Will D

Boogie Nights is ok but Magnolia is PTA's masterpiece imo

Odd Thomas

I can't wait for yall to meet BROCK LANDERS

Shaun2342!

I've been wanting so badly for them to react to The Insider (1999) with Pacino and Russell Crowe

Jonathan Patrick

Just happened across this episode of a podcast with a Dana Delorenzo interview (Kelly on Ash vs.) and she used to be an Amy Winehouse tribute performer which makes complete sense! https://pca.st/episode/0046d506-d8c1-41e2-b4b2-a8dc28634e98 EDIT: Oops, watch out for spoilers in this interview.

Paul Cox

I'm sitting here like patience on a monument, waiting for the Sopranos episodes to drop!

Marko Horvat

I'd love to see reactions to all those Pacino films, especially Carlito's Way. And they definitely haven't done Scent of a Woman yet, because I'm waiting for it!

Future Boy

@Paul I agree on the accent lol but I do love the movie overall.

Jonathan Patrick

Boogie Nights is a classic, Wahlberg's best performance and Burt Reynolds. Cinematography, camera work, characters, script, all great

Ken Veader

Interview, Color Of Money (though I think they should watch The Hustler first) , Eyes Wide Shut, The Last Samurai are the cream of the cruise crop for me

Ken Veader

Carlito's Way sounds just the ticket (or any of Pacino's great movies for that matter!).

Mike Tocci

More Al Pacino in the new year, please. Many great ones to choose from, just 5 examples from the 70's-90's: 1. Dog Day Afternoon, 2. Serpico, 3. And Justice For All, 4. Donnie Brasco, 5. Carlito's Way. (I think you guys already did Scarface and Scent of a Woman... and of course, The Godfather videos were awesome too.) These along with more Dirty Harry would be a great kick off to the New Year! Merry Christmas!

Mike Tocci

Yes Boogie Nights! One of my top 5 favorite films! A cinematic treat.

daron85

I wonder how much of that is because it's probably a pain to get a good YouTube edit with the subject matter and the amazing soundtrack always playing.

Jeffrey Miller

When it comes to these questions I think either side can have a valid argument and it's not a right or wrong discussion. I've read some stuff on what autistic people think of the movie and there are a wide array of opinions which would make sense because it's a large and diverse community who experience autism in different ways. I think it's a good movie and it was made with good intentions, but I do think there's a discussion to be had about some of the negative feelings towards it.

Jeffrey Miller

Gotta be Magnolia and then Punch-Drunk Love in 3rd

mikethemotormouth

Just wondering.. what's your 1st??

PastaDon

Funny?? I don't think it's showing that at all..

PastaDon

No Gabbagool tonight?

Ghost Crusaders

When can we expect The Sopranos?

David Murray

That would be legendary!

Marcus Cato

Boogie Nights, that's a good one that nobody ever reacts to.

Eric Denney

The Irish accent is notoriously hard to master, but it's like Cruise didn't even try in Far and Away. He watched a Lucky Charms commercial and said "close enough."

Paul Cox

Magnolia is my favourite on this list. I'll also add Eyes Wide Shut, The Color of Money, and The Firm.

Future Boy

There are a few misundestandings about autism written into Rain Main that wouldn't be included if the film were made today, but I don't think Hoffman's character is ever depicted as a clown or anything of the sort. And considering how much immersion Hoffman put into prep for the role, I know he personally never treated his portrayal with anything but the utmost respect.

Paul Cox

I never liked Rain Man, the 'hey isn't autism funny' movie

Odd Thomas

Now we're talking! Time for the PTA filmography.

BD Williams

If the intro to their Rain Man reaction is Daniel&Sam all suited and booted coming down an escalator, then it will be the biggest flex in movie reaction channel history

Duncan

Yoo Rain Man AND my 2nd favorite PTA? Merry Christmas to me!

mikethemotormouth

it has been rumored that TBR was actually the writer/directors first choice to be cast as Dirk Diggler, but he had to turn it down at the time,as he was too busy editing for the channel

Duncan

Tom Cruise greats (Posting most of his dramatic roles) Cocktail (1988) Born on the 4th of July (1989) Far and Away (1992) Interview with A Vampire (1994) Jerry Maguire (1996) Magnolia (1999 - Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson) Vanilla Sky (2001) The Last Samurai (2003) War of the World's (2005)

Jonathan Patrick

Yes !!! Rain Man is Such a Great Classic !!! Dustin Hoffmann in his Oscar Role!!! Perfect Film!!! You will love it !! Hope you Dive next year more into Dustin Hoffmann films like "Kramer vs Kramer" .... Great Actor

Florian Meier

Classic Cruise🤘

ShadowVessel π

Totally get it. I've seen every PTA film except for 'The Master,' and there are some I'm thrilled to rewatch and others where once was definitely enough. (Boogie Nights is the former.)

Paul Cox

I was 21 when I saw this movie (in 97). I didn't think I was going to like it, based on the subject matter. It surprised me how invested I got into the characters. The main subject matter just fell into the background for the most part. I've only seen it one other time, like a year later. I'll probably rewatch with the Schmitts and see if I feel any differently about any of it as a 46 year old.

Donna Castellano

Ok, yeah, the 90s was my decade, and The Rock and Armageddon are awesome, but Pauly Shore is borderline insulting, Paul! Haha, there's an irony in the fact that Mark Wahlberg ended up starring in a couple of Bay's mixtapes. Sad, actually! I will give Boogie Nights another go before I watch this reaction to it. It's been 25 years. I will admit, there are some directors whom I respect as masters of their craft more than I am entertained by them. Paul Thomas Anderson is one of them. I totally believe that There Will Be Blood was an Oscar worthy film, and respect it, but it's one I can't see myself rewatching very often, if that makes sense? But yeah, like I said, 25 years is plenty of time to try a film again

John Sutherland

My guess is that it's too heavy on the character study for a teen viewer in the 90s to grasp, fighting for eyeballs at the theater with Pauly Shore movies and the explosion mixtapes Michael Bay was making. You should definitely give it another go as an adult.

Paul Cox

What is it about Boogie Nights that makes it so good? I ask because I saw it when it came out, I was 17 or 18, and it just wasn't my cup of tea, but I was young. Maybe a rewatch now that I'm older, and my views/tastes have changed and adapted? Avoid spoilers for Daniel and Samantha, obviously!

John Sutherland

Boogie Nights? YES. It’s absolutely unique. You might have to lose a bit of audio in the YouTube cut, but the soundtrack is fantastic. I think the only other P.T. Anderson movie you’ve done so far is ‘There Will Be Blood’. Anderson is the real deal.

David Wilkins

Looks great! "Rain Man" will break your hearts, in a good way. "Boogie Nights" is the movie that convinced me that Burt Reynolds is actually an ACTOR, and not just a half-assed movie star (no offense meant to half-assed movie stars!).

William 1611

Wow. I am insanely excited for this week's selection. Rain Man is good, but Boogie Nights is a masterpiece.

Jen Barnes

As other have mentioned, Boogie Nights is one of the best movies of all time! Bold statement, but prove me wrong…🤷‍♂️

JG

Looks like another great week! Boogie Nights will be a real treat. And Sopranos will only get better!

David Crabtree

When are you guys going to react to Dog soldiers?

Aaron Barlow

Boogie Nights! I still can't believe Paul Thomas Anderson was able to get this made in his mid-20s. It was only his second movie, and to be able to pull off such a masterpiece with an impeccable cast... not to mention the subject matter... wow. That is some Dirk Diggler energy, right there.

Mike Miner

Probably the only time you'll see those two things in the same sentence and it be positive.

Jeffrey Miller

YES! Boogie Nights is easily one of my top 10 films of all time. It's so good and I'm sure you two will really like it!

Jeffrey Miller

Sam, TBR Schmitt let's you watch this stuff? BOOGIE NIGHTS?

Philip Davetas

One day next year hopefully we get either troy, Carlitos way and/or over the top 🤷😁 looking forward to more sopranos 🇮🇹🍝

dieselbeast

THERE'S MAGIC ON THOSE TAPES, MAN!!!

Tostito Buddy

Two good ones! When are you guys getting to TOP GUN and TOP GUN MAVERICK? Lol

Jason Dolan

Sister Christian Jessie's Girl 99 Luftballoons

Ellie Miller

Boogie Nights for New Year's Eve? Perfect!

Paul Cox

Rain Man and Boogie Nights? OH YES!! Along with the Sopranos, this is going to be a fun week!!!

Joe Lazarus

RAIN MAN LETS GOOOOO
