you. Episode 9 is awesome. 🤗

Another great couple of episodes, and I would like to express STRONG solidarity with Sam about throw-up. 😶 I’ve never understood what seems to be filmmaker obsession with that bodily function. What is it? Do they think it relays some kind of “authenticity”? What’s even worse, is that watching movies and TV is very often accompanied by eating, snacks if not actual meals. It’s just not something that anybody needs to see, yet in the past 20 or so years it has become a constant feature. Personally, I don’t even like using the v-word. I’ll just say “puke” or “throw-up”.

David Wilkins

I agree with Kevin and Sol, that the last episode ‘Whitecaps’ should be the single. Episode 9 is a banger, but with ‘Whitecaps’ being the longest of series, and more impactful overall, should be the single, as it would be naturally. The remainder of this season does intensify.

David Wilkins

Hmm, there is a lot to talk about for that episode one for sure but I have to agree with Kevin. Whitecaps is the longest episode in the series at 75 minutes and is a watershed moment in the series so that should get the single episode. I am highly looking forward to both either way :D

Sol95

No. Whitecaps for sure.

Kevin Charley

I would like to recommend this season's single episode reaction should be episode 9. A lot happens so a lot to talk about ;)
