WWE House Show BONANZA: What Talent Think, WWE Plans For House Shows, Why They Scaled Back
Added 2025-08-30 01:56:43 +0000 UTCWWE had their first live events in quite some time, and the talent tell Fightful that they enjoyed it.
Fightful reached out to a number of wrestlers on the tour about how they felt working live events regularly for the first time in quite a while. WWE is on a tour of Europe, and the company promotes house shows that are still lucrative over there, while scaling back to very rare non-televised live events in the United States.
One talent that we spoke to said that they much prefer the current schedule, getting occasional weekends off, more days at home, and time to stay in shape and recover. “I don’t miss house shows at all. They’re fun to wrestle on, but the current method is much better,” the longtime talent said. “It makes sense that they still do them here and there, and it makes them much more special.”
Another talent said that working live events was always different from TV, but having them effectively cut by two-thirds made them even more special, and enjoyable for them to work.
WWE is also still planning to do their holiday tour of live events in December after Christmas, we’re told. WWE higher ups tell us that right now there are no talks of accelerating house show schedules outside of overseas and international trips. When elaborating, the higher up noted that they still do big business for WWE, and help cultivate fans in the area. The decision to scale back the live event schedule was a multi-pronged decision related to costs, scheduling, keeping talent healthy and the weighing pros and cons. We’re also told that it has helped with contract negotiations as well, with the dates coming down significantly, or being used for other ventures.
WWE has run only 15 house shows for the main roster through August this year. In 2023, that number was nearly 50 through August. Another WWE source indicated to Fightful that since scaling the house shows back, they actually end up getting more attention on social media when something buzzworthy happens.

I remember the insane schedule WWF had in the 80’s with house shows almost every Fri-sat-sun. Glad the wrestlers are given more time off to recuperate and not burn out.
