Child's Play (1988) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Child's Play (1988) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

I went to a convention a few years ago to meet a bunch of the Child's Play cast and crew, including creator Don Mancini, who wrote every movie and is now the showrunner on the "Chucky" TV series. Alex Vincent reassured everyone that the events of the movie weren't traumatizing for him, in the sense that whenever he worked with Chucky there were 15 puppeteers and technicians to operate the doll, and he found it fascinating (although, having watched the extras on the new 2022 4K UHD edition of the movie, it sounds like director Tom Holland may have traumatized some cast and crew members). I think you'll have real fun if you progress through the series, especially once you get to Bride of Chucky and beyond, where the series really starts to develop its current unique personality. Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if you two became fans of Chucky in almost exactly the same way you've become fans of Ash, what with their shared movie-into-TV-show trajectory.

Since Daniel hates dolls I suggest the Canadian movie called Pin.

Mark M

Yeah I think they should watch off the Halloweens, Friday the 13th, Child's Plays, etc.

Alex

If Daniel hates spiders he would hate my house, because you can't leave anything unchecked for more than 2 days without spiders building a web there. I recently bought a new pair of boots and I bought these boot zipper bags for my boots because the boots that I haven't worn in a while all have cobwebs in them. Doesn't matter where I store them either.

Alex

I just looked up Wikipedia for Catherine Hicks who played Karen Barclay in Child's Play, and she married Kevin Yagher, who designed and operated the Chucky doll. I love those kinds of connections of useless trivia.

The toy hammer had a real hammerhead. As an 80's and 90's kid, I can attest that a "toy" hammer, was just a kid-size real hammer lol lol lol it was great. And the thing with the cop getting knocked out is that Chucky's getting stronger. The more he becomes human the more he can manly like strength. PLEASE WATCH ALL OF THEM, very similar to the Rocky series the sequels are good then wear out then come back with a bang with the latest two, part 6 and 7

Dominic Matich

I would've never connected the two if you hadn't said that.

Forrest

The guy who played/voiced Chucky (and in all the other movies) is Wormtongue from LOTR Two Towers.

Mike Adams

Super enjoyed watching this with you both! xD I was cracking up a few times throughout.. TBR's fear was definitely the highlight! This may not be my favorite horror flick but it's totally up there. My favorite has to be IT. Not the new one though.. the classic version. It's dated beyond words but it's stupid scary for anybody that watched it as a kid. ((I first watched the movie when I was ~6 or so, THANKS MOM!! :P)) Anyway though, it's my favorite for that reason. If for some reason you both watch IT, please check the original version out first.

It's pretty good, I reccomend

Mr. Chumpus

Syfy channel brought back Chucky in a tv series last year and season 2 just started. It is really fun. It is cgi now, and they bring back some of the original actors

Mr. Chumpus

I was pretty surprised also when you mentioned fire. I was thinking has he seen this movie. But yeah you see how well that worked.

Anakin Starkiller

When Chucky says.... You stupid b#$&, that's pretty much where Child's Play starts. Yes there are quite a few Childs Play films and Chucky talks quite a bit in those films but I always remember his first line as Chucky. It's not an iconic scene but it's effective enough where you don't forget it.

Anakin Starkiller

Chucky [death rattle]: "Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna [voice switch] PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY?" Me at 11: "Aaaaand I'm gonna have nightmares forever now. Thanks so much." That was a great reaction! The Chucky series is a B-I-G mixed bag of awesomeness and cringe-y disappointment. Personally, I'd suggest you move on to something else (or skip to number 6!)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Believe it or not, this movie was inspired by a true story. Just look up "Robert the Doll." It was basically a doll given to a boy who would talk to the doll in his room just like Andy. And his parents would walk by and wonder who the boy was talking to. And just like in the movie, whenever something happened in the house, the boy would say, "I didn't do it, Robert did it." It's pretty spooky, but I'd say definitely finish watching the franchise.

Richard

Your friend was messing up my tanks and my whales.

Jason Dolan

Wait until they watch FRIGHT NIGHT! And DOG DAY AFTERNOON!

Jason Dolan

Anyone else recognise the mother from Star Trek IV?

Odd Thomas

Aww well sounds like we have a good few left in the franchise to watch then, yay! Thank you! Haha no cops were called in the making of this reaction :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haha thank you, Guston! We have not seen Fright Night yet :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL I think Daniel needs a breather after this one -Sam

TBR Schmitt

OMG I have to now hahaha I'll wait a few weeks so he doesn't suspect it ;) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

TBR Schmitt

TBR Schmitt

Good idea! Hopefully it'll finish soon or Daniel can re-upload when he gets home :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Haven't seen it yet, sorry. I want to, having heard some good things, but I still need to catch up in the movies.

Thomas Yanez

Is the show good? I've been wondering if I should watch it.

Armchair Rizzard

The TV show "Chucky", which is still running (second season just started up this month) is a continuation of the movie series, starting from the movie "Cult of Chucky" which is deep in the sequels (I don't remember, but like fifth or sixth sequel)).

Thomas Yanez

I've been a fan of the Child's Play movies since the first one and watched up until Bride of Chucky and can confirm, they're all great fun up to that point. And I know other folks have said that the rest of the films in the original franchise are pretty decent as well. They did do a reboot film a few years back that basically stripped out all of the magic stuff (since I'm pretty sure it was partly based on actual religious practices and as a result uhhhh kinda disrespectful lol) and had someone else doing the voice for Chucky, which kinda was the whole joy of the original movies for me, tbh - so the reboot kinda sucks, imho. Brad Dourif is, was, and always will be Chucky in much the same way as Robert Englund will always be Freddy Krueger. The series is apparently very popular - Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller is a =huge= fan lol Great reaction, you two! Hopefully nobody called the cops on you lol

Rue

Some great expressions and screams in this watch along. Thankyou. I love those slow headshakes you do Daniel with the "Nope, uh ahhh" sounds, because you sum up exactly what anyone in their right mind would be thinking if they encountered Chucky for real. I kept thinking you'd seen Fright Night for the channel, but if you haven't seen it already, Chris Sarandon is in that too and has a cameo in the 2011 remake.

Guston Zimasheen

An underrated evil doll movie: Dead Silence

Odd Thomas

Batteries included!

Thomas Yanez

Sam needs to put a Chucky doll under Daniels seat with just the head sticking out! 🤣🤣

Rick Rodriguez (PicoMan Photography)

Just started watching. I ALWAYS forget Chris Sarandon (prince from "Princess Bride") plays the cop in this.

Thomas Yanez

seventh heaven, princess bride and grease thats where youve seen those actors before lol but by now you know this already lol great reaction the second chucky movie is even better!

dieselbeast

Who ever knew Dan was so scared of the Asscrack Bandit?

Jason Dolan

When I was a kid I couldn’t go to sleep without a chucky movie playing in the background lol the second one is one of my favourite horror movies of all time. Hope you continue on with the franchise!!

Walter White

I just mark the email notifications as unread and check back the next day at this point. Unlisted videos are at the bottom of the queue for uploads I think, which makes sense I guess since they prioritize views.

Tostito Buddy

Hi All, just noticed the HD is still processing. I'm not sure what's going on with YT and these long processing times :( I'll leave the link and hopefully it'll finish shortly. -Sam
