Great comment, man. Carmela takes her religion very seriously. I think her desire to be a better person is genuine. I always found her sympathetic, even when she isn't in the right.

Sal's a piece of shit and Carmela is projecting but that doesn't mean she's wrong. Also, Sal USED to be a better, not good husband, but better, but once the feds snatched him his entire life is consumed with fear of being found out. Giving up in marriage is EASY. Sticking it out is hard. Plus, this it's the mob life, speaking from experience it's a completely different life built on tradition + they're Italian

In fact, ,traditionally, the Brunos were the only other family beside the 5 families of NYC to have a seat on the national commission. In addition to eastern PA and Delaware, they controlled all of South Jersey including AC. But then in Angelo Bruno got zipped in the back of his car and it slowly and violently went to pieces, hopefully for good.

He was just a stupid guy who wasnt reading the situation. Their are obviously mob guys in delaware/philly but not nearly the scene in new york and north jersey.

Tony practically forgave him for trying to kill him, I think if Junior tried something again he'd be gone quick. Also, by now Tony has the loyalty of most of the family so even if Junior did have Tony killed, he'd be taking over a family that hated him. I'm with Sam. Carmela's friend group sucks. If my friend opened up to me about that kind of stuff I'd assume it was told to me in confidence. Carmela was also a bad friend when she kept haranguing Angie about leaving Sal. She's obviously had times when she really questioned her marriage to tony and she was just projecting her justifications onto Angie. I'm a mental health counselor so when Dr. Melfi started chatting it up with Tony, I was like "What the hell are you doing?!"

2022-10-25 03:06:50 +0000 UTCThis is such a great episode to highlight the difference between Italians and Italian Americans (and how most Italians in Italy regard Italian Americans as classless buffoons). In the USA Tony and crew think of themselves as Italian, but in Italy, boy do they realize they’re American. What a nice touch to show Paulie so disillusioned when he got to Italy, but by the end convinces himself that he had a great time. When I was a really little kid, I used to spend afternoons after school with my great grandparents who were off the boat Calabrese. And every two weeks my bisnonno would take me for a haircut and then afterwards demand the barber give us my hair clippings. The barbers (who were Italian American, a few generations removed from the Other Side) used to look at him like he was a lunatic and I would get so embarrassed. Don’t even get me started on my bisnonna and the maloik/malocchio.. Like I said, Italians vs Italian Americans. Oh, and macaroni and gravy is what many Italian Americans from the Northeast call any variety of pasta with meat sauce. Ironically, it’s very ‘Merigan to say pasta or sauce.

2022-10-24 20:55:37 +0000 UTCAnother great couple of episodes, and I’ve already watched both full reactions. I had forgotten how “full” these two episodes are. As you mentioned: a lot of moving pieces. And in relation to The Sopranos, that’s not a bad thing. I’ve mentioned before, the way this program beautifully utilizes new and intermittent characters, and episode 3 is another example, with Dr. Melfi’s check-up psychiatrist. He’s played by the great Peter Bogdanovich, director, film historian, and former confidante of Orson Welles. Such a smart and skillful touch to bring him in, even as a minor character. I’m already looking forward to the next two episodes!
