Comments

My favorite scene is the army surplus store, hands down.

Trepid

Agreed

Smooticus

Mystic River and Prisoners, you guys really need to watch them. Trust me, been following from the beginning and I know the type of movie formulas that you love.

James Whalen

Falling Down gets my vote.

Mike the Ginger

Sleepers and Rounders definitely need to be on this list although Rounders isn't a crime movie or much of a thriller, its more of a Drama with crime elements to it. But a seriously good story with some great performances. Sleepers is probably one of the most overlooked and underrated movies from the 90s with a serious all star cast.

Brian Sevilla

American History X is more of a Greek tragedy

Brian Sevilla

Falling Down is the perfect example of a movie that probably couldn't be made in this day and age

Brian Sevilla

And Miller's Crossing!

Neal Romanek

Great movie. One of my favorite later Spielberg films.

Neal Romanek

You'll love Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels - and Brad Pitt's performance is amazing.

Neal Romanek

No argument here. I have a kneejerk dislike of Sean Penn almost every time I see him, but he's SO GOOD in Carlito's Way.

Paul Cox

Man, I do love CARLITO'S WAY.

Philip Davetas

agreed. Not a fan at all and im bothered big time that its winning the polls

Demos Samolis

Carlitos way!!!! You must watch!!! Al Pacinos best character in my opinion and an amazing movie by Brian De Palma!!!

Demos Samolis

im with you on that!!! Carlitos Way was awesome!!

Demos Samolis

Mystic River and Prisoners are amazing movies that people overlook. Sad they’re losing so bad.

James Whalen

Me neither, should have been in Drama. But I don't make the list. Good that it's recommended somewhere though

Smooticus

Damn. AMERICAN HISTORY X. Man, I haven't seen that since it first came out. It's pretty messed up. Even the director tried to get himself Alan Smithee'd over this flick. But I don't know if it was for content for the fact that Edward Norton was throwing his weight around and re-writing scenes. But it's not really so much a crime film. Yeah, crimes are committed, but there is no thriller aspect to it. It's a hard one to watch. Good? I still haven't decided. I just feel there was nothing to learn that I already didn't know. I guess this was more for an audience that is struggling with themselves. I guess today, people who are on the bad side have embraced their negative selves.

Philip Davetas

It’s in a whole other dimension, compared to Point Break.

David Wilkins

Still a good movie

Jason Dolan

We're not talking parables here. We're talking about a movie based on an "autobiography" that has been thoroughly proven false through public court, state, federal, prison and military records by multiple journalists and researchers.

Thomas Yanez

American History X , I would definitely not consider that a crime thriller

Ken Veader

SECONDED!

VivendoBem

Damn, I'm surprised there's not more love for Mystic River. Awesome movie. It deserves more votes. It's better than Point Break, that's for sure.

Michael Chavira

Falling Down .. Lets GO !!!!!

Burt_Fuggin_Reynolds

So many reactions to this movie as well on the internet. If I have to go through that curb stomp one more time, lol. I feel like modern day Neo Nazis think this movie is a positive reflection of their lifestyle which is also a little annoying, like they totally miss the point of this movie, so it's left a bad taste in my mouth as well.

Jason Dolan

Definitely Uncut Gems, Carlito's Way, and Cape Fear. De Niro plays a great villain.

Jeffrey Miller

I had to go for movies I haven't seen for this one. I'm worn out on 'American History X'. It's one of those movies that I thought was profound or "important" when I was younger but not so much anymore. I hope 'Point Break' wins.

Jeffrey Miller

FALLING DOWN is a must see!!

Nick of Time

Ronin is the best movie that most people have *never* seen. Robert DeNiro, Jean Reno, Sean Bean...a fantastic movie.

The One True Chris

No Pacino? Carlito's Way would've been good for this category. Also, Dog Day Afterrnoon, Serpico, And Justice For All... etc., etc.

Mike Tocci

De Niro's menace is more rooted in brute force, but Robert Mitchum's menace comes straight from hell. Definitely check out the original.

Paul Cox

Very few biopics are historically accurate - you have to take them for what they are... Parables

Jason Dolan

... as long as you disregard the idea that it's based on a true story. It's definitely based on a story, just one that's been thoroughly debunked.

Thomas Yanez

I’ve never actually seen the 62 version. But either way, there’s only one Max Cady, and that’s De Niro!

Shehab Dawoud

I'd extremely love a Cape Fear ('62)/Cape Fear ('91) double feature reaction.

Paul Cox

I'm sorry. I'm wrong they haven't seen any of the Underworld franchise.

ATrain 23

Crime: Chinatown, Thief, Carlito's Way, Devil In A Blue Dress, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Training Day, Gone Baby Gone, The Town, The Wolf of Wall Street, Uncut Gems. Thrillers: Vertigo, Body Heat, Blue Velvet, Fatal Attraction, Sea of Love, Cape Fear (soon?), Basic Instinct, Phone Booth, Gone Girl, Get Out.

Shehab Dawoud

I agree Aaron Barlow. I believe Sam hasn't seen any of the movies but Daniel has seen 1 or 2. I'm not sure which ones.

ATrain 23

"Falling Down" is terrific, but I voted for "Mystic River," directed by Clint Eastwood. Great cast, great acting, but an extremely dark story. It might be too hard to handle as a watch-along. But it's a great movie.

William 1611

Does that mean you want it to win or want anything but Prisoners?

Mark M

Oh and please watch 'Dog soldiers' you guys would love it, a nail-biting action/horror similar to 'Aliens' with a supernatural twist.

Aaron Barlow

Clash of the titans 2010 is an excellent fantasy/Greek mythology adventure/action film.

Aaron Barlow

Underworld is a fun series. I like all the films even though one or 2 sequels get a bit of flack.

Aaron Barlow

Damn too many good films to choose, but Falling Down is def my pick

Alec S

Yes!! Great Performance by Michael Douglas

Florian Meier

Personally, I only vote for movies that neither Sam or Daniel have seen. Makes for a better reaction I think

Mr. Chumpus

Falling down is awesome!

Aaron Barlow

Falling Down is a really interesting movie... part thriller, part dark comedy, part character study, part I-still-don't-quite-know-how-to-feel-about-it.. But easily one of Michael Douglas's all-time best performances.

Andrew MacLeod

This is a Great Poll !! Falling Down and Point Break are my personal Favorites !!! For the next Thriller Poll i suggest "Fatal Attraction" from 1987 with Michael Douglas and Glenn Close !!! Really a Classic and a Great Movie to react, Another one is "Basic Instinct" from 1992 with Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone

Florian Meier

Ronin is soooo good! And (arguably) Bobby D's last great leading man role.

VivendoBem

I second Blood in Blood out 🙏

dieselbeast

You've done Godfather, Goodfellas, Scarface, a Bronx tale, thank you btw lol the only one I'm selfishly still hoping you guys will react to sometime this year is Carlitos Way with the man himself Al Pacino! lol it was referenced in tropic thunder lol

dieselbeast

Hey Daniel and Sam, I love yalls reactions. I want to recommend that yall watch the Underworld movie franchise. I believe that yall would like them. They are one of the best vampire and werewolve movies. Thanks and yall have a wonderful evening.😎💯

ATrain 23

Future suggestions : Frantic, Killer Elite, Duplicity, Den of Thieves

Ed R

Very underrated. I don't think a lot of people have seen it. For me, Ronin and Prisoners are the best movies on this list.

Ed R

And it is referenced A LOT in other movies. Too bad they've already seen "Hot Fuzz".

Thomas Yanez

So many really good ones on here!

Mark M

Ronin is one of the first buzzy movies I remember from the early days of the social internet. That was *checks notes* um, 25 years ago, though, so I guess it's stature has diminished a little bit. Not that it should have, because IT HITS.

Paul Cox

Ronin is such a great, underrated film. It will forever leave you wondering what’s the color of the boathouse at Hereford.

oldcdog

Point Break is a super fun classic. Hope that wins, you'll have a great time

Pixie

I have everything crossed for Prisoners winning

Garry L

On the Coens tip, BLOOD SIMPLE would've been a good addition to this poll. Few filmmakers come right out of the gate that strong.

Paul Cox

Snatch (2000)

Robert Sackrider

Oh, my shitting ass god! So many great choices! I picked LOCK/STOCK, and yet there are so MANY great alternatives! I feel like I made the wrong decision.

Philip Davetas

Catch Me If You Can needs to be watched

Jason Dolan

Mystic River is great. By Clint Eastwood. Outstanding cast of Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon, Tim Robbins...Movie stayed in my mind for like a week when I first saw it. Really messed with me. I'd like to recommend the epic.. 1) "Blood In, Blood Out" (1993) considered the latino Godfather.

Jonathan Patrick

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974).

Andrew

I've been waiting for forever to see a channel react to Ronin. Would love it to be this one!
