Reminder to be Kind... Again...

Hey Everyone! As we continue to grow our community, we want to remind everyone to be kind to one another. We understand this is a community of passionate movie lovers, and that’s why we love it! But we cannot tolerate name calling or comments that bring others down because of a difference of opinion on films. Everyone’s opinion on a film that they love is valid. Disagreements on film recommendations must be kept respectful. It's totally okay to not like someone's recommendation, but please don't make it personal. We want everyone here to feel comfortable to make their recommendations.

Additionally, comments have to be kept about films and/or our reactions only. Disagreements that become personal will not be tolerated, please don't make us step in, we just want this to be a fun place.

Thank you & please don’t hesistate to reach out privately if you have any concerns.

-Daniel & Sam

Comments

Fair enough but anyone that votes for movies I don't like is a stinky poopoo head.

Aaron Barlow

I doubt that Simone has anything to do with the hostile comments. I'm inclined to believe that it's George because we got to see more of his personality in his Cinecringe channel. That channel was a train wreck, but he kept it going for about 8 months because he seemed to believe that people would want hear him without Simone talk about how much he hated other movies. He put a lot of time and energy into expressing how much he believed other peoples ideas were stupid to him. Of course that channel failed. Eventually Simone will get tired of George, too, and start here own reaction channel if it hasn't already happened.

Erwin Quiachon

Too funny to hear other people talking about Cinebinge. I was banned by them for sticking up for another member. A couple of their minions were calling another member a racist, etc. One even said that they couldn't wait for them and their kind to die off! I was banned less than a minute after posting my reply to them. Good riddance.

A lot of the reactors I used to subscribe to or still do, but watch less frequently, have become "heightened" versions of themselves on camera. That's less fun to watch imo. The original appeal behind this genre of content was to feel like you're watching movies with friends, not being yelled at with choppy edits like it's a TikTok video. So as time passes, I narrow my bandwidth for first time reactions down to a core few who still seem to candidly enjoy the experience of watching movies (the Schmitts, Popcorn in Bed, Just SUMM Reactions, Movies With Mary, Alanda Parker) instead of putting on a show (Natalie Gold, Cinebinge, Jen Murray, many others). I realize a certain amount of that tonal shift might just be the reactor(s) trying to keep themselves inspired to maintain their channels instead of burning out, but it ain't working. Anyway, long live the Schmitts!

Paul Cox

Another funny, easy, way to get George going with his fake profile in the comments is to start a discussion about Simone starting her reaction channel. From what I remember, that works every time.

Erwin Quiachon

Shan Watches Movies does outstanding, thoughtful, videos. He has a day job, too, and also edits his own videos. So, he only puts out a few each week.

Erwin Quiachon

That’s ridiculous, if you’re going to start a movie reaction channel you should be open to watching just about anything not excluding certain genres. That’s why this channel and PiB are my favorites because of the wide range of films they watch.

Tim Raths

I got fed up and cancelled my subscription to their Patreon. I still had a few weeks left on my subscription after I cancelled and commented about how George doesn't want to react to romantic comedies, despite Simone being a big fan of those movies. George took the bait. He jumped into the comments under an alternate profile to say how much he hates romantic comedies and gave himself away when he mentioned that I shouldn't be commenting anymore because I cancelled my subscription. Only George and Simone would know that I cancelled my subscription and only George would defend avoiding romantic comedies! The funniest part was that we were arguing over why they should react to "When Harry Met Sally"!!

Erwin Quiachon

I used to be a member of that channel but when I voiced opinions, honestly NOT bullying anyone, I was banned. It's a shame cause I liked the people or at least half of them.

Anthony Perez

It's probably more of a cult classic than a hidden gem, but it would really be a terrific reaction film

Jim Frykman

I agree that bullies should never be tolerated by patrons or those responsible fore the Patreon page.

Erwin Quiachon

I'm not sure about that. Yes, I agree you won't "win" the argument, and you won't change the troll's mind, but, for me, that's not the goal of replying. If we let trolls have their say unchallenged, and their bigotry stay unanswered, that hurts people who see no support. I know I have feltcomfort in seeing people push back against hatred in comment sections; it sends the message to the general public that it is not okay. If women and minorities just go silent against "online arguments", we end up just getting driven out of spaces. And only the bullies remain.

Lola Lirola

I shouldn't say. But it rhymes with Cinabinge.

Erwin Quiachon

I find it especially frustrating when people try to make actual arguments to counter a troll who obviously doesn't really want an answer. They think it's like The West Wing where logical arguments are something that people actually care about and change minds.

Jeffrey Miller

Yes, yes and yes

Odd Thomas

This is another reason why you two are the best...

JayWantsACat

Which reaction channel was it?

Armchair Wizard

Just to clarify, the other reaction channel was posing as a fake patron for their own channel, NOT Sam and Daniel!!

Erwin Quiachon

At least Sam and Daniel check the comments to make sure everyone behaves. I've noticed at least one other reaction channel where they seem to pose as a patron in the comment section to insult their own patrons! They tipped themselves off when they sent me a dm asking me not to engage with anyone who was insulting other patrons in the comments after I stood up to them for doing it.

Erwin Quiachon

Can you please add The Game to your list of movies to watch. A great David Fincher film. Also The Social Network and Panic Room two other Fincher films

James

Of course I’m still hoping they’ll get into Lynch by way of Twin Peaks, as I did. @Tim I intentionally left Blue Velvet off the list, as well as Fire Walk With Me and Eraserhead, despite loving them all. I felt throwing TBR headfirst into Mulholland Drive without any familiarity with Lynch was a bit of a misstep and I would rather ease them into his style rather than beat them over the head with it.

Nick of Time

Erwin. They got away with it Alec Baldwin style? They thought it was part of the movie but the actors were never seen again? ;)

Aaron Barlow

@Nick and Blue Velvet

Tim Raths

This is why I usually just avoid the comment section.

Mario

I really hope they give David Lynch another chance sometime soon. The Elephant Man Wild At Heart Lost Highway Any of those would be excellent next Lynch films for them.

Nick of Time

They've already remade Red Dawn and Point Break. I know Channing Tatum is remaking Ghost. Now there's a Roadhouse remake too? Let Patrick Swayze rest in peace!

Paul Cox

Jokes aside, I can't find Wild At Heart streaming anywhere. I was hoping Sam and Daniel hadn't seen it yet so they could react to it and the rest of us could get another warning from them for arguing about it later.

Erwin Quiachon

Almost sounds like a quote from ROADHOUSE. I wonder if that's gonna be in the remake.

Philip Davetas

Man. I just bought a bunch of David Lynch Blurays a couple years back and WILD AT HEART was one of them.

Philip Davetas

The boss of this family says to be nice, you're going to be nice! Seriously though, you should just be chilling and watching movies/shows here. It's like a cozy nook in the internet, keep the negativity outside.

Sol95

You will never win an argument online, period. It's like two dogs barking at each other & will achieve nothing. You won't change each other's perspectives. The best retort is silence.

Odd Thomas

The woodchipper from Tucker & Dale vs. Evil would like a word.

Rue

...AND DIRTY DANCING WAS NOT "JUST A MOVIE"!!!! DIRTY DANCING WILL ALWAYS BE A SYMBOL OF INDIVIDUALITY AND MY BELIEF IN PERSONAL FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erwin Quiachon

The wood chipper in the Irishman was nice and they got away with it in real life.

Erwin Quiachon

OK, WHO WAS IT?!!!! IT WASN'T ME BECAUSE I HAVEN'T STARTED AN ARGUMENT IN OVER TWO MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erwin Quiachon

But only if it's the woodchipper from Fargo. Everything else would be plain wrong and foolish!

Memmo

I agree except that people who like different movies to the ones I like are evil and need to be thrown into a woodchipper. JK

Aaron Barlow

I read somewhere that a comment section is a public iq test :)

24fps_

Yes !! Lethal Weapon 3 !!!

Florian Meier

No idea what happened... but I still appreciate the reminder. Looking forward to Lethal Weapon 3 and The Last of Us!

EdmanXERO

Hi Sam and Daniel. Now that you are finished with Ash vs Evil and are doing Last of us, I also suggest Mayor of Kingstown. 2nd season just started.

Mr. Chumpus

👍🏻👍🏻

James Miley

Dang, I thought this was about the movie Be Kind Rewind

bosho11

thank you for not ignoring that kind of behavior.

Carlos Hurtado

Coz they’re 12 years old 😂

Alex

It’s just immaturity. They aren’t grown up. I remember the whole “if you like what I don’t like it don’t like what I like you suck” thing from when I was 18.

Alex

It's only movie. Why you haav to be so mad

Joel P

I don't understand why people have to get mean about this stuff. Ultimately, they're just movies. If you feel the need to insult others over movie recs or opinions, time for some introspection.

Brandon B.

It's kind of sad you guys have to keep posting this reminder. Hopefully, this will be the last time it's needed.

Donna Castellano

Thank you for that

Yann Laliberté

👏

Jonathan Patrick

I'm real curious!

James Willingham III

Sorry to see you are dealing with people getting a bit heated, but you guys are doing a great job creating an overwhelmingly positive community.

Marcus Cato

The extra effort to keep things civil is appreciated. I've left other Patreon memberships because the comments turned pretty ruthless on the regular.

Paul Cox
