2022-10-18 12:15:15 +0000 UTCAgreed IP Man is the best film here IMO

2022-10-09 13:25:01 +0000 UTCI was hoping there would be more love for Ip Man. I understand that Crouching Tiger has the awards, and Enter the Dragon has a famous name behind it, but Ip Man really recharged my interest in martial art films. It was a welcome surprise. Another related film worth adding to the list is The Grandmaster. They are both worth watching.

2022-10-02 23:48:52 +0000 UTCGreat choices but at some point you all need to look into The Ninja trilogy released by Cannon films in the 80’s starring Sho Kosugi who was a real life ninja master. All 3 films are different but had a ninja theme. Revenge Of The Ninja, the 2nd film is one of my all time faves! 🥷

2022-09-20 15:28:10 +0000 UTCHero is a great one to watch after Crouching Tiger - some of the same actors, and made soon after. Another great one is The Grandmaster which is Wong Kar-wai's telling of the "Ip Man" story - absolutely beautiful with some gorgeous fighting.
Neal Romanek
2022-09-20 13:18:42 +0000 UTCSeven Samurai is one of the greats. But I'm pushing for Crouching Tiger - superb on all levels.
Neal Romanek
2022-09-20 13:18:05 +0000 UTCI get why it isn't winning, but I wonder if any of the other voters think its sort of sad Seven Samurai won't win? It's pretty much on any short list of the greatest films of all time and Kurosawa probably is only 2nd to Hitchcock in most greatest directors polls. And wouldn't it be awesome if this started them on a Kurosawa journey?

2022-09-19 20:15:01 +0000 UTCWhen I was a kid I watched the heck out of Enter the Dragon, but didn't vote for it this time as it is quite dated. I think you will really like Crouching Dragon, a really beautiful film. Two films films I don't think will win, but I voted for them anyway are Seven Samurai and Warrior. Seven Samurai is a much better film than Magnificent Seven, with a lot more heart, and Warrior is definitely one of Tom Hardey's best roles yet.
Mark Curtis
2022-09-19 10:33:52 +0000 UTCYes, also not having House of Flying Daggers and The Myth on that list is also missing out. There's probably more too that I haven't seen but those two films are amazing.
Alex
2022-09-18 17:40:55 +0000 UTCThere is Enter the Dragon, then there are all the rest. Remains the best martial arts action film thanks to Mr. Lee

2022-09-17 02:50:25 +0000 UTC"Enter the Dragon" is wonderful. I'm not a big fan of martial arts films, but it's my favorite, although I also enjoyed "Ip Man." "The Seven Samurai" is a classic, of course, and was the inspiration for the film "The Magnificent Seven" — just as "Yojimbo" was the inspiration for "A Fistful of Dollars."

2022-09-17 02:49:01 +0000 UTCNo more Van damme??
Demos Samolis
2022-09-17 02:42:16 +0000 UTCI just couldn't bring myself not to vote for "Enter the Dragon" but "Seven Samurai" would be a great reaction.

2022-09-17 02:42:05 +0000 UTCThere are some very good ones missing from here: In line with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is: House of Flying Daggers, The Myth (with Jackie Chan) The Myth is one of the best movies ever made IMO hands down. It's kind of like Cobra Kai where it has a lot of comedy as well as really amazing martial arts action. But most anything with Jackie Chan is gonna have humor. Other amazing films: Basically every Bruce Lee movie. Every Jet Li movie. You just have to watch them all. Too many to name, then: The Drunken Master movies with Jackie Chan. Jet Li's first Hollywood movie is Lethal Weapon 4, which is very worth watching. You wanna talk about good villains, but I'm sure you're planning to watch those in order. Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story is also a really good movie. It's the story of Bruce Lee's life, although quite a bit of the movie is complete fiction, it's still a great movie and I think adequately respects Bruce Lee's greatness. It was one of my favorites growing up. There's a lot of really old kung fu movies I can't remember the names of except for Martial Monks of Shaolin Temple. Pretty much most things where the words don't match the lips is good, if you know what I mean :) Also Chuck Norris movies and shows... Delta Force, The President's Man 1 & 2. Walker: Texas Ranger.. The President's Man is very much like Walker.. So if you watch that and love that you will love the show. Chuck Norris is a master of Tang Soo Do, so the martial arts is the same style as what they do on Cobra Kai. That's most of Karate but some stuff is different and Kung Fu is definitely way different than Karate. Also The Way of the Dragon where Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris actually fight each other. And also I recommended it before but the 2010 Karate Kid is really good. It's worth mentioning that it was made in China and it is not called Karate Kid in China. Not really sure how it got the name Karate Kid or who wanted it to be like that, but it's a great movie none the less. I think a lot of people didn't like it because it looked like they were rebooting Karate Kid and it made a lot of fans angry, but if you just consider it it's own separate Kung Fu movie it's really good. It's also waay different because it takes place in China and is all about Kung Fu, or Wushu, which is what most of what they're doing in Kung Fu movies is.
Alex
2022-09-17 02:37:48 +0000 UTCStill hoping you two will watch Everything Everywhere All At Once, but in lieu of that it's an easy vote for Crouching Tiger.

2022-09-17 02:02:49 +0000 UTCThank you for this poll! Here's a couple of recommendations. "Fist of Legend" (1995, Jet Li) "The Legend of Drunken Master" (1994, Jackie Chan)
Mr. Writhms
2022-09-17 01:57:37 +0000 UTCSometime after you do “Enter the Dragon”, you MUST watch “Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon”. The two aren’t related but there are some minor scenes from Enter the Dragon as the main character from The Last Dragon is a fan of Bruce Lee.
