Fightful Select mentioned this week that a marquee boxing match is being discussed featuring two people with pro wrestling and WWE connections. We'll have more in the coming weeks.
A big reminder, in important wrestling news, Fightful's Alex and Kate will be reviewing Freddy Got Fingered on September 11 at this link. Sean Ross Sapp will be joining and serve as executive producer. If you'd like to hype yourself up for such, here's a 150 minute review of Hot Rod that inspired this situation.
Our new interview with Frankie Kazarian is up on Fightful. We also dropped interviews with Powerhouse Hobbs, Evil Uno, Tom Pestock/Baron Corbin and Dijak.
Upcoming guest hosts of The Hump with Sean Ross Sapp include Tom Campbell on September 10, Denise Salcedo September 17, Frank the Clown September 25, Luke Owen October 1, Ibou October 8, and Simon Miller October 15. We have more set but not announced. Andrew Baydala joined this week.
We had a reader ask about what Kona Reeves is up to. He continues to wrestle on the independents and has been working in the Indiana Jones stunt show at Walt Disney World.
Huge name in town, possibly for Smackdown
A major WWE star is expected to be in Chicago and very well could be on what looks to be a huge Smackdown.
Fightful Select has learned that Brock Lesnar has been scheduled to travel to Chicago this week. Friday's episode of Smackdown emanates from Chicago, and sources in WWE that we spoke to said that he was discussed as a possibility for the show. According to WrestleVotes, it's slated to be John Cena's last Smackdown. The two are scheduled to compete against one another at WWE WrestlePalooza on September 20, although it isn't announced.
Based on what we heard, WWE intentionally hoped to load up this episode of Smackdown ahead of a WrestlePalooza show that they also intentionally loaded up.
The word we heard within WWE was that Lesnar was actually scheduled to be in Chicago Thursday.
