REMINDER from our Post Last Year:

Another Western Poll, another reminder to please be kind! 😊

REMINDER from our Post Last Year:

Comments

Lol, I know it's 3 weeks late but I've been gone for a while. Sorry, but I had to comment when I saw this. The problem with PiB, and I can finally say this since I'm no longer there, is that a big part of that community are a bunch of Cassie-sycophants who worship her. You can't ever critique a decision she makes, you can't suggest a movie that's on the rougher side or they'll come to her aid like white knights. And the saddest thing is that quite a few of them are 40-60-year-old men... I like Cassie but that is one place I won't be looking to go back to.

Shehab Dawoud

I just thought of this. For your next Western poll, might I suggest Walter Hill's THE LONG RIDERS.

Philip Davetas

I've never even heard of it.

Alex

Haven't seen it, but on a related theme of Western Comedies, there's a film I'm going to watch called "Trinity Is Still My Name" (1971), which also stars Terrence Hill, and teams him up again with Bud Spencer. Was a fan of their movies growing up.

Guston Zimasheen

A western comedy that would NEVER win a poll cuz nobody has heard of it but is a great movie is My Name Is Nobody. I don’t know why I’m even saying this except that if anybody HAS seen it, I’ll be impressed 🤣🫡

Jeremy Garner

The Big Rod Schmitt.

Donna Castellano

Hey now....as a fellow casein hound, I will NOT tolerate anyone shaming Daniel for his milk hunger . DO not milk shame please. I for one am quite fond of a tall glass of ice cold milk.

Anthony Perez

I was thinking this the other day. That I was so glad someone wasn't doing Marvel, Star Wars, etc. I like most of that stuff but it's good to have a reaction channel doing the wide variety of stuff Sam and Daniel do. Like I've never seen a reaction to Copland before. Then a few other films they've done which others have, the others' commentary was either non-existent or didn't amount to much.

Donna Castellano

@William 1611 The Summerlins (Just SUMM Reactions) are fun too, though some of the films they watch are plain trash. They make it fun to jokewatch/hatewatch those, though, which is a talent.

Paul Cox

The answer is definitely more westerns. If we had a western poll monthly, the outcome of any one poll might not produce such contention. :-)

CluckingBell

My apologies, I was a culprit! Apologies to all.

Tic Toc Melody

Green Room was excellent. That's a great rec for these two!

Trepanation21

Do you mean Jewish dog owners? ;)

Aaron Barlow

I’ll second Green Room. That movie is a wild ride.

Christopher B.

How I vote in polls: I look at all the choices offered and decide which ones I would enjoy watching Daniel and Sam react to. Then I vote. The winner might be different than my preference and maybe I'll get to see something I never knew I'd like.

Jen Barnes

For a horror film I'll recommend 'Green Room' (2015). It's a great horror/thriller. I'd say it's closest to a slasher if you go by type of violence in it. Basically a punk rock band plays a show at a neo-Nazi club. They see something they shouldn't have seen and they have to escape. It stars Anton Yelchin in what might be his last film that was released before his untimely death. Also a very famous and beloved actor plays the main villain. Seriously, I didn't expect this guy to be in the movie.

Jeffrey Miller

We're still allowed to make fun of Daniel for drinking milk, though...right? ;)

Brandon B.

To be honest, I would have voted for it as well if I weren't trying to push my agenda of "Butch and Sundance" and "Josey Wales".

Dee Aitch

@Tim Raths Or if the reactor misunderstands or misses some minute detail then they get all butthurt and attack the reactor for not understanding every detail on first watch. It's just so ridiculous how some people behave. It's literally people watching movies. It's not a big deal.

Brandon B.

LOL we are fair game! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thanks, JJ! I'll definitely check it out! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL same -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thomas hahah -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Aww! I also think this is the best Patreon community! <3 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I take it this is aimed at Dog Soldiers in particular, with their wet dog smell and their elongated nose? jk

Guston Zimasheen

From me mainly. No one ever votes for it which is a crime.

Aaron Barlow

If you don't agree with my film recommendations then your face is stupid and your feet smell.

Aaron Barlow

Can i still call people yellow-bellied bastards?

Carlos Hurtado

Very well said. I've always liked PiB, although I'm no longer a patron. On a positive note: I've only recently discovered Jenn Murray's channel, and she's charming. However, I think the boy-and-girl approach is best, like TBR or Cinebinge.

William 1611

It seems this happens with the 'Westerns' polls. It's similar to horror in that way. The genres have evolved so much since their early days that there is often resistance to include outliers and it seems to create camps. 'The Proposition' (2005) is a favorite western of mine, but I've heard plenty of arguments that it isn't a western. You handled it well. Edit: I keep seeing Dog Soldiers pop up in the comments. Really fun and underrated movie.

Entape

Just watching the Sopranos season 2 reactions, have to add Sam record scratching like eight hours too early

Tostito Buddy

Dog Soldiers is pretty awesome. The Descent (same director, totally different style) is also a sweet horror pic.

Steven Montano

We can still make fun of you guys though, right? Like dan's blood lust or sam's shrieking at ash vs evil dead? Anyway my two cents on a recommendation is just echoing someone's comment, maybe in the horror poll, to watch Dog Soldiers. You guys liked Predator and Aliens, it's a good military squad supernatural movie.

Tostito Buddy

Well, google told me it means "To be read", so I've just been assuming that he's an avid book reader :)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

@Mario Or when the reactor does watch their favorite movie, they get bent out of shape because the reactor didn’t like the movie.

Tim Raths

@Tim Raths Indeed

Paul Cox

I mentioned this elsewhere but feel so shocked it never occured to me that I’m making special mention again: “Lonesome Dove” is a western miniseries from 1989 which many credit with making studios willing to take a chance on Western films again. It won tons of awards, as a series and prior to that as a book.

Warren H

Hey, Paul is your avatar from Vertigo?

Tim Raths

@Jeffrey Miller PREACH!

Paul Cox

One thing I really appreciate about this channel is they don't do Star Wars and MCU movies. It's not just the fandoms that can be annoying at times, it's also that they've been covered to death and takes time from movies people may have not seen or might provide a much more interesting reaction.

Jeffrey Miller

Hi Sam, may I recommend another site for your online sources? theyshootpictures.com compiled thousands of lists to create a 1000 greatest films list. It's a great site, you may get more ideas for titles there. You can see from sorting through their lists that John Ford is pretty much considered the greatest western director of all time(I see The Searchers hasn't fared great in your polls - it is the #9 ranked film of all time on that site). And as others have said My Darling Clementine, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and Stagecoach are some other highly regarded John Ford westerns, on par with the Searchers. I get most of your audience leans towards 80s/90s fare, but the western's heyday was the 30s/40s/50s/60s so it would be a shame if you didn't get exposed to more westerns from that time period. Even if you can't react to them I hope you can see them on your own at some point. And as others have said, please don't watch Magnificent Seven before Seven Samurai(#10 on the TSP list)

Birdie Num Num

From the comments I've see on other Patreon pages, you would think their lives depended on whether their movies were reacted to or not.

Mario

👍

PIG

The Batman 89 debacle in the PiB community was a shameful disgrace to see unfold; made me feel ashamed by proxy simply for being part of a community where some others thought it was okay to be mean and bitter over disagreements about a Batman movie of all things. The internet was supposed to unite us, not divide us further ☹️

Christopher B.

From what I've seen on other Patreon pages, people tend to be passionate about really old movies from like the 50s - 60s as well.

Mario

Wouldn't it be our SamDanDependence Day? 🤣

Jason Dolan

I was just thinking that.

Alex

If you love someone never tell them to run for political office or worse, get the job. lol

Alex

I have to agree. I joined another Patreon reaction page because I love this one guy's commentary on Cobra Kai, but I quit after season 5 Cobra Kai coz just have no interest in the other stuff, and they don't have a community like here.

Alex

It's funny how heightened emotions can make people really unable to accept reality as it is and just read things in really bizarre ways. I've had people on Facebook that completely agree with all my values just like making fun of me, calling me a snowflake/millennial and it's like "but we agree on everything else bro". And it's happened to me too. Your mind can really mess with you. Just the other day I was looking at something I can't remember what it was but it was a number right. A digit. It was blurry and then it focused into a 1. but then when I got close I noticed it was actually a 0. My brain literally filled in the blurry zero with a 1. It's just crazy how the mind works. I think part of the problem is that this all text and there's no sub communication at all and so usually whatever you believe other people say/do is what you project onto whatever you're reading. The rule I follow on here now is no politics/religion. I also follow this on Instagram and Facebook.. coz I feel like FB has become way too political and it really should be SOCIAL media so like.. hanging around friends and keeping them updated on your life. But generally I will state my opinion and I won't argue with people. Most of the time people on line can't read disagreements accurately. Another thing I've realized is a lot of times no matter what happens nothing negative or anything is actually ever about the person I'm talking to but it's about what they said. No matter what happens I don't really hate the person coz it's not the person that upset me it's what they said. But the more it goes back and forth the more it just gets out of control. There's so many things. So I'm into Jeeps and with Jeeps there's a couple polarizing things... The angry Jeep grilles, and ducking (people putting rubber ducks on others' Jeeps) and it's like.. the first obvious is the crusade between the people that love it and the people that hate it, the second is an eternal struggle to convince the other person on the statement on their masculinity or whether they're "a real Jeep owner" based on them "playing with rubber bath toys." I have my opinions and I don't get heated it's like.. I could care less which one you like but either way getting angry about it is kind of silly. And then people attack me about saying that LOL. Unless you're totally agreeing with someone seems like you can't win these days. but I think it's all comes back to it being text. No vocal intonation, no subtext.

Alex

There's been a few times when I'd make a comment with some criticisms of the film, but decided not to post it or quickly delete it because I was afraid someone would get upset about it. I like to be critical of films even if I enjoy them a lot. I think everyone just talking about how great something is boring, and I think it's interesting to explore what we like and what we don't like. I've always tried to be respectful when I expressed my criticisms, but some people can't help but feel attacked when someone doesn't feel the same about their preferred media. I got accused of being "woke" a couple times and I know one thread was deleted, but now I mostly avoid any real critical takes, even when they wouldn't be "considered" woke because I don't want to deal with people getting bent out of shape because they think that because I'm critical of something means I'm critical of them.

Jeffrey Miller

I appreciate your message and understand your situation, but wow . . . what a sad state of affairs! I guess it's to be expected, though: Y'all are the most mature and sensitive reactors on YouTube, so naturally the weenies and ridge-runners aren't gonna appreciate you. But WE do! Hang in!

William 1611

The Best Reactions 🤔😅

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Meanwhile, I'm just over here still trying to figure out what TBR actually means. XD

EdmanXERO

I hate that you all have to post things like this and deal with drama. I guess that it probably comes with YouTube territory, but I can only imagine the types of things you guys have to shut down from time to time.

Shaun2342!

I would normally agree with this sentiment, but it appears that "Young Guns" is winning and some things simply cannot be tolerated. :)

Thomas Yanez

I'm more interested to know what the disagreement in question was about rather than on whose channel

mikethemotormouth

“We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We’re going to live on. We’re going to survive, Today we celebrate our Dan and Sam Day"

Duncan

This group stays mostly well behaved because the channel hasn't catered very much to the various fandoms out there (Star Wars, MCU, etc etc). Knowing that there's not gonna be much of that stuff here, if any, kind of keeps up a firewall against many of the rowdiest or most territorial patrons/commenters. And I'm so thankful for it!

Paul Cox

Dan and Sam for president!

Jason Dolan

@Forrest: Yep :)

PIG

Prefer not to say, don't want to be negative about any other site. Just glad that TBR has addressed the situation and hopefully the angry people will go to the angry channels.

Beau Mont

Unfortunately I think a lot of people turn everything into politics now adays. Lol

Forrest

This is by far the best Patreon community I've come across. There are some true horrors out there on other channels. I've seen some of those other channels, good ones, destroyed by their communities.

Future Boy

PiB?

Tim Raths

I’ll never understand how people get butt hurt over movie suggestions. It’s literally movies not politics lol

Richard

If you think they’re bad here, you should see the patrons over on the Popcorn in Bed page. They’re a lot worse over there.

Tim Raths

Great statement ... so unfortunate that you had to write it. To all patrons Sam & Daniel have built an awesome community through their lovely reactions to our favourite movies and tv series on YT. But it us up to us to maintain that community.

Jens Pfennig

Thank you for this! Some people forget that all movies are subjective and everyone has different tastes and opinions.

David Crabtree

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Stephanie

Thank you for this statement. I left a very popular reaction site that I really enjoyed but she had a hard core group of fans that were so nasty if you disagreed with them.

Beau Mont

I wish people realized it's okay to like something that someone else doesn't like or not like something that someone else likes.

Alex

Uh oh... Who done it!?
