Bobby Fish Interview Notes with The Wrestling Perspective's Podcast

The Wrestling Perspective is one of Fightful's newest shows. It is hosted by Lars Frederiksen of the Punk Rock Band "Rancid" and Dennis Farrell. This week, they interviewed the former three-time ROH Tag-Team and two-time NXT Tag-Champion Bobby Fish.

Bobby Fish told The Wrestling Perspective that he thinks there was a lot of money on the table to potentially work with teams like The Young Bucks and The Briscoes, but things just did not go that way.

Dennis Farrell asked Bobby if he was a “Triple H Guy”. Fish said during their time he definitely considered themselves (Undisputed Era) Triple H guys. He said Triple H saw something in us that others failed to see. A short-time later, Fish would state that the Undisputed Era were definitely Triple H guys, because we knew he took pride in us and they wanted to make him proud.

Fish said they were blessed to get that run in NXT. He said he was a huge fan of Crockett, War Games, and Dusty’s as a kid. He got to be in a group with three of his best friends, and it was surreal to him.

Bobby said he and the Undisputed Era worked closely with the former NXT Head Writer Joe Belcastro and Triple H. They were given bullet points instead of doing the script. He said the NXT production crew would joke and call them “one-take UE.” Bobby says the WWE can be criticized for being overproduced and micromanaged, but it was nothing they dealt with much.

Fish was asked if he approached the wrestling business any different after his WWE run. He told The Wrestling Perspective that he could sink his teeth into being a singles competitor again. He talked about returning to his martial arts roots in Pro Wrestling Noah.

He mentioned no company will always get everything right. When asked about AEW, he said he “would have liked a little more direction”.

He said a tweet of his after Sammy Guevara defeated Miro for the TNT Championship was what led to a conversation, and that’s how he ended up in AEW.

He said he was proud of the War Games matches they did. He said the storyline they did with Pat McAfee was an opportunity to learn from any mistakes they had in the previous War Games match.
