COMING SOON!

Hi all! Having some technical difficulties with YT edit for Scream 2. We were trying to hold off to keep things in order, but figured it would be better to just keep moving and Scream 2 YT edit should be up no later than tomorrow!

COMING SOON!

Comments

Reading this, I just noticed a weird knee-jerk reaction: I don't feel that way about Rosemary's Baby, but I DO feel that way about The Pianist. Which I have seen, and yes, it's good, but it freaks me out they gave him a best director award for it after it all came down. Not saying that's fair or logical, just sharing.

I don't care if his family went to Auchwitz , means nothing to me and doesn't change the fact he raped a minor and probably wasn't the only time either, just the only one he got charged for

Ken Veader

I'm in the pro-2016 camp. Ghostbusters is, for me, what Star Wars is to a lot of people. My literal first memory is a Ghostbusters related memory. I'll see as many of these movies as they make while I'm alive. So, obviously, I liked Ghostbusters: Afterlife -- but I also definitely think there are serious problems with it, and that while the good things were probably better, in the end I found the 2016 movie to be more consistent in a way that brings it out on top for me (the difference between a B- all the way through and a movie that wildly veers between an A and a D).

Much of this above comment is untrue, sorry to say. Polanski has three other women accusing him of rape, two of which were also underage and one of whom says she was 10 at the time. I believe it is true and important not to bother Geimer, but she has only been saying to leave him alone somewhat recently, starting in the late 2000s. In the 90s, she was still suing him for sexual assault. To be clear: not meant to dictate how you behave regarding his movies (people should choose whatever level of engagement they want), but important to have the facts straight.

Tyler Foster

Oh and heads up on the dream sequence: the captain of the ship is supposed to be JFK and the woman walking down the stairs is supposed to be Jackie O. He was the first Catholic president of the United States.

Robert Boyd

I've seen all the films you mentioned, and yes Knife in the Water is amazing. Also loved his Macbeth.

I generally separate the art from the artist, but with Rosemary's Baby, I can't get myself to revisit that movie knowing what a vile rapist Roman Polanski is, and how he fled the country to avoid justice. And yet he is still unsurprisingly celebrated by a degenerate Hollywood cesspool culture.

David Crabtree

I thought it was a total misfire. Felt like a bunch of unfunny SNL sketches stitched together. I'm glad they're not watching it as part of the real Ghostbusters movie series, but I think they should definitely go back and watch the 2016 "version" so they can truly appreciate what we got with Afterlife.

David Crabtree

Yup. He did his time. Then the publicity-loving judge wanted to sentence him for a second time. THAT'S when he fled the county, and that's why no country will extradite him. The girl has been forced to deal with this constantly for all these years, to the point that she periodically makes pleas to leave him alone. The guy did his time, he never did it again, never had done it in the past.....and who knows what a cocktail of losing your wife and unborn child to the Manson family, your entire family to Auschwitz and the hedonistic sex-drugs-rock&roll lifestyle of the 70s (that was being practiced as much by the under 18-crowd as it was over-18) does to a person's head. I myself put a guy in jail when I was a kid for this kind of thing - I went through the whole process. The worst part was not enduring the act itself but having to testify in front of a Grand Jury, and talk to detectives and lawyers and you just want it to go away. This poor girl. She can never live it down. They've forced her to be in contact with him!

Tic Toc Melody

I'm so excited to start on season 2 of The Sopranos with you. I'm very grateful you went right into it without a break! I'm also excited for Rosemary's Baby this week. I read the book a long time ago, and loved it, but I've somehow never seen the film. Looking forward to fixing that this week!

Future Boy

I liked it for what it was. It just suffered from a bad script and inefficient story telling

Smooticus

Ooooh, Rosemary's Baby! Once Upon a Time in Hollywood got you curious about Polanski, eh? ;)

Smooticus

It was good - didn't suck. Bur my expectations have lowered somewhat when it comes to reboots and sequels that are made 20 years after the last movie

Smooticus

Shame you skipped Ghostbusters 2016. It gets a lot of hate but is actually funny af.

Odd Thomas

I cannot wait for the "Rosemary's Baby" reaction. Sam is going to go THROUGH THE ROOF. My guess: we have NEVER seen Sam so pissed off. Daniel is going to touch her arm and she's going to snap "Get your hands off me!" :D

Tic Toc Melody

Obviously you've never seen "Knife In The Water" (amazing), "Repulsion" (excellent), 'Cul De Sac" or "The Pianist". But yeah, "Rosemary's Baby" and " Chinatown" are two of his greatest. And as far as him being a creep, well then it's good his whole immediate family was sent to Auschwitz, and his 8-month pregnant wife was murdered by the Manson family. It's funny what people choose to remember about a person, lol.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife! So excited! I need to go back and rewatch your reactions to the first 2!

David Crabtree

Rosemary’s Baby is a masterpiece. I think it’s one of the few movies that follows its source novel completely. Mia Farrow and Ruth Gordon are absolutely stunning in their portrayals.

Robert Boyd

Hey Rosemary's Baby is a Great Choice !!! Absolutly a Classic Polanski !! You also have to Watch "Chinatown" from Roman Polanski with Jack Nicholson !!! One of the Greatest Movies in the 70's !!!

Florian Meier

Also glad to see Rosemary's Baby coming up. I've probably seen it dozens of times, at least once a year for who know how long (I'm about as old as the movie is) and I wish I could see it for the for the first time again. One of the great things about these reaction videos is to try to do that in a way. Other Polanski films to check out are Chinatown (as mentioned above), The Pianist (for which he won an Oscar), and Death and the Maiden . Some lesser Polanski films I like are The Ninth Gate and Frantic .Not everyone likes those two and they didn't get great reviews but he brings his unique style to what would otherwise be conventional movies. He also made a version of Macbeth, which is pretty dark, particularly seeing as it was made after the Manson murders. And yeah, Polanski did a pretty vile (and yes criminal) thing but as David says above, separate the art from the artist. Considering there are other artists who have done far worse (like Weinstein and Cosby), that his victim has more or less forgiven him, I don't overlook what he's done or forgive it , but I can watch and enjoy his movies without guilt since he is one of the truly great directors.

Samolina Pilchard

Great stuff! More Sopranos, and Rosemary’s Baby. I’m pumped! Now I would like to comment about Polanski, not knowing how familiar you are with the history. But I’m an old guy who’s been around for all of it. Hopefully you won’t get harsh words, and if you do, try to ignore them. I’m one who has always separated art from artist. Some of the most truly horrible and criminal vermin have spotless public reputations, and it’s their brutal ruthlessness that keeps their image spotless. But Polanski is one of the truly great directors, and I hope you’ll explore more as time passes.

David Wilkins

I thought it was OK though I did feel the nostalgia was a bit too heavy-handed

mikethemotormouth

Wasn't a fan of Ghostbusters afterlife at all but alot of people seemed to enjoy it for the nostalgia

Ken Veader

Only two great films that creep made but I'm glad they are checking it out

Ken Veader

Nice that you made the decision to watch Rosemary's Baby despite its poor performance in polls. Hopefully Chinatown(another Polanski) will also be picked at some point.

Birdie Num Num

Love Ghostbusters Afterlife. Been waiting for that one🤘
