Some Higher Ups Pushing For WWE Back In A Major Market

WWE could be returning to China if some have their way.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has learned that numerous people of influence within WWE have pushed for WWE to hold a major event in China in the coming years. Specifically, we’ve heard Hong Kong mentioned as a location, with a PLE event discussed internally within WWE as a possibility.
Fightful Select has heard about these pushes for a number of months.
WWE have only ran eight events in China ever, with all but two emanating from Shanghai. It became something of a September tradition between 2016 and 2019 to go there, but that was halted in large part due to the COVID pandemic of 2020. The company hasn’t had an event there since.
The United States Department of State said last year that there are "significant human rights issues" in Hong Kong. This includes a variety of reports of freedom issues in the country and detainment related to it.
