The Sopranos Season 1 Episode 13 'I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano' Full TV Reaction!!

Y'know, Quasimodo predicted all this. 😂

Marcus Cato

One of Gandolfini's best acting moments is when Tony swallows audibly while listening to his mother and uncle plan his murder.

Bennett Holleman

I also love when Artie visits Livia in the hospital and she's playing up her confused old lady act, but when he reveals what the food is that he's brought her, she can't help but turn her nose up at it because it's a Northern Italian dish. It's just a quick, almost throwaway little moment (she basically says "Ugh, Northern.") but it's so brilliant in showing that she isn't confused at all, as well as play on the Northern Italian vs Southern Italian animus. God, this show is so wonderful with the big moments but also masterful in all the little details.

Robert Livingood

Daniel sitting to the side of an episode constantly wishing Tony's mum dead is the missing ingredient I didn't know The Sopranos needed.

Tostito Buddy

Here's a "we're all getting old" factoid: James Gandolfini and Edie Falco (Tony and Carmella) were 35 and 34 respectively when they filmed the pilot episode in summer of '97(37 and 35 when it aired in '99), and now the Sopranos kids Jamie-Lynn Digler and Robert Iler (Meadow and A.J.) are now 41 and 37!

David Crabtree

Yeah, I'm not sure but it would make sense though.. seems how Steven Zaillian who wrote, directed and was basically the showrunner.. him and James have worked on a couple of other projects together...

PastaDon

It takes serious will to not really binge watch. I saw it all in it's original run and Sunday nights couldn't get here fast enough. That theme song would begin and damn let the whacking begin. The ride for you guys has only just began. Hurry with the next episodes as I am feeling the need to binge .

softshoes

When you brought up Paulie's misuse of the word "Irregardless", this was done by the writers on purpose. As you'll soon find out, malapropisms are a staple in the Sopranos dialogue and wiseguy vernacular. So if you hear words or phases that don't make sense, just know these guys can be stupid at times. It's part of the charm of this show. 😂

JG

Good post, but just wanted to add the Barese crew (Larry) has the most members in the family.

JG

Everything that follows is accurate at the end of season 1. There are no spoilers for anything that comes after that: The name of the crime family at the heart of The Sopranos is DiMeo. It comprises several crews. Crews that have been mentioned or featured include Junior's crew, the Aprile crew, and Jimmy Altieri's crew. Tony's crew is the primary focus of the show. Tony is the capo/captain of that crew. Paulie and Pussy aren't captains. They're soldiers in Tony's crew. Christopher is not "made" so cannot be a soldier. He's an associate. As the storylines expand in later seasons it's much easier to see what's going on, but we can't talk about any of that yet.

Future Boy

By the way, here's how the family works at this moment and where people fit in: EVERYBODY is part of the Soprano Family which used to be the Aprile Crew/ Family. Jackie Aprile's wife is Rosalie -- Carmella's best friend the one the father got the watch from. When Jackie died Jr. Soprano became boss over the whole family, Which means everyone is under him and works for him. There are 2 Underbosses which are Tony and the guy who always looks mopey. There are 6 Capos (Captains who run crews of soldiers.) Silvo is Tony's Consigliere (your consoler, the guy who gives you advice.) Jr's Consigliere is Mikey, the guy who was horrible to his wife. Next, Paulie, Pussy, and Jimmy were Captains. People like Christopher, who's a soldier, serve under the Captains and most younger guys are soldiers, Brenden was nothing, he was Chris's friend. After Soldiers there are Associates, and that's the lowest rank.

Dominic Matich

You gotta know with the Jr. indictments, Tony Soprano or anyone in their crew would talk to the Fbi, even to get Jr. in jail., and the same goes for Jr. That would be just as bad Especially for those old-school guys. Even though HE WAS too proud to admit it, he knew it about Tony. But EVEN JR. wouldn't sell out his own nephew.

Dominic Matich

Just a note on Artie's reaction to finding out the truth behind the fire. I always took it as Artie grew up with Tony and other guys who are now mobbed up,, but Artie chose a straight, honest life. And now he works so hard just to scrape by and he sees his wiseguy friends with more money than him who don't work hard and whose wives aren't busting their balls nonstop and they burn his restaurant down and make him legally a part of a criminal conspiracy (even if the were looking out for him, in a way) and it just about breaks his brain. Thankfully, for him Artie thinks better of making waves, but that tension will always be there.

Robert Livingood

Wasn't Gandolfini meant to do the Turturro role but died before production began?

Robert Livingood

I agree with DL—great show.

Michael Soukup

Hey seems how y'all have a sub for HBO/MAX.. Should check out '16 "The Night Of" it's an HBO production "obviously" 8 part miniseries.. staring Riz Ahmed, John Turturro and Sofia Black-D'Elia.. came out of nowhere and from the 1st episode I was hooked.. Just happened to be one of those series where Production, writing and acting came together perfectly..

PastaDon

There's a great celeb appearance episode in S2. It's one of my favorite episodes of the show.

Donna Castellano

As a huge Carmela fan, it's so satisfying to watch her lay into Father Phil. The guy is such a moocher. Like did you see when he was at Artie's restaurant both times, he used gift certificates given to him by other people?? When she realizes that he's just manipulating a bunch of women, it was like, "Finally!". I didn't start watching this show until season 2 began, but mainlining season one, I kept thinking, "Is he just mooching?". The whole"College" episode was about him eating free food and using Tony's big screen TV. Anyway, yes, Carm is my favorite. I heard Sam remark about Paulie saying, "Irregardless". Yeah, you'll hear that a lot from him as the seasons pass. Lol. Paulie is one of my faves too. I so can't wait for you to get to a certain episode with him and Christopher cause it's so damn funny. That's a while yet tho. Roll on season 2!

Donna Castellano

Livia's smile is such a good top off to that scene.

Carlos Hurtado

Great reaction guys! Now that you're finished Season 1, I can now say that its widely regarded as the "worst" season from the series. This show gradually gets better and better with character development, dialogue and overall theme. While S1 tries to find its identity, S2 is where the show knows exactly what it is and doesn't hold back. Buckle up, cause your in for one hell of a ride! :) PS: Christopher's girlfriend name is Adriana, not Angie ;)

JG

A great finale! One thing about Artie’s reaction, is that he’s a complex personality. Despite seeming very pleasant, he does have dark and volatile corners that intensified his response. There was more to it than face value. I’m eager for season two to begin! This isn’t a spoiler…but one great aspect of the series as a whole, are the additional characters that come and go, and sometimes there are brief cameo appearances where show business people appear as themselves. Combine all that with the great but subtle soundtrack, and it’s a series for the ages.

David Wilkins

Hell yes. Thank you.

Michael Kang-Beats

Thank you for this first season of reactions! It's been a real pleasure to go on this Sopranos ride again, in your company. Season 2 is a masterpiece, and where this show's legendary reputation was born. I can't wait for your to see it!

Future Boy

I think David Chase finally admitted that Jimmy was a rat. Lol. yeah no one really knew 100% for years until Chase recently confirmed it in an interview. Which you could tell he was cause he didn't deny he was a rat. He just accepted that he was going to die. Season 2 is even better. The show is one of the greatest show's ever written. The writing is impeccable. Writers on the show went on to write The Wolf of Wall Street, Mad Men, Damages, Boardwalk Empire, Blue Bloods and more. Oh the guy who plays Christopher (Michael Imperiolli) often wrote with Spike Lee (at least Summer of Sam) also wrote on the show for a few seasons.

Ghost Crusaders

"cunnilingus and psychiatry brought us to this."

Ghost Crusaders

I love this show. It’s so hard to predict and it feels so unapologetically authentic

TinCan Cosmanaut

What a season!! -Sam
