Major Development on the Elite

Things are looking up for The Elite.

After being suspended after the Brawl Out situation, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega haven't been seen on AEW TV or in an official capacity since then, to the level in which Omega was even pulled from AEW Tokyo Game Show promotional appearances. We've learned that for the first time since AEW All Out, there is talk backstage of Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks coming back to work, at the very least in a backstage capacity. One source said they heard it could happen "imminently," but nobody we heard from could definitively tell us when it's expected.

Fightful Select has learned that over the last couple of weeks, the most movement out of the situation has happened since the incident took place. We were told that a meeting was scheduled for last week, but we're in the dark on the context of those.

There hasn't been an indication on when they could return to AEW TV.

UPDATE: We're told Don Callis is at tonight's AEW Dynamite backstage. He was also in Jacksonville at Rampage.

I believe the Bucks did handle it like executives by taking with them AEW’s lead legal counsel and their Head of HR. This seems often to get lost when discussing it. The Bucks witnessed their biggest star bury their company and invite anyone with a problem with him to his locker room where he claimed his door was always open. The Bucks gathered their lawyer and HR and went to talk to a problem employee who decided to throw a punch and start a brawl. As for Tony, he was completely unaware of the situation until Jericho told him about it after the fact. I really was excited for Punk. His return was one of the greatest moments in wrestling history. However, I can’t help but think it’s like that adage of if you meet nothing but assholes all day that that maybe you’re the asshole.

No. No matter what Punk said, nothing warranted kicking in his door… this is 100% on Kenny & The Bucks.

But it is not something that you can do in an Executive role. Executives are held to the standards of the company. As was seen in the news, people's opinion of AEW backstage dropped when this incident occurred. Absolutely, Punk was the instigator, but The Elite (TE), escalated a situation when they should diffuse it. I understand that they were personally insulted, but the Executives role is to look out for the company, not react to personal insults, no matter how public. TK should also shoulder some blame as he should have paused the conference or even texted someone to make sure that TE were ok and to calm them down before they even left their office/locker room. Locker room politics don't work on an executive level.

It’s very difficult to understand how someone could have read the various reports coming out of this incident and reached this conclusion. You don’t have to be mark for Kenny and the Bucks to see that this was clearly 90% on Punk. Just go ask around the locker room.

This is unfortunate. Their behavior warrants a longer suspension and the stripping of their EVP status. It’s a shame that as adults they were enraged by someone’s words that they stormed into his locker room with bad intentions. I feel like if Punk goes, then the Elite should be suspended for the exact amount of time that Punk has to serve his non-compete.

Get off the dog thing bro. Seriously. They didn’t hurt the dog. It’s propaganda from Punk’s side. Punk was 100% wrong here. There were many witnesses.

The guys who brought the VP and Talent Relations to have a talk with Punk about his conduct and they way he represented himself and the company for the entire world to see, who were attacked, who seemingly the entire locker room is backing*

To me, this seems like the first time any of this has made any sense. Punk is a trash-talking coward. Him picking a physical fight while tired, injured and trying to pack his face with baked goods seems unlikely. His dog getting seriously injured would *actually* explain him starting a ten minute fight, the dog getting hurried out of the room, and someone going so berserk as to bite someone. That return promo felt to me like a victory lap for something really gross. Maybe they didn’t mean to do it, but they sure seem proud of themselves for it.

Dave was giving early info post-scrum from Punk’s side. Why would they omit the one detail that would instantly turn the public opinion in their favor? Because it didn’t happen.

Dave Stroble

They super kicked the dog because the dog likes to party. The dog ducked it and beat the bucks with a surprise roll up…the most devastating move in the game! “Why you kick my dog” - Kerpal Nobody knows exactly what happened but the fact that this is the first time we are hearing it is VERY suspicious.

T2

They didnt kick a dog. Get your facts straight

I just heard WOR and daves reasoning is "why didnt they say anything about this before?" But it was my understanding this was under investigation with a mum order, and the investigation concluded, and we found out new info.... isnt that how that works? or is dave assuming all evidence be disclosed prior to conducting an investigation? im fuzzy on assuming we shouldve known all this prior. I also think theres a good reason the Elite are coming back so even if any of it is true it seems inconsequential, but i wouldnt rush to assume the details coming out are false just cause they are new details post-investigation.

MiamiWeiss21

You don't "know" that.

Fightful Select

There’s nothing true about that story. C’mon. If that was ACTUALLY the case 1) wouldn’t we have heard about it and 2) the Elite wouldn’t be back. Let’s be real.

Dave Stroble

Multiple eyewitnesses have also denied that account.

1. The story is that they "kicked down the door" and the door accidentally hit the dog. Possibly semantics, but a meaningful distinction. 2. Meltzer is reporting that this is the first time this has been mentioned throughout and that the other side is calling that an outright lie.

To me, knowing they kicked a dog so hard it lost two teeth ruins the Bucks and Omega for me forever. I never want to see them again. That return promo made me physically ill.

Jeff Miller

actually punk instigated at the scrum

Rick D

Cool. So the guys that instigated the fight get a couple weeks off and come back…

If they are back as EVPs, it will show that the only punishment TK is willing to give is suspension and will diminish his power. According to the stories here, the locker room has been better since everyone was suspended (minus Andrade and Sammy), and adding them back into it could potentially stir up more controversy. However, with Mox and Jericho in expanded roles, their influence will be reduced. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future. Personally, I preferred the product when they weren't there as AEW seemed more focused on building stars again as opposed to supporting The Elite. Hopefully, that trend continues.

Gotta cope brother

Lawrence Robinson

Give me Kenny on my Tv again soon please

Zachary Schemmel

If they are still evps whi Punk is released Tony is the biggest fuckin mark. He has no leadership and his investigation was bogus. He couldnt make it a storyline and got the children back in the board room.
