Evil Dead (2013) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

Oh you poor sweet innocent children. My heart goes out to you for watching this.

Guston Zimasheen

Evil Dead (2013) is a great remake/reboot. It basically follows the original but puts a few nice twists to the story. Props to Jane Levy. She was excellent. Please do reactions to Psycho II and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Both are excellent horror sequels. TCM 2 is fairly gory (the special effects were done by the legendary Tom Savini), but nothing compared to the Evil Dead films. Oh, and neither one has vomiting in it!

Robert Boyd

Barely! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Well, yeah, I'd say you're golden on that.

Philip Davetas

@Philip Davetas Well, the intent was to focus on horror, but it's leaked into other genres...

Thomas Yanez

@Nick of Time Yes, but, also, I named it earlier in the thread when Sam asked. Curiously, I just noticed that that response doesn't show up in the thread on my phone, but does show up when I view the same thread on the desktop app.

Thomas Yanez

Ohh Thomas, if you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking, yes! Tell me, does it perhaps involve a couple priests?

Nick of Time

Yay 😊 DMTH is my favorite Sam Raimi movie

Nick of Time

Did you guys watch the part at the end before Ash? You had to have right? I was surprised you didn't put it in the reaction.

Alex

lol Yeah I was a bit worried my self.

PIG

Damn. We are really going down a urination tract. THE GREEN MILE has a pee scene.

Philip Davetas

I'm almost scared to watch this reaction, did you guys survive?

Tostito Buddy

These are all on our list for sure! We have to watch the originals first still :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Definitely! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

That was so rough! It was the tongue for me! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We have not seen Don't Breathe! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

@TBR Schmitt "The Exorcist"

Thomas Yanez

On our list! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Agreed! I think this was a fantastic remake! Excited for Evil Dead Rise! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Which movie?! Ahh Odd Thomas, you're right, completely forgot about that scene in Doctor Sleep! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

We'll keep this in mind! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Literally already had nightmares! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

HAHA! Yeah YT didn't even let this get this posted before limiting the ads LOL -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Agreed! And I think they should see the β€œDead” trilogy first before any remakes.

PIG

I think they should watch the original trilogy first. Classics and og DOTD is my favorite

Ken Veader

I'm no fan of remakes but, I agree, this remake and Ringu's remake is great!

PIG

RANSOM had a haunting scene like that. But it's not a horror flick... unless you're a parent.

Philip Davetas

Love the 2004 Dawn of the Dead; not really a fan of Romero tbh

Odd Thomas

This is one of the best classic horror remakes out there, on par with "The Thing" (1982) and "The Blob" (1988). Not to mention, this was one of the best horror reactions. πŸ‘Œ You two should watch the 2019 remake of "Child's Play" as well. I would recommend the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" (2004) but I'm not sure if you've seen the original "Night of the Living Dead" or "Dawn of the Dead".

Mr. Writhms

It's super creepy, but for very different reasons

Odd Thomas

They watched Doctor Sleep, so they totally have

Odd Thomas

Agreed, The Ring is a superior remake.

Odd Thomas

With all the horror remakes out there, I'd say this and the American remake of Ringu (The Ring) are the best. This one genuinely brings something new to the table; and Jane Levy is spectacular.

Steve Mercier

Jane Levy deserved an Oscar for all the stuff she had to go through in this movie. The only part I literally can't watch is the hand snap at the end.

Odd Thomas

If you guys haven't already seen it, the director also did Don't Breathe with Mia again. Another great movie!

Nonimal

We need Drag Me To Hell next!

Odd Thomas

Yeah, when I heard that, I was kind of shocked they haven't reacted to THAT movie yet.

Jeffrey Miller

I really liked this one! I'm one of the haters that often find it insufferable when remakes, reboots and sequels made long after the original are nothing but fan service nostalgia fests and do very little to make it interesting. I often tell my clients in therapy that "Different doesn't always mean worse," and I personally believe than about many things. I think this film did a good job using the right amount of modern horror sensibilities so it didn't feel like they were trying to be retro nor trying to make sure you know this takes place in the 2010s. I felt they did a good job of having some callbacks, but it not feeling like they're winking at the audience saying, "Hey you remember this about the original, right?" Finally I'm really glad they took the basic premise of Evil Dead, but greatly changed who dies, how, and when so there were actually a couple times that I really didn't know where it was going. Daniel, seeing box cutter: "At least she doesn't have that anymore..." 🀣

Jeffrey Miller

TBR : "I've never seen a horror movie where somebody peed themselves." Me: Hmm... then I know what movie I'm going to be voting for next Halloween. An oldie but a goodie.

Thomas Yanez

I'm so proud of you guys for getting through this. If you ever do video games EVIL DEAD: REGENERATION is seeped in the tone of the movies and shows.

Philip Davetas

Whew that was intense! I think I'll go read some poetry or something to relax a little πŸ˜…

Nismo

This is the unrated cut fyi

Odd Thomas

I believe that for this movie, the difference between the theatrical and unrated is measured in buckets of blood shown on-screen.
