Ooh I like this! I hadn't thought about the animal comparisons for Tony. I'm so nervous for Adriana! -Sam

Funny you cite that one. I find myself saying it a lot. He's got a million of them. IMO, Junior is low key the funniest character on the show.

this episode has a fave corrad-ism of mine: "When? I'm waiting like patience on a monument"

Great throwaway joke in this one is Junior sending Murf out to start the car without his coat, telling him he'll bring it and then Junior goes through Murf's pockets and steals the loose change he finds. God, I love Junior, the greedy, cheap, selfish, old, miserable bastard.

This episode picks up where the season 4 premiere started, and that is the financial tension between Tony and Carmela. Carmela is nervous because she fears that the good times are ending sooner rather than later, and I think Tony does too but is more in denial over it. The final scene with him sitting with the horse and the goat is the first time we see him at peace this season. Like the ducks, he's afraid of losing this horse because he equates animals as pure innocence and he's afraid to lose that. As for the goat, this is an interesting choice as they are usually companions to racehorses, but are also linked to the devil. In the scripture sheep are those that Jesus saves and goats are those that he doesn't save (Gospel of Matthew 25-31). Sheep are those that are saved and goats are those that are condemned, and therefore an extension of the devil. Janice is reading the book "The Origins of Satan" while in bed with Ralphie. Ralphie at this point is evil personified and usually gets compared to the devil himself by analysts of the show. I think Drea de Matteo really gets underrated by viewers of the show. She really comes into her own in this season as Adriana. Pussy as an informant is one thing, but Adriana has always been naive and innocent in a sense. In this episode she starts becoming more and more exposed to La Casa Nostra. It's no coincidence that a big chunk of this episode takes place in the Crazy Horse.

Season 4 starts out with some relatively slow episodes by Sopranos standards, but when you finish the whole show, you realize that they they are laying a lot of groundwork for the second half of S4 and even well into season 6.

Marcus Cato

the red head was the wife of Mikey Palmecie...Juniors number 2 in season one. The guy that Christopher and Paulie killed when Paulie ran into the poison Ivy. His last words to his wife was Go take a Midol.
