Lol So when you started questioning the end of Young Guns 1 about Doc and Chavez, I finally started doing the same (after over 30 years of watching). I've always flip-flopped over the years between the two movies. I always thought it was just my own personal interests. Then I looked up the history. Turns out, Doc and Chavez weren't there for this adventure. Doc was in Texas, not New York. I get it, studio stuff, that's why I've never really questioned it. Tom was actually a year older than Billy and "Arkansas" Dave was "Dirty" Dave. π Getting to the point, I think YG2 should be watched as its own movie. Same for YG1. The first movie is praised as the most accurate version of any Billy the Kid movie made and the second is more of a Hollywood fantasy. And that's fine for a guy like me. I can watch them back to back, get a little annoyed with the differences, but still love the absolute hell out 'em. But maybe that was the studios intention ( plus money ) to have it stand as its own Billy the Kid movie. And maybe that's why I flip on them so much. Because it really is two different movies with some of the same cast. Kind of like Aliens and Near Dark (which has Jenny Wright from YG2).π€ Idk, you two make me think a little deeper and I love the hell out you for it. βΊοΈ

Introduced me to the Pixies, Leonard Cohen (only included in the movie soundtrack for some reason) and Cowboy Junkies.

2023-02-05 02:47:18 +0000 UTCI love this cast! More Emilio Estevez: Stakeout (1987), a great buddy cop/action/comedy/romance with Richard Dreyfuss and a nice supporting cast. More Christian Slater: Pump up the Volume (1990). Don't be put off by the title. It's a fantastic and powerful coming-of-age story, and Christian Slater's favourite thing he's ever done.

I do remember at the time they were really focused on the actual facts of his supposed final days. Also, one thing I did notice this time was Bob Ollinger. I only know that name from the CALL OF JUAREZ: GUNSLINGER game where I had to face off with him. Also, LA BAMBA is a great movie. But if they watch that they'll have to hit up THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. Great double bill. Double Bill? Totally not intended! I guess I'm just a Billy bastard.

2023-02-04 06:08:36 +0000 UTCWhat'd you guys call Hendry William French? Slow draw McGraw or something? I love how they set up Brushy Roberts where you really don't know for sure. They establish there's all these dime store books about Billy the Kid floating around, so you are never given a concrete answer. I don't know if these movies set the trend, but YOUNG GUNS was the first movie where they killed off a major star half way through the flick. Because if he can go then anyone can. And after the ending of the first one, the second one just leaves you all tensed up all the way through. But when Doc got shot in Part 2, man, these movies aren't fucking around. And I love the set up with Pat and Billy's relationship all the way to the end. Also, for a PG-13 movie, this was pretty bloody. I wonder if they greased the wheels at the MPAA to get more youngin's to watch. Anyway, that was the best hour and forty minutes I ever spent. Thanks, guys. #Pals

2023-02-04 00:15:50 +0000 UTCNo, you're absolutely not crazy, TBR! The original one did share endings for Doc and Chavez and it did say Chavez went on to do other stuff that wasn't crime-y. I also have to say I feel you both on being upset about Chavez and Doc not making it. They were easily my favorite characters of the entire cast in both movies, tbh. Also, Doc and Chavez's friendship is just my everything.

Been waiting for this so bad lol My fave Westerns. π "I'll make you famous" Lou Diamond Philips in LA Bamba (1987) True story, great film β---------- Edit: After watching That was fun yall. There are documentaries and videos that put all evidence together that Brushy Bill Robert's was Billy the Kid. New photo age technology was also done and matches up perfectly with Billy and Brushy Bill, not to mention many of his friends confirmed he was Billy. Brushy Bill Roberts also knew very specific details that nobody else would know, like where and how gun fights took place and how the rooms were etc at locations. Very specific stuff in his testimony or interviews. He also had battle scars where Billy should have had them. Also nobody confirmed ever seeing Billy dead or in a casket. That whole 1.80 rifle shot and Billy shooting Bell from top of the steps and escaping all true. Billy really escaped that much as depicted in the film. A big reason New Mexico won't dig up Billy's so called grave for autopsy etc is bc of their tourist dollars. They do not want to lose that tourism if they have to recognize Brushy Bill as being Billy. In Texas where Brushy died. It's also Billy the Kid land, people there claim that's where he is buried and died and has its own little tourism. There might be naysayers to this opinion, but I do believe that was Billy. I've watched so much evidence over the years to believe so. Greatest outlaw of the old west. And lastly, Part 3 is currently under works by Emilio Estevez and the original writer. Great reaction!
