Details On Sasha Banks-WWE, NJPW, More
Added 2022-12-15 22:06:39 +0000 UTCSasha Banks, aka Mercedes Varnado has been the subject of much speculation. However, we've finally gained some clarity on some details.
It was confirmed to Fightful that Mercedes' WWE exit was negotiated "months ago," likely when Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. reported as much. However, WWE has yet to officially confirm this, and she remains listed on the company's official website.
It was also reiterated to us that Sasha Banks was able to take wrestling related bookings on January 1, something that Fightful Select reported this past fall. When we asked if that was "contractual," we were told that it was, and were informed that WrestleCade was far from the only wrestling-related operation to make attempts to book her, with other conventions that those close to her claimed were interested. We're told that conventions went to great lengths to be able to book her before January 1, but it couldn't happen.
Beyond that, we were also informed that the New Japan Pro Wrestling deal is a go, and was agreed upon as far back as the last week of November. Those that we've spoken to familiar with that deal said that they haven't heard of anything regarding All Elite Wrestling and Mercedes yet, but also stated that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Comments
The last week of November being when the deal was finalized is consistent with what she said on her Insta story that something she'd been waiting for "for 6 months" at the end of Nov was coming.

2022-12-17 01:48:44 +0000 UTCExcept it didn’t really improve numbers much except for one episode during the finals of the tag tournament. They haven’t confirmed releases of Sasha or Naomi and there’s been nothing on Naomi’s intentions. There’s more to it than just “Well they want you to think she’s still there”. Maybe under the previous regime. This one is less about insulting peoples intelligence.

2022-12-16 06:40:03 +0000 UTCTHAT'S THE POINT! They don't WANT people to move on. There's people that think if she shows up in NJPW then it's just "proof" of a partnership between WWE & NJPW. There's people that thought she would magically appear during numerous Raws or Smackdowns.

2022-12-16 05:40:35 +0000 UTCWell when she shows up in NJPW, then it doesn’t matter. So that’s why it makes no sense. If they would’ve just confirmed it over the summer, people would’ve moved on by now

2022-12-16 03:00:22 +0000 UTCWhat exactly do they have to gain? Everybody who’s paying attention knows she’s gone and the ones who aren’t paying attention likely don’t care. They’ve confirmed releases of their biggest stars before. There’s literally no precedent for what’s going on here.
Joel Wood
2022-12-16 02:59:09 +0000 UTCBecause they don’t want the perception of one of their most popular stars not wanting to be there
2022-12-16 02:04:30 +0000 UTCThe Fed has more to gain in keeping people thinking she's still the/going back. In confirming her release, people stop talking about "WWE's Sasha Banks" and only talk about Mercedes Varnado.

2022-12-16 00:54:53 +0000 UTCNot if TK can sign her. She will be in LA on January 11th for her debut match after sitting ringside at WK17

2022-12-16 00:24:52 +0000 UTCMandy Rose just got released. She has yet to sign with any promotion because she’s still under non compete. 24 hours later, without an official announcement by WWE, to my knowledge anyway, she’s on the alumni page. Yet we’re 7 months deep and nothing even confirming Sasha is gone. I believe she was released but the lack of confirmation within WWE is leaving me dumbfounded

2022-12-16 00:12:08 +0000 UTCSweet! I hope the stint is longer than a show or two. My hope is that this really brings in a surprisingly high number of new fans like me into NJPW world and that in turn gives Mercedes more leverage she needs to get the deal and respect that entails in whatever future deal she might have with WWE or AEW. I believe she’s the greatest women’s wrestling talent alive and should be paid like it.

2022-12-15 23:53:49 +0000 UTCYes, you will be able to watch WK for the single sub price.

2022-12-15 23:52:45 +0000 UTCSo, as someone who is now going to pay for NJPW World - will I be able to watch Wrestle Kingdom for the single sub price or is there additional cost?

2022-12-15 23:43:56 +0000 UTCImo she'll come out after Kairi beats Tam Nakano and challenge her to a match which will probably happen at the Yokohama show on the 21st Jan.

2022-12-15 23:37:12 +0000 UTCWhy? His story was she negotiated her exit, not that she was going somewhere else.
Kyle Cotton
2022-12-15 23:07:26 +0000 UTCHe should probably wait until she shows up in a wrestling ring.

2022-12-15 23:06:03 +0000 UTCWhat about Naomi?

2022-12-15 22:54:20 +0000 UTCBecause she doesn't have a huge group of fans wanting answers. They are just letting her hang around for time being.
